Yes, @ajandjjmum in theory you would hope that wouldn't happen, but I think they do a risk computation looking at weight, blood sugar levels, blood pressure etc and if that shows a high enough risk you'd get a prescription. Reducing weight and blood sugar would reduce the risk index.
Mind you I'm not full of confidence. When I told the practice nurse at my diabetes review that I was starting Ozempic her response was "what's Ozempic". Which would be fine if it wasn't that I got exactly the same initial response from my GP.

Hi everyone,
For anyone struggling to source, I've just bought 0.25mg pen from Rightangled. It's at the old price.

I've been on 0.5mg for a while and will just double up the dose. It's better than no dose and having to start again.
Hope the company's legit Grin

mumwheresmyribena · 06/07/2023 10:31

@UsernameFail Mine arrived the day after I paid for it. RM signed for and with ice packs.

UsernameFail · 06/07/2023 10:34

That's good to know @mumwheresmyribena

Kfjsjdbd · 06/07/2023 10:37

Thanks @UsernameFail Ive done the same this morning but will use it as 2 weeks worth of 1mg

UsernameFail · 06/07/2023 10:44

I'm tempted to buy another pen at that price. I should go up to 1mg as I don't think the 0.5mg is doing much and my weight loss is slow.

Can anyone tell me what the old price for a 1mg pen was please? @Kfjsjdbd @mumwheresmyribena

Kfjsjdbd · 06/07/2023 10:49

Oh I didn’t get 1mg, I got 0.25mg which will just last me 2 weeks using it as a 1mg dose (hope that makes sense?). I’ve got a current pen with 3 weeks left so have 5 weeks in total now. I’ll have to hope that there’s something else coming through in that time!

mathis2006 · 06/07/2023 11:40

@Kfjsjdbd did you have to submit a pic of passport or driving licence? Is that a normal request?

Kfjsjdbd · 06/07/2023 11:56

Hi, yes a normal request

@UsernameFail My last 1mg pens came from Quickmeds back when the price was £149.

UsernameFail · 06/07/2023 12:44

Aah ok thanks @Kfjsjdbd

I think I'll stick to taking 0.5mg dose until the supply improves

Hopefully the price will come down too

UsernameFail · 06/07/2023 12:44

Thank you @mumwheresmyribena

I know that this question has been asked before but grateful to hear about more recent experiences. I am travelling to the US for 2 weeks and would need to take a brand new pen with me to continue my treatment plan. Has anyone travelled with a pen? Did you need a prescription? And were you asked questions about it? I am travelling with the husband and daughter and haven’t told them I’m on Ozempic and would hate to have to admit it to them because I get caught at airport security.

SkinnySally · 06/07/2023 15:53

Also, did you have to take the pen out of your bag and put it in a clear plastic bag?

Peridot1 · 06/07/2023 15:55

I have traveled with it and put it in a separate clear bag and put it with my other liquids. It’s not advised to put it in checked baggage as it can apparently get too cold.

not sure how you will get around your family not knowing really.

Thanks @Peridot1. I could put it in a clear bag with my other liquids, I think that would be fine. Were you asked any questions about it?

Peridot1 · 06/07/2023 16:18

No I wasn’t. I had it separate as I said and the person supervising the trays going through the X-ray just called down to the person on the X-ray that an Epi pen was coming through.

Right tangled has gone up £50.00 from this morning. I ordered & it's been sent out already. The 1 mg I ordered from the chemist site has not even been processed yet. In spite of me phoning them up & speaking to a very non-committal American receptionist.

Karmakamelion · 06/07/2023 17:19

I spoke to a pharmacist at quickmeds who is hoping that they will be able to source from their original supplier soon and expect to reduce the price accordingly.

MotherofTerriers · 06/07/2023 17:31

My order from daily chemist still hasn't been processed
Rightangled were speedy though

Kfjsjdbd · 06/07/2023 17:34

I’ve managed to get 0.25 from Rightangled today at £150 and 1mg from Numan for £255, but I had an original subscription from Numan so that’s why I could get hold of it.

I at least have enough for the next 8 weeks! Really really hope to see prices come down soon.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 06/07/2023 17:57

Juniper have warned me my next pen will cost 225. They aren't open to new customers currently.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 06/07/2023 18:43

Wow - Quickmeds have gone up to £274.95 but still no stock anyway.

Whatsherusername · 06/07/2023 21:32

@SkinnySally I got back from canada on sunday and had no issues, had the pen in the liquids bag for hand luggage, but i had other meds there (creams) and they didnt say anything. Just brought a copy of the prescription with me just in case

Unless your meds are controlled drugs, you only need to take your prescription if your liquid meds are more than 100ml, so not for Ozampic. I always put meds in a separate clear bag rather than in with the liquids.
