@HermioneWeasley , Tamra in Bad Brides is a glorious character. Shame Rebecca Chance seems to have stopped writing - I would love a sequel with Tamra at fifty.

HermioneWeasley · 29/09/2023 17:58

Agree @MaudGone , Tamra is fabulous

Dustyblue · 30/09/2023 06:06

Ok if Bad Brides is even on par let alone better than VOTD I must read it! Have just ordered on ebay 😁

I re-read Prime Time by Joan Collins, to put me in the mood for 'Behind The Shoulder Pads' which I've got on order at the library. It's an awesomely raunchy fiction novel and a thinly-veiled account of her time on Dynasty. Loved it loved it.

HermioneWeasley · 30/09/2023 12:57

@Dustyblue have ordered Prime Time. I bloody loved Dynasty

Dustyblue · 01/10/2023 05:10

@HermioneWeasley Ooh I think you'll enjoy it! When I first read it, I was convinced that sister Jackie Collins had written it. Very similar style & themes etc, but Joan is even dirtier.

I could discuss these two all day but will stop- let me know how you find it!

MaudGone · 01/10/2023 07:24

@Dustyblue , never read "Valley of the Dolls". But "Bad Brides" makes the Joan Collins/Jilly Cooper stuff look very tame. Over the top in every respect. Hope you enjoy.

Dustyblue · 01/10/2023 09:03

@MaudGone Excellent! I can't wait. I see she's written many others (rubs hands together).

VOTD is a bit of a gold-standard. The pills, abortions, Neely in the mental asylum, cancer, more pills, the viciousness of showbiz, Helen Lawson's decline, different pills, new pills.

Also worth a read is Shadow of the Dolls, ghost-written after Jacqueline Susann's death & apparently based on a manuscript she left. I expected to loathe it but didn't, it was nicely done and thoroughly enjoyable.

Try Daisy Jones & The Six for something not written forty years ago! Still got sex, drugs and rock n roll, just more current, I loved it and then binge read all of the other books by the same author.

LavenderfortheBees · 01/10/2023 11:35

If you like fantasy, the "Court of..." series by Sarah J Maas would work. All about high society faeries going to war and fucking each other. The first one is A Court of Thorns and Roses. Has plenty of sex but they get progressively more filthy the further through the series you get. I kept texting DP photos of extracts from the last one and he was Shock Shock Shock which was very funny.

Dustyblue · 02/10/2023 18:11

@TheInfusionist 😃aww, but I like stuff written 40 years ago!

Ok, Daisy Jones & the Six is on my local library catalogue so I've ordered it, thanks :)

Had to update the thread to say I just received my copy of BAD BRIDES in the mail.

I am excited. Bring on kiddo bedtime!

@HermioneWeasley have you got your copy of Prime Time yet?

hollyblueivy · 13/10/2023 10:32

Also bought bad brides as a result of this thread!

Dustyblue · 13/10/2023 14:25

@hollyblueivy How fab! Must say the cover alone is great!

Mine has a sticker offering a WIN prize of £500 Beauty Bag, or £500 High Street Vouchers, thanks to Cosmopolitan. 😆

Bit late, published 2104 & I live in Australia.

Dustyblue · 13/10/2023 14:41

That was 2014, where's the edit button again?

HermioneWeasley · 13/10/2023 17:22

@Dustyblue i got it on kindle but haven’t started yet. I did watch the documentary with Joan Collins on iPlayer and it’s glorious

Dustyblue · 19/10/2023 05:15

BAD BRIDES - how did I not know this book existed??

The 1st sex scene took me by surprise, the 2nd had my eyes boggling. Far freaking out.

I'm 173pp in and wondering what the hell is coming next. Please tell me ALL of her books are like this?

Nushyboots · 19/10/2023 05:19

The sleeping beauty series by Anne Roquelaure
(The claiming of sleeping beauty is book 1)
some of my favourite bonkfest books

The first one I ever read was Mistral’s daughter by Judith Krantz. I was about 13 and my mum got it free with a Vileda super mop. My eyes nearly popped out of my head!

Same here but most of my sex education came from Sweet Savage Love by Rosemary Rogers - that's a bonk buster if ever there was Grin

AlexandraJJ · 19/10/2023 06:19

Fiona Walker - Kiss Chase, French Relations they made me laugh out loud too

MaudGone · 20/10/2023 18:35

@Dustyblue , you were warned...

MaudGone · 23/10/2023 22:41

I got a couple of other Rebecca Chance books from the library and I'm afraid I found them a huge disappointment...

Dustyblue · 24/10/2023 02:32

@MaudGone Just finished Bad Brides and I can't see anything topping it. Thought it was too good to be true for all her books to be that awesome! 😍

None at my library so I ordered Bad Sisters & Divas.... won't get my hopes up but worth a shot!

'The Idea of You', Robinne Lee, as someone mentioned upthread. Takes itself far too seriously, but it's till enjoyable.
