Hurrah and Hallelujah. My uterus has been given an eviction notice!

30 years of being a complete bitch. Let me down twice (miscarriage and ectopic). Did what it should do twice (2 grown up DDs). Never officially diagnosed with anything but suggestions have been PCOS and endometriosis. 30 solid years of hideous periods. 30 years of being fobbed off by assorted GPs who told me it was normal to faint, vomit, incapacitate and take over my life for one out of every three or four weeks.
It’s got to the point where my cycles are just 18-20 days long, I bleed huge amounts for 5 days (emptying cup every 2 hours), overflowing, clots. Light bleeding on and off for a further 4 days. Bleeding on and off randomly mid-cycle. Puking and dizzy. Period diarrhoea, excruciating, labour style pain. Another 3 days of pain while i ovulate plus bleeding then too.
Tried everything. Mirena - I bled for 8 months then it fell out. Painfully. Pill - unhinged. Drugs - I’m allergic to the good ones and the others don’t work so well. Herbs, flowers, tea, homeopathy, diet - all bollox.

Finally saw a Dr who actually listened and agreed to whip the bugger out. Not sure how yet as apparently it's ‘bulky’ (like the rest of me) so need a scan to see how big it is. Also waiting on smear results and endometrial biopsy (which hurt like a bastard and is still hurting 4 days later).

I had belly button infection too. Needed the first antibiotics I'd had in 25 years.

MerryGinmas · 12/12/2018 21:11

Mine is weeping a bit but it's clear. I'll keep an eye on it. Sounds like if any will get infected it's that one 👍

Beanfield · 13/12/2018 15:15

My belly button is a bit whiffy but the skin looks ok so I’m just slapping tea tree oil on and hoping it doesn’t turn into gangrene.

How long did it take your stitches to dissolve? Mine show no signs at all and are annoying me so I’m temoted to take them out.

OP posts:
MerryGinmas · 13/12/2018 15:23

@beanfield should I be using tea tree oil? I'm just showering daily and making sure it's dry afterwards 😂

Beanfield · 13/12/2018 15:33

Probably not gin. I slap it on everything that threatens to be sore. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Congrats to Beanfield on finally getting your hysterectomy. from starting the thread in August to your op in November was pretty quick! Glad things have gone ok and you get to have Christmas off.

Merryginmas
I will be reading about your recovery with interest, I am hoping for date soon. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

I Will have to spend time reading back a few post I think to familiarise myself.

Beanfield · 13/12/2018 18:58

Apart from a filthy cold i feel completely normal! Bloody amazing.

OP posts:
Beanfield · 13/12/2018 20:05

Also....

I am never going to have another period ever again.

No more period pain. No more bleeding all over the place.

I’m never going to need another smear test.

And I will never have to buy any more tampons or pads. I may convert my mooncup into a Christmas tree decoration so I remember this feeling every year (too much?).

Bloody amazing.

OP posts:
MerryGinmas · 13/12/2018 20:33

What date was yours again @Beanfield?

I thought the same about just mooncup. I haven't heard about whether I need smears yet but I'm so excited to be period free Grin

Can't wait to get to the point you're at..I'm still feeling a bit crap and temp is a bit changeable. No actually fevers now, just warm for me at times. My bleeding has calmed right down now though!

bringbackthestripes · 13/12/2018 20:48

Loopeyloo I’m still reading through- sorry to hear you manager is being so awful. Not what you need when you aren’t feeling too great!

Mooncup xmas decGrin Bean & Merry that would certainly be an interesting talking point!

Beanfield · 13/12/2018 21:32

Mine was the 27th. So 15 days ago. I’m amazed I feel so normal. I’m a shocking hypochondriac at the best of times.

That's great Beanfield! I hope you're being careful not to lift things etc! I've been told I'll feel normal in 2-3 weeks but that internally there's a lot of healing to be done.

I accidentally took too much cocodamol last night and fell asleep on the sofa at 8pm 😂😂 I think my pain seems slightly better this morning 🤞

PostNotInHaste · 14/12/2018 12:11

I posted on here back in August shortly after having a fibroid embolised. Had a read to catch up and really pleased to see things going well.

Really pissed off here as I get more bleeding and pain post embolisation than I did before, though the pressure on my bladder is better. Having scan in Feb, then see Radiologist again but unless things improve drastically in next couple of months I am going to push for hysterectomy. Hopefully the fucker fibroid might have shrunk a bit and open up a few more options other than vertical incision which was my only option previously.

MerryGinmas · 14/12/2018 12:26

@postnotinhaste that's rubbish! I really hope that they can help you avoid hysterectomy or at least avoid such a big incision.

I'm off to the docs today to get drainage checked 😷 not feeling too bad generally though but I am feeling very tired.

PostNotInHaste · 14/12/2018 13:52

Thanks MerryGinMas . Sorry you’re feeling rough, hope you start feeling better very soon. The embolisation was quite rough, very painful and the morphine made me sick, I’ve not really felt right since August and I feel done now and would actually welcome a hysterectomy I think.

MerryGinmas · 14/12/2018 14:10

Mine was all very quick. I've had problems for years which they've never found the cause of but I started bleeding very very heavily in August. I was due to have a TCRE two weeks ago but it didn't happen, then ablation failed. By the time they said they were recommending hysterectomy it was actually a bit of a relief. I'm not too bad tbh, I probably expected to feel worse at this point . I feel like I'm improving quite quickly really.

PostNotInHaste · 14/12/2018 15:21

That all sounds positive and fingers crossed you're over the worse Flowers

MeganChips · 14/12/2018 17:25

Really glad to hear you are feeling so well Beanfield and hello to everyone else.

I have had my hysteroscopy appointment delayed by 2 weeks, it’s now on the 6th feb which is irritating as I can’t start the hysterectomy ball rolling until then.

This time next year though I too can have a mooncup Christmas decoration! 😄 Hopfully.

MerryGinmas · 14/12/2018 17:56

That's irritating, mine moved so quickly as I was happy to accept cancellations. Could be worth mentioning for you as well?

My incision is fine, she thinks there is just a small hole which is letting out fluid. Now, can I have an amaretto hot chocolate while taking codeine? Hmm

Beanfield · 14/12/2018 18:03

Amaretto and codeine sounds ok, just not too much of either.

Megan and Post - that’s rubbish, February feels like ages away but its only a few weeks really.

To add to my glittery mooncup Xmas Grin

Hysterectomy.
OP posts:
MeganChips · 14/12/2018 18:37

I really hope you actually have that!

SDD is very crafty, she might make me one if I ask her nicely! It’s cheaper than the copious amounts of gin she normally buys me but it’s a tough decision.

MerryGinmas thanks for that idea. I’ll certainly ask. I have been putting it off to a degree because of starting a new job but I’ve had enough now and hopefully on the way to making myself indispensable!

MerryGinmas · 14/12/2018 18:55

My learn to knit kit is arriving tomorrow 👍👍😂

Beanfield · 14/12/2018 20:58

I’m crap at knitting but slightly obsessed with crochet. I need a new project to see me through the next 5 weeks.

OP posts:
MerryGinmas · 14/12/2018 21:00

There was a crochet kit too but delivery was longer. That's exactly what mine is for 😂😂
