I'm thinking of reading Rider's ready for the TV series.
I love Old Sins by Penny Vincenzi, though any by the author are great, Old Sins and Wicked Pleasures are the only ones I've re-read.

Another Woman is my favourite Penny Vincenzi

The first one I ever read was Mistral’s daughter by Judith Krantz. I was about 13 and my mum got it free with a Vileda super mop. My eyes nearly popped out of my head!

Jilly Cooper. Riders, Rivals, Polo. Currently listening to Riders while I walk to and from the pony. It’s so cringingly awful it’s funny :)

Check out the author Nigel May. He wrote amazing bonkbusters. But they were much more than that, usually had a crime story or mystery running alongside.
Just gone through my Kindle and found them:

Trinity
Lovers and Liars
Revenge
Addicted
Deadly Obsession
Scandalous Lies

Enjoy!

I remember watching Lace and then Lace II with the family back in the 80s. I was in junior school. Can't imagine what my mum was thinking. Really enjoyed it though. Despite the subject matter!

I was going to say Lace, "which one of you bitches is my mother??"

Same! Those 80s bonkbusters were certainly an education for a young teenage girl! 😂

Im quite a fan of historical romantic stuff, I get some people think they are granny books with Fabio on the cover but I assure you these are not and they are hot fun reads:

Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase is simply the best and beloved by readers and Al romance authors -it has a wonderful female lead and I just love it!

Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas (and any of the Ravenels, Hathaways or Wallflowers by Kleypas)

Anything written by a Sarah Maclean, Ten rules to break is really good as is the gamblers series

The Penny Royal series by Julie Anne Long, book 6 (how the marquess was won) is my favourite

The Rakess by Scarlet Peckham

Cleo Watson’s new one Whips sounds promising, planning to take it away with me this summer.

Thank you everyone - will check out all the suggestions.

I think Lace and Jilly Cooper was prescribed reading for every teenage girl in the 80’s Grin - we passed them around the class in my girls school.

Loving all the old-school suggestions! Judith Krantz is awesome (I'll Take Manhattan is better than Mistral's Daughter imho!)

Have you read Jennifer Weiner? American author, some great novels but not what I'd thought of as a Bonkbuster.

BUT she did a smashing 3-novel series just meant for beach reading, and she did it really well- I recommend! All stand alone books, no need to read in order.

They are Big Summer (2020), That Summer (2021) and The Summer Place (2022).

More importantly- have you read Valley of the Dolls by Jaqcueline Susann? If not you need to go back to the beginning, this is THE ULTIMATE.

One of the best ever trashy novel lines. I mean, EVER!

I was going to suggest Valley of the Dolls but I see I've been beaten to it!

If you fancy something a little more explicit seach Amazon for Janice James. She writes very erotic short(ish) stories. They're not whole novels but they are very inexpensive. Powerful stuff though, not to be read on the train...

Rebecca Chance. Only read "Bad Brides" so far. It's an easy read, ludicrously over the top and very filthy.

"The Idea of You" by Robinne Lee. About a 39-year old woman having an affair with a 20-year old boyband singer. It's blatantly a fantasy about Harry Styles.

Bit late for a holiday read, I'm afraid. Maybe next year.

I feel very misled by this thread - Valley of the Dollsnis not filthy/explicit at all. “Bad brides” on the other hand….
