Bartholin's cyst now infected. Any experience of this?

[Gincompetent]

I am in so much pain, I can't sit easily, it's sore to walk and just generally sore all the time.

I've had the cyst for a few years but it's never given me any bother (had it checked at the time by gynae though, as it was the size of a large grape, and she said it was best to leave it as is if not troubling me).

However, it's grown rapidly over the past 2 days - to the size of an egg! - and become so painful, so I went to the GP this morning and she's given me antibiotics and said if it doesn't feel better by Friday morning I've to go back to be sent to hospital. I had a temperature at the GP and have been feeling a bit unwell for the last couple of days so I guess this is the reason.

Has anyone experienced this?

Please tell me it will be ok!!

I am back in my room and have had lunch. I was able to sit up normally to eat! Whoohoo! Looking forward the being able to sleep on my side again too!

Haven't looked down there yet but all I feel is a little bit nippy - the intense pain is gone! Phew. They took me down to theatre at 9.15am and I was in the theatre waiting area for 20mins. I hadn't had paracetamol since 4.50am so was really feeling it by then!

Have to say your dh's comments made me laugh.

I had a cyst for years under my armpit that was grape sized but then I woke up one day and it had grown into a golf ball and then lemon and finally 'cantaloupe melon' (written in notes)
I couldn't put my arm down or dress or anything I was miserable, I could have kissed the surgeon when she put me under to remove the bastard thing!
