Hurrah and Hallelujah. My uterus has been given an eviction notice!

30 years of being a complete bitch. Let me down twice (miscarriage and ectopic). Did what it should do twice (2 grown up DDs). Never officially diagnosed with anything but suggestions have been PCOS and endometriosis. 30 solid years of hideous periods. 30 years of being fobbed off by assorted GPs who told me it was normal to faint, vomit, incapacitate and take over my life for one out of every three or four weeks.
It’s got to the point where my cycles are just 18-20 days long, I bleed huge amounts for 5 days (emptying cup every 2 hours), overflowing, clots. Light bleeding on and off for a further 4 days. Bleeding on and off randomly mid-cycle. Puking and dizzy. Period diarrhoea, excruciating, labour style pain. Another 3 days of pain while i ovulate plus bleeding then too.
Tried everything. Mirena - I bled for 8 months then it fell out. Painfully. Pill - unhinged. Drugs - I’m allergic to the good ones and the others don’t work so well. Herbs, flowers, tea, homeopathy, diet - all bollox.

Finally saw a Dr who actually listened and agreed to whip the bugger out. Not sure how yet as apparently it's ‘bulky’ (like the rest of me) so need a scan to see how big it is. Also waiting on smear results and endometrial biopsy (which hurt like a bastard and is still hurting 4 days later).

Now I’ve crocheted everything maybe I should try knitting again.

FannyBurneyUndertheknife · 14/12/2018 22:10

I've been away a bit (it's been a hideous lead-up to the end of term) but I've enjoyed catching up on all your news.

Congrats to everyone who is out the other side and recovering- it's good to hear about your knitting and crochet exploits. One of my jobs before Christmas is to sort out my many unfinished objects and random bags of wool. Looking forward to having knitting time.

I've started another period from hell which will probably go on for two weeks. Can't wait to get that uterus fucker out. My tummy is massive from the fibroids and I'm not dealing with my emotions very well. I've had flu, migraines, depression recently and I can't help feeling there might be a link. Though the fuckwits I work with aren't helping, so who knows Xmas Wink

Still v scared of my op though as Ive been told I can't have laparoscopic surgery. Is it ever possible to have it with massive fibroids?

Sorry to vent. I feel a bit better now so feel free to ignore me.

Beanfield · 15/12/2018 12:18

Fanny - venting is good. You need to let off steam otherwise you’d explode.

Tired, grumpy, hormonal mess today everything makes me want to cry. Have no idea what is wrong possibly overdone it a wee bit over the last few days. How's everyone else today?

FannyBurneyUndertheknife · 15/12/2018 18:14

Thanks Bean. Hope you are feeling good today.

I'm a hormonal mess too, Loppy. Didn't sleep last night because of seething resentment about work, worries that my operation date might not actually be confirmed because I haven't got the letter from the hospital yet, though I have had phone confirmation- and anxiety about a million and one other things.

And there's a total bloodbath every hour or less, when I have to empty the mooncup. It's been the last day of term today so that's not made the two carol services and one school assembly I took part in much fun (hello maternity pads). Fuck sake. I'm now at home in my pjs ordering shiny lipstick online and wishing there was more wine than there is.

MerryGinmas · 15/12/2018 21:51

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time @fannyburneyundertheknife here's hoping you get your date confirmed soon.

@Loppeyloo make sure you're resting! I'm sorry you've had a tough day too.

I've had my first day with the DDs at home and it's been challenging as DH can't do absolutely everything and dd2 doesn't understand (she's just turned 4).

The constipation has now kicked in for me in a bad way. I'm just about managing but the pain is ridiculous. I've just bought some senna in my weekly shop. Here's hoping it helps! Otherwise I'm generally improving a bit each day. 👍

Beanfield · 15/12/2018 22:22

You still on the codeine Gin? That’s baaaaad for bunging you up. Not nice for you. Also must be v hard with little ones who don’t understand. Mine are adults.

My cold is foul and I have a cough which makes my tum ache a bit.

OP posts:
MerryGinmas · 15/12/2018 22:44

@Beanfield yeah my older one is just 7 so she understands more but it's not easy for them. Could have done without her blabbing to the lady who listens to readers at school. My neighbour came rushing round today to check I was ok (she'd heard I'd had a hyst but an inaccurate reason why) because the lady had been gossiping at the village coffee morning. 🤦 Bless her totally not DDs fault.

Yes I tried to not take codeine last night but still had a lot of pain so I can't manage it yet. I'm on middling dose though plus ibuprofen. With pain relief I'm fairly mobile now, I won't be doing any longer walks for a few weeks but I'm not stuck on the sofa either.

Sorry to hear you've got a cold. I can imagine coughing being a real pain! I sneezed today and wasn't impressed 😂

MerryGinmas · 16/12/2018 08:15

Sorry for all the questions but has anyone else had night sweats since their surgery? I still have my ovaries but they're driving me round the bend.

Beanfield · 16/12/2018 08:42

Oh yes. Although I have on and off for ever but definitely worse in the last couple of weeks. I was putting it down to having the hearing on and then this cold. But maybe it’s a hormone thing?

OP posts:
Loppeyloo · 16/12/2018 09:43

@FannyBurneyUndertheknife sorry to hear your still having such a hard time im sure your surgery will be confirmed soon. Jammies and wine nights are the best they always makes me feel good till I realise all the wine is gone Smile.

@MerryGinmas have you tried pepermint tea its kinda gross but it was a life saviour for me. Or pepermint lozenges work as well.

Loppeyloo · 16/12/2018 09:50

@MerryGinmas I get them not everynight have taken to just putting my blanket over me at night. My surgeon had said it is something that would happen even if I kept my ovaries which I have still got.

Beanfield · 17/12/2018 06:37

I’m achy this morning. I think from coughing all night. This cold has hit me harder than a normal one and I’m a bit fed up.

On a more positive note I just had the beautifully freeing thought that I will never again have to worry about being pregnant. (I was crap at being pregnant). Isn’t it marvellous Xmas Grin

Hope you're feeling better today, Beanfield.

Beanfield · 19/12/2018 16:41

Thanks Fanny. Hope you are too.

3 weeks post surgery. Feeling completely fine but wish my cold would do one. It’s lingering.

I’m off to fatclub tonight. I fear I’ve put in about a stone sitting around stuffing my face over the last few weeks.

Evening all and happy Christmas to you.
Hope those waiting aren’t too poorly and those recovering are well enough to enjoy it.

This is my first whole Christmas off in forever since I was 15 (worked in a hotel as a teenager, then carehome, then hospitals ever since). It’s a bit crap that H is back to normal from the 27th but both DDs are home and it’ll be lovely to just chill and enjoy it.

And I’m still sadly unable to hoover Wink.

OP posts:
MerryGinmas · 23/12/2018 17:23

I'm not too bad now X it's tiring having the little people at home all the time but I'm enjoying it too. District nurse had to come and deal with my incision today as it's still leaking 🤮

Managing pretty well on paracetamol and ibuprofen and not feeling too far from normal. Still get sore sometimes and tired often though😂

Hope your DDs will do all the running around 😁

Beanfield · 31/12/2018 21:23

Happy new year Beanfield!

Hoping to be where you are this time next year.

FannyBurneyUndertheknife · 01/01/2019 13:43

Happy new year to you all! Can't wait to get my op over and done with too.

MerryGinmas · 01/01/2019 14:42

Happy new year everyone XX I'm doing pretty well now. All incisions are healed but belly button still leaking and stomach sore so looks like they might have damaged it. I'm off back to clinic on Thursday to have it checked.

I got so many lovely bath bombs for Christmas. Can't wait to be able to use them!

Appin · 01/01/2019 20:36

Happy New Year all! I'm on the countdown to surgery now- a week today! Terrified, to be honest, but also looking forward to it being over.

I'm starting to put together things for my hospital bag. Got peppermint tea, arnica tablets, one nightie, some nice new pyjamas, slippers. What else should I organise? What is best to wear home and in the days after? I normally wear jeans, but imagine I won't be able to.

MerryGinmas · 01/01/2019 21:00

Lots of leggings and yoga pants!!! X

MerryGinmas · 01/01/2019 21:06

Ooh and a dressing gown!
