I’ve tired EVERYTHING as early forties woman for the last two years and my weight just seems to creep up. I’m thirteen stone something and five foot 7. I’m just greedy and now very confused! No idea how or where to start - advice on this please, and also your success/horror stories? Thank you 🙏

I would recommend the HUMAN BEING DIET or HBD. There is a book by Petronella Ravenshear about the science behind it but she talks about fat burning and how to get into fat burning mode. There are different phases to the diet - the first couple of days are quite strict then two weeks on a fairly strict diet and then a longer period with some occasional treats. It changed my taste buds and balanced my blood sugar which meant I no longer had the cravings for sweet foods that make the weight pile on. It is also very healthy and after a couple of weeks I really noticed that my skin looked much smoother. If you search it on here, there is a mums net thread about it somewhere.

Im 64 Ive been fat all my adult life size 20 to 22. Couldnt lose the weight no matter how hard I tried. Metabolic problems.
A year and a half later Im size 8 to 10, 5 foot 5, 9 stone.
I used mounjaro lost around 2 pounds a week and now haul weights at the gym.
I have a totally new lease of life.
I never thought Id lose the weight but here we are.
I had no side effects at all other than when I tried 15mgs the highest dose. It caused gut havoc so I went back down to 10mgs.
Im determined never to get fat again. Im staying on a maintenance dose for a couple of years to be sure.
Good luck if you try it.

Do you mean jabs? There is a weight loss injections sub board on here that will give you more information. You would be looking at Mounjaro or Wegovy.

arlequin · 28/08/2026 07:10

@throwaway3749574think jags is the Scottish word

Gettingbysomehow · 28/08/2026 07:10

I now only eat fresh home cooked food. No processed stuff at all and no alcohol. It works for me.

throwaway3749574 · 28/08/2026 07:13

@arlequinahhh ok, thank you - never knew that!! Apologies to OP

Have a look at online pharmacies there is loads monj.co.uk. You will have to have a online video consultation.

I lost 7 stone with Mounjaro size 18 to 8 best decision I ever made.

GnomeDePlume · 28/08/2026 07:39

I have been on mounjaro, prescribed for t2 diabetes, for nearly two years. So far lost 8 stone with another 4 to go.

For me it has probably been a lifesaver.

There are lots of threads for new starters. These will help you.

Your experience will be unique to you. Some people get side effects, some dont. It doesnt work for everyone, if that happens to you then it wasnt the right thing not that you have failed.

You will still need to do the work, eat less and better, move more. Mounjaro helps this as you will tend to feel fuller for longer, you may find yourself less tempted by less healthy, carb heavy food. Mounjaro also helps reduce inflamation which can help with moving more.

The top tip, Mounjaro slows digestive transit. To counter this, up your fibre intake significantly and your fluid intake exponentially. Your bowels will thank you.

Mysticmaiden · 28/08/2026 12:14

Look on www.monj.co.uk for mounjaro or www.igovy.co.uk for wegovy to compare prices of regulated pharmacies.
Most pharmacies now also offer the tablets which could be worth starting on if you don't want to start straight on injections.
I was 13st when I started mounjaro at 5ft 3 bmi 32.8, had gained a stone in a year and was mid 40s and had prediabetes, high cholesterol, high BP and on the start of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease at a size 14-16, now I'm a size 10 and 8st 10-12lbs and all health issues now normal. The issue with being female and over 40 is hormones, peri menopause and insulin resistance, I also have really bad genes!

Thank you 🙏 this is all helpful - and to a PP, yes jags must be Scottish for jabs (or is jabs English for jags haha - maybe that’s a whole other thread?!)

So how do I start??

Like I said you need to find out what medication you want to go on mounjaro, wegovy or tablets, then go on www.monj.co.uk or www.igovy.co.uk

You pick your provider and complete an online form and send a photo in tight clothing. If approved, you'll receive your pen or tablets very quickly.

I started with Voy and I'm 5 weeks in. I plan on using a slow and steady approach and staying at a lower dose. But you can swap and change your provider to get a new customer deal.

SilenceInside · 28/08/2026 17:36

@hiddeneverythin what is your BMI currently? Most pharmacies would need a BMI of 30 plus, or 27 plus with a weight related health condition, or 27 plus for certain ethnicities. Your BMI is going to be between 28.5 and 30.5 depending on what the "something" is in 13st something.

hiddeneverythin · 28/08/2026 19:39

@SilenceInsideim too scared to stand on the scales to find out what the “something” is but i should do something about it before it becomes 14 “something “ and more!

Are we not allowed to share our referral codes for GLP1 jabs?

Nope. Both in the terms and conditions of the pharmacy referral scheme and in MN guidelines, so they will be deleted if reported. You can, I think, still share them privately via PM.

SilenceInside · 28/08/2026 19:49

@hiddeneverythin If your BMI is less than 30 and none of the other circumstances for a BMI less than 30 apply, then you will need to use one of the pharmacies that prescribe off licence, that's all. So, Voy or MedExpress are the two that I know of who will prescribe if your BMI is 25 or higher but less than 30.

Foolish1984 · 28/08/2026 19:54

@hiddeneverythin Have DM’d you

This is such outdated advice and it keeps being repeated on MN. Most pharmacies will accept a BMI of 25+ with an ‘individual clinical review’, ie you fill out a long application form and send some photos. Asda asked me (BMI 27) to send in head to toe photos, in tight clothes, showing stomach! I don’t have a ‘weight related condition’.

I’m losing sensibly and slowly on Mounjaro and have not needed to go above 2.5 yet, although that will probably change. It’s been genuinely life changing.

SilenceInside · 31/08/2026 22:00

@ownedbymydogs apologies for the outdated advice. Odd that Asda still say on their website that you need a BMI of 30 (or 27 as per my previous post) in order to access weight loss medications as someone who has never been prescribed them before. They should probably update their website content. As should all the other pharmacies that state the same criteria. The only ones who make it clear online that they allow people to start with a BMI from 25 with no other criteria are Voy and MedExpress.

ownedbymydogs · 01/09/2026 04:27

Apologies @SilenceInside , I didn’t read your second post, which bizarrely completely contradicts your first.

Happy to recommend Asda @hiddeneverythin , quite reasonably priced and very easy to click and collect. Weighing and taking the photos is the worst bit!
