Dinky, it's between 14-20% in athletes, 21-24% for fitness. So you must be incredibly lean

noddyholder · 06/05/2010 10:51

back on the no carbs wagon! Only way for me to really kill the hunger then if I eat sensibly I stay slim. 3 slices of bacon and a black coffee for breakfast and cottage cheese and ham for lunch I think. All my weight goes on my middle and I was slack and can feel the thick feeling I hate!

Aitch · 06/05/2010 10:53

she's an internationally famous actress, was in a comedy show called Friends? rather surprised you've not heard of her.

so toots skinnies down for premieres as well, does she? i think we need to hear MORE about this.

Aitch · 06/05/2010 10:54

how do i find out how much fat i'm packing?

smallishsheep · 06/05/2010 10:56

I have fat measuring scales. I have no idea how accurate they are. I think the best way to do it is with one of those pincher thingies, but I would frankly rather die.
Right, am off for a cupcake nice healthy walk down to the polling station

dinkystinky · 06/05/2010 11:04

Ah, I am quite lean Sheep - but with a nice roll of fat around my torso muscles too (attractive no?). Agree the 20 - 25% is a good, and sustainable, ratio to aim for. Enjoy the walk and the yummy cupcake man.

Have used personal trainers fat measuring scales in gym Aitch. There are various scales out there you can buy to measure fat percentage too like Sheep has got.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 06/05/2010 11:04

Ossom - very good for toning, but annoying after 30th time. You'll see a difference on legs, arms and bum first. My bum has been raised a number of inches. Lots of abs work. You'll need weights for levels 2 and 3.

Am very of your personal trainer Dinky. I WANT ONE. Preferably young and attractive and male.

Aitch · 06/05/2010 11:05

i am beginning to think that you are Not Fat At ALL, dinky.

dinkystinky · 06/05/2010 11:07

Hmm, mine is young attractive and female Porridge so no need to feel jealous. She does push me hard though (and love doing boxing training with her as makes working out more fun than lifting weights etc.) and asshe's a mate too, she's nice and cheap as far as PT sessions go.

BudaisintheZONE · 06/05/2010 11:11

Don't have the Shred DVD. Do have some other ones. Must hunt them out. Have hunted out the Wii Active thing I bought in Dublin and am in process of setting that up. There is a 30 day challenge on it. Am also going to blow up exercise ball I bought 5 years ago which has never been out of it's box!

Talk of Ossum has reminded me I joined her website! Double . Will have a look at workouts on there.

Dinky - you sound v lean!!

CheeeseOnToast · 06/05/2010 11:26

Ok well the size 10 jeans fit - woo! Only thing is they're a weird fit, I'm not entirely sure I like them. They seem baggy around the bum and thighs (something I never thought I'd say!) but the waist seems quite mean, and means my stomach and back don't look very appealing. I've put them back in the cupboard for now. They also feel quite cheap, they are quite thin. The jeans I currently have are from Topshop (bought about 5 years ago) and they are very stiff and tight and hold everything in and don't allow any wobbling. Maybe I should just man up and go and have a 'jeans buying session' in Topshop? Not sure about the DP ones....

dinkystinky · 06/05/2010 11:28

Hurrah for size 10 jeans fitting Cheese - I'd return them if I were you (cut sounds really odd) and use one of your last few days of pre-job leisure to make a trip to Topshop and get some new jeans there as you know they suit you.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 06/05/2010 11:41

Well done Cheeese. Buying jeans without trying them on is always a lottery. Topshop are good for jeans - I try on and then if they are pricey - like J Brand, buy them on ebay. I refuse to pay £100 plus for jeans. Can get BNWT Citizens for Humanity/7 fAM/JBrand for £25 or less.

dinkystinky · 06/05/2010 11:48

I am fat Aitch - around my tummy which is the very worst place to carry fat for all kinds of health reasons and also cos you cant spot reduce and its a bugger to shift that fat. Rest of me is lean. I look like a v muscular Mrs PotatoHead.

FWIW, first time I had my body fat percentage taken it was 39% (I was 12 and abit stone after concerted biffing with injured leg - this was around 8 years ago) - got it down to 20% before had DS1, then down to 17% before going on to have DS2.

CheeeseOnToast · 06/05/2010 11:53

Hmm think you're right Dinky and porridge. Might take them back and check out Topshop instead. At least I know I can squeeze into a size 10, makes me more confident to go and try loads on, if you see what I mean. Might go tomorrow morning, head to Poxford Street and get there before the crowds.

Right, am off out. polling station, gym, then back home for a late lunch. Might get some sushi on the way home hactually... that tends to fill me right up.

I have NO IDEA what fat percentage I am/have. With my new gym membership I get three free personal trainer sessions so I might get them to measure me

Stay in that zone, thread friends!

Hey Buda, sorry your ds is still being grumpy.
I do 8 minute stuff every day as I can watch it on my phone from youtube so still do it when the others are watchign tv, and you can do most of it dressed 'normally' so it does fit in with doing other normal stuff.

Went to starbucks with DD1 just now, had skinny caramel macchiato, very nice, but very naughty. didn't get a muffin though, even though DH did. DD1 was all excited as she is off school and DD2 was in nursery so she had us all to ourselves.

at all of you with personal trainers and size 10 angst.

DukesOfTripHazard · 06/05/2010 13:47

LOL at porridge showing her fat credentials. I could fill a large tureen with what I could scoop off my middle.

Aitch, The premieres, video mullarky was me channelling Jlo interview that someone linked to.

Come Buda! One day goal complacency can be all yours!!!!

Much more focussed after gym trip. They have fat scales was 37.8. Trainer says try for 30 by end next month. Gave me leaflet that says normal for 40+ is 23-34. So isn't as bad as I thought.

Porridge, are you Larrrrndon based? Where is best dept store for posh jeans (love that ebay idea) I like Paige and have had 2 pairs for 5 years but on budget now.

dinkystinky · 06/05/2010 13:53

JB - one day soon my friend you too will be feeling that angst. Oh yes. IME skinny anything is good - go for smallest size and feel like you're treating yourself. Well done on muffin avoidance.

Zone - glad your trainer agrees with me Maybe I should jack in the whole law thing and become a trainer instead. That range in the leaflet sounds good and achievable with focus!

bobbiewickham · 06/05/2010 13:58

Right, ladies, I need your help.

I have the mid-afternoon munchies and am within two minutes of a pret, a starbucks, a cafe nero and marks and sparks, as well as many sweet shops.

I am seriously plateauing and biffed all day yesterday so I need to stay on the straight and narrow.

Help.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 06/05/2010 14:02

No, not Larrrndon, any more. Norfolk, - so dept store choice is a drastically limited. House of Fraser do most of the designer brands so I go there - they have Paige.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 06/05/2010 14:03

Lock the doors Bob and throw the key down the loo.

GOING OUT AND BIFFING WILL NOT MAKE YOU HAPPY. THE PLATEAU WILL PASS. YOU ONLY GET FATTER IF YOU BIFF.

CybilLiberty · 06/05/2010 14:04

BOBBIE have a large glasss of water.

if you must eat something...get a salado, or a piece fo fruit or some crackers and cheese but STAY AWAY FROM CHOCOLATO

Please bobbie for the love of GOD dont cross to the dark side

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 06/05/2010 14:08
dinkystinky · 06/05/2010 14:27

Bobbie - go to M&S and get some of their pre-cut crudites with houmous thingies and eat those. Get huge bottle of water too and drink that.At least its healthy stuff you're snacking on then. Ignore Pret, coffee shops and the sweetshops etc - too much temptation there.

Lol at Princess-Cyb
