I am in so much pain, I can't sit easily, it's sore to walk and just generally sore all the time.

I've had the cyst for a few years but it's never given me any bother (had it checked at the time by gynae though, as it was the size of a large grape, and she said it was best to leave it as is if not troubling me).

However, it's grown rapidly over the past 2 days - to the size of an egg! - and become so painful, so I went to the GP this morning and she's given me antibiotics and said if it doesn't feel better by Friday morning I've to go back to be sent to hospital. I had a temperature at the GP and have been feeling a bit unwell for the last couple of days so I guess this is the reason.

Has anyone experienced this?

Please tell me it will be ok!!

Hopefully you'll be at home next time you post. Take it easy, we'll say a prayer for Dave later:

Dear Dave
Humongous cyst
Excised today
You won't be missed
Amen

Gincompetent · 26/10/2018 17:27

@FlibbertyGiblets 😂 I love Dave's last prayer, although I'd like to add
'and please please do not return again
I just can't take the fanny dagger pain' 😂

And thanks @KeepOnKeepingOnAgainandAgain It is soooooo painful isn't it? I now know what that immediate relief feeling was that everyone was talking about. Pure joy!

I have a few stitches but that's nothing in comparison. And a splitting headache (hence that lack of updating!) but hoping that will pass soon 🤞

Thanks @mummmy2017 DH has taken DS away to his football and I'll be lying on the sofa until he comes back and sorts the dinner 😁

Happy weekend to you all! You've been lovely 💐🍷🍸

Glad to see that you are safely home Gin. Get plenty of rest and keep up with fluids to help you get over the GA. Thanks

Ooh enjoy the feeling of being free of your visitor. And hope you’re the one treated like a very special guest tonight.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 26/10/2018 21:58

Bye Dave! Don’t come back!

Gincompetent · 29/10/2018 20:39

I'm back if anyone's still around... with another question for those unlucky ladies who've been cursed with their own Dave.

Did you heal ok? I have a few stitches but they seems to be just inside the entrance to my vagina making it pretty hard to see (and I'm not wanting to pull/stretch too much in case I burst them) without contorting myself.

But from what I can see, the wound looks a little bit yellow Should I be worried? I'll be finished the original course of antibiotics the GP prescribed tomorrow.

It could just be old yuk leaking out still? If you gently dab the yellow with a tissue can you get a better sense of what it is?
Is it hot or sore? How do you feel in yourself? Any smell??

KOKOagainandagain · 29/10/2018 21:07

I had a drain in mine after surgery and visits from the community nurse. I was rather delirious but can remember her visiting and removing the drain because it strung ever so slightly.

Gincompetent · 29/10/2018 22:18

No smell @Spamfrittersforeveryone
The weird thing was, although all 5 docs who had a look (2 GPs and 3 hosp docs) all believed it was an abscess/infected cyst, when they went in was just a plain old cyst which had grown rapidly for some reason.

There was therefore no infection so I didn't expect to see any yellow when I looked tonight.
Although, maybe the content of the cyst wasn't clear like I assumed it would be, and it is still leaking a little bit?

Oh @KeepOnKeepingOnAgainandAgain that sounds pretty unpleasant!

I’d probably get it checked as it’s impossible to keep sterile in that area and you don’t want any infection appearing now.

I was a bit naughty and popped my own Dave at home with a needle a couple of weeks ago. I had a bruise afterwards Shock but no yellow discharge/ skin.

OddBoots · 30/10/2018 07:07

If there is no smell and there wasn't infection found it is possible the yellow is an antiseptic solution they used in surgery, betadine or something.

Monkeybunkey · 30/10/2018 08:57

When I had mine drained under GA, the whole area was an assortment of colours afterwards! I put it down to bruising and the iodine/antiseptic they would have painted on during the procedure. Keep an eye on it though, and if it gets painful or hot/red I'd get it checked out. My stitches were uncomfortable too - I ended up having to snip the end of one off with nail scissors as it was poking out! And the 6-10 days I was told for them to dissolve was more like 3-4 weeks, just to warn you!

Gincompetent · 30/10/2018 10:19

Thanks all. @Monkeybunkey 3-4 week's?? They are a couple of sharp bits sticking out - I may need to get snipping. The hospital didn't really tell me anything before they discharged me. I asked myself about how it went and after care.

I didn't see a doctor afterwards either. I was back in my room by about 11.30am and discharged around 4.15/30pm. I asked the nurse if it all went ok, and what had happened in theatre etc, and if I had packing or stitches and she said 'do you want me to have a look?'

She had a look - literally a look - and said 'no stitches' but I said I felt like I had stitches and was surprised (given the size of that beast!) I hadn't needed stitches. Then she said 'do you want me to put gloves on and have a proper look?'

So she did and, lo and behold, she said there were a few stitches.

Didn't say there were dissolvable (I am assuming this) or what to look out for once I was home.

It was a bit like 'job done, bye bye' come to think of it.

Ooh, you've just reminded me that I had packing which was removed the next day (I went down to theatre about 10pm in the end). I may have screamed as that was removed, it was that painful. There was so much of it (think conjuror pulling flags out of a hat!). Stitches are generally dissolvable ones as far as I know (there were a couple of us getting rid of Daves when I was in for mine and we both had them).

Gincompetent · 30/10/2018 11:35

Oh jeez @Monkeybunkey 😱 the thought of that is making my eyes water. Def no smell from the yellowish (have dabbed with tissue and had a good old sniff 🤢🙈) so will keep an eye on it for now.

It looks very messy though ☹️
