Okay, none of my friends have read either ACOTAR or Crescent City and I am in DIRE need of discussing the ending of House of Sky and Breath with someone!!! I have read and re-read the ACOTAR series I loved it that much - and now I've fallen in love with the characters of CC series too so the ending has absolutely blown my mind!!! I don't think I can wait until Jan 2024 to find out where she's going to go with this (and I have MANY concerns about some of my favourite characters!!)

I loved them, and ACOTAR too.

I’m also wondering which threads from ACOTAR she will pick up in the next CC book.

came on here looking for recommendations to tide me over until January 😃

bryceQ · 25/08/2023 19:07

Yes love them! As per name 😉

Can't wait for book 3

Rattlethestars · 25/08/2023 19:08

Yes, come and join us on the FB Sarah J. Maas fan club 😁

r0ck · 25/08/2023 19:14

LOVE Sarah J.Maas / ACOTAR/ Throne of Glass. Didn't love the CC series as much but that ending has ensured I'll get Book 3 when it's out!!

TeainanIV · 26/08/2023 12:16

@r0ck I really need to read the throne of glass books, especially now I've read CC and the potential of ToG characters also making an appearance in CC3!!

@Wishfulthinkingonmypart same!! I want to hear more about Azriel as he's still very mysterious! I recently read 'Fourth Wing' as was recommended if based on my love of ACOTAR and CC. Really enjoyed it! It was more of a slow burn but I'm hooked now - next book is out in November!

@bryceQ excellent username!! Thoughts on Hunt?? I love him but I've seen mixed feelings online and some people saying they don't think he's Bryce's mate!! I'll be devastated as I think they're perfect together! Also if anything happens to Ruhn or Tharion I'm going to lose it!!

@Rattlethestars ooh thank you!! I definitely will!! Could you please send me the group name? Thanks!

bryceQ · 26/08/2023 14:23

I really like Hunt!

I can't imagine how CC will intersect with the ACOTR characters, so excited to see it.

If you haven't read throne of glass that's epic too. (Not as saucy!)

Covetthee · 26/08/2023 14:34

Yes loved it, the last paragraph had me fangirling hard lol

definitely read the throne of glass series, im convinced she is linking them all in some way.

There is a part in throne of glass which im sure is spoken about in crescent city and i am dying to see if it is all linked.

TeainanIV · 26/08/2023 17:48

@bryceQ right I definitely need to read them! Eeek I cant wait for the next book!!

TeainanIV · 26/08/2023 17:52

@Covetthee aaah this is making me want to run out and buy them right now!! Is there an order you'd recommend reading them? Again, I've read mixed ways online! I'm re-reading ACOMAF now as it's my favourite (I will never not be in love with Ryhsand!!)

Ooh okay thanks, I’ll try that.

yeah, Azriel is a great character! Also I’m a little intrigued about what happens to Tamlin.

TeainanIV · 26/08/2023 18:08

@Wishfulthinkingonmypart yes same, as much as he drove me mad I do think he deserves a bit of a redemption arc! Also would like more on Lucien, he was one of my favourites in ACOTAR but then by the final book he'd almost faded into the background completely!

Communionmom · 26/08/2023 18:43

I think I gave up on a House of Sky and Breath halfway through - I just couldn't get into it.

But are you saying there's a Cresent City/ACOTAR crossover/universe type thing happening??? Because if there is I'll start reading CC again!!

TeainanIV · 26/08/2023 18:47

@Communionmom there is!! And the final few lines of CC2 left me internally screaming!! I know what you mean, it didn't hook me anywhere near as much as ACOTAR to begin with - but by the end I was swept up in it because I knew there was a crossover coming! I'll say no more as don't want to spoil anything!

OP posts:
Communionmom · 26/08/2023 19:15

@TeainanIV OMG!!!!! I'm going to get restarted on CC again. I kind of feel I should reread the first one but I find SJM very hard to reread when you know what's coming!

12BottlesOfVintageChampagne · 26/08/2023 19:44

Oh, hello my people! I love ACOTAR, and think Throne of Glass is a terrific work. Haven't read the new CC yet. Is it as good as Maas's other work?

TeainanIV · 26/08/2023 21:44

@12BottlesOfVintageChampagne hello! I really want to read the Throne of Glass books now - especially before CC3 is published next year! I ended up really enjoying the CC books - but it did take me longer to get in to them than ACOTAR. There's a lot more world building and I did find myself getting lost at points! But I am now fully invested in the characters and love them as much as those from ACPTAR!

OP posts:
TeainanIV · 26/08/2023 21:46

@Communionmom I know what you mean! I think I'd struggle to re-read CC. It's far more detailed in terms of the world its set in than ACOTAR I felt. I think I've revisited ACOTAR more because I just love the relationship of Feyre and Rhysand. With CC there's a lot of different POV too which I love but also found it meant I was getting muddled on storylines for each of the characters. I do hope we get more POV of different ACOTAR characters in the next CC book though!

Soubriquet · 26/08/2023 21:48

I love Sarah J Maas. I have all of her Throne of Glass books, up to date with the Cursebreaker books and I’m up to date with the crescent city too. I can’t wait for the next one

Soubriquet · 26/08/2023 21:49

It does look like people will need to have read ACOTAR before the next CC book…

TeainanIV · 26/08/2023 21:52

@Soubriquet yes definitely! And I'm really keen to read ToG books now as a few people have mentioned there's parts of those making an appearance in CC3 too! What order would you recommend reading them in? Part of me is gutted that there's not as much spice in them 😂 (I cant help it, I love the filth haha!!)

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 26/08/2023 21:53

Her version of Catwoman is really good as well. I have that on paperback too

Soubriquet · 26/08/2023 21:55

It doesn’t matter RE ACOTAR or TOG.

It’s ACOTAR that was mentioned in the end of CC so you do need to have read those before the next book is released.

There are currently 5 ACOTAR book with one of them being a little short story book.
