Antonia Forest? I recently bought a copy of this to reread, but I haven't been game to do so, as I don't want to find myself disappointed with one of my very favourite childhood memories.

I don't think you'd be disappointed. I find that as an adult one can appreciate Antonia Forest on a whole new level.

Was that trilogy written about 15/20 years ago? Those places in conjunction ring a bell about something I read a fair while ago, but that is about all I can remember. There's been a few thousand books since then and sadly details blur nowadays.

No. It’s Alka Joshi from 2020 ish onwards so quite recent. Great series.
