How about that for an arbitrary goal?

This is what it’s going to look like:

26/4 Day 0: 11st6
1/5 Day 5: 11st5
6/5 Day 10: 11st4
11/5 Day 15: 11st3
16/5 Day 20: 11st2
21/5 Day 25: 11st1
26/5 Day 30: 11st0
31/5 Day 35: 10st13

I will be strength training twice a week and running twice a week (somewhere around week 5/6 of couch to 5k). And getting on top of my blood sugar so I am not snacky, with some of the ideas from the Glucose Revolution book.

I need the accountability of a thread I have actually started. I’m well aware I may end up talking to myself, but it’d be lovely to have some pals if this feels like a feasible goal to anyone else 😊

Weighed in this morning and I'm 1 kg down!! 🥳

Z0rr0 · 04/05/2023 07:54

Argh! I've been losing weight lb by lb since January but I'm stuck on a massive plateau and it's doing my head in. Since joining here I've been extra strict and I'm still just bouncing around 12,10 / 12,9 and back. It doesn't make any sense to me and it upsets me irrationally because maintaining my calorie intake is so hard.
I aim for 1000 calories to have a 500 daily deficit to lose lb a week but haven't lost for about three weeks.
Make it make sense. How can my calorie count come in at just over 1000 yesterday whilst my Fitbit says I burned nearly 2,500 (more than 3000 on Saturday).
Science says this should not be possible. Why is my body so difficult? What can I change?
The only thing I can think is that because of mum's taxi duties the last two nights I ate my salad at 10 o'clock. Will eating earlier make a difference?
Can anyone help because it literally makes me want to cry. Eating so little every day is really hard. (Please don't say starvation mode. That's not a thing.)

Z0rr0 · 04/05/2023 10:44

Sorry, I'm hijacking, I'll stop.

Oh actually I came to the weight loss chat to ask about loosing 7lb - so you guys could really help me! Smile
Currently 10 stone (which I am well aware is not huge - but it's probably the heaviest i've ever been)
Would like to loose the 1/2 stone - have a holiday booked in July so have some time. I don't really want to go on slim fast or weightwatchers or anything like that really but I am peri-menopausal so I'm finding the weight doesn't shift off as easily as it used to.
I also have a painful shoulder condition at the moment which makes vigorous exercise pretty difficult. (Frozen Shoulder)

Does anyone have any advice what "plan" i can follow or am i better off simply calorie counting and cutting food down in general.

Please be kind - my first post in the weightloss area.

Hi All, I thought I'd link back to my first comment as you guys have been so busy with posts. Sounds like you're all making a great start so now I feel like I'm lagging behind a little!
I weighed myself Monday I'm actually up t 10 st 2lbs which was disappointing - so now I really have 9lbs to loose not 7.

So far I've decided to eat Vegetarian for 3/4 nights per week hoping to cut out some saturated fats. I batch cooked a curry and Moroccan stew Tuesday which I've really enjoyed.
I usually have sandwiches for lunch every day - always have done so it's a hard habit to break. For now I'm cutting down to 1 sandwich (ie 1 slice of bread) rather than 2. which make it easy for me to not have to change what I eat too much.

I've bought one of those ball hoop exercise things - slowly getting the hang of it and building up to 20 mins of that each day. Also bought a skipping rope - but my goodness that it harder than i remember it being!!! So far have only managed about 7 mins of that at a time!

Also having physio on my poorly shoulder so hopefully will get some permanent results with that treatment so I can get more exercise done.

I went for a team meeting earlier in the week an ofcourse the table was full of biscuits and sweets etc. Almost impossible to resist some homemade cakes someone had bought in Sad

Target is to reach 9 1/2 stone by mid June.

toomuchlikemyusername · 04/05/2023 13:48

@Z0rr0
I'm no expert on weight loss but just wanted to acknowledge your post and offer some sympathy. I can see how that must be getting you down.
How do you measure your calorie intake? Do you weigh everything you eat? Any hidden calories in things like dressings?
Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge might come along with some thoughts but in the meantime I'm sending best wishes and Flowers

Z0rr0 · 04/05/2023 18:02

Thank you @toomuchlikemyusername. Appreciate your post but really don't want to hijack.
Yes I do weigh everything and log on Noom. Don't really have salad dressings but if I do I also measure them out. It's frustrating and it does get me down but think I just need to woman up and crack on. No one needs to hear me whining when this should be about the wins.
Good luck everyone.

Howmanysleepsnow · 05/05/2023 07:12

@Z0rr0 I have exactly the same issue! Right now my plan is to snack on protein in small amounts through the day as I think those days I tend to lose more than on my days when I eat the same calories in a couple of salad/ vegetable/ fruit based meals. I’m hoping it works… currently 1lb down from 4 days ago so we’ll see!

Amdone123 · 05/05/2023 10:38

@Z0rr0 , I don't have any expert advice either but wanted to acknowledge your post.
You're not whining BTW, posts like yours are good because it's not easy and it's good for others to read and know they're not alone.
Keep going, it will probably start to come off soon 💐

Z0rr0 · 05/05/2023 13:40

Well done @Howmanysleepsnow. Yes I switched to snacking on protein this week too.
It's a bit TMI but I also struggle with constipation which doesn't help. I think because there's just not a lot of substance to what I'm eating, so I've started taking Fybogel because the constipation keeps the weight on.
Good luck. I find it so disheartening to be working so hard at diet and exercise and then see nothing for it. But hopefully if I stick with it there will be a breakthrough.

Z0rr0 · 05/05/2023 13:41

Thanks @Amdone123. Appreciate your words.
Fingers crossed.

HelpMeGetYouOut · 06/05/2023 11:22

Morning all.

I'm not planning ahead on my predicted losses but here's my update so far:

Day 1 (1.05.23) - 66.9kg
Day 4 (04.05.23) - 65.9kg
Day 6 (06.05.23) - 65.7kg

Definitely heading in the right direction 🙌

MrDrEvilPorkChopToYou · 06/05/2023 16:11

Realised I forgot to update with my weigh-in yesterday:

30-4 Day 0 - 12st 2lbs
5-5 Day 5 - Target: 12st 1lb Actual: 12st 1lb

I’m happy to be 1lb down (and on target) but it feels like hard slog for every ounce! I have a party this evening and another tomorrow, which feels like sabotage, but I really want to go

Happyface120 · 08/05/2023 09:15

Forgot to check in on Saturday!

30/4 Day 1: 11st5
6/5 Day 7: Goal: 11st4 Actual:11st 2! (-3lb total)
11/5 Day 12: 11st3
16/5 Day 17: 11st2
21/5 Day 22: 11st1
26/5 Day 27: 11st0
31/5 Day 32: 10st13

Pleased with that- gives me a bit of a buffer, just hoping I can keep momentum up. Have really stuck to plan this week, so glad it has shown on scales!

HelpMeGetYouOut · 08/05/2023 12:42

Well done you both.

I absolutely stuffed my face at a neighbour's coronation party yesterday so it's back to eating sensibly today.

toomuchlikemyusername · 09/05/2023 09:01

I forgot to update my stats yesterday, so here they are.

28/04 10st10lb
03/05 10st9lb. Actual-10st 8lb4oz
08/05 10st8lb. Actual 10st7lb4oz
13/05 10st7lb
18/05 10st6lb
23/05 10st5lb
28/05 10st4lb
02/06 10st3lb

Happy with that. Managed to keep within calorie requirement all but one day (Coronation Day food saw me go a bit over but not madly so).

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

hmm, that didn’t go as planned! Not gone over 1400 calories most days (1800 once due to comfort eating!)

I’m going to keep my goals the same for now, and hope it’s just a (massive) fluctuation 😬

Big Red Cross for me too @Howmanysleepsnow! Gone a bit backwards. I’ll check in again in the morning, hope it’s just a brief fluctuation. This is the problem with the 5 day weigh in interval I guess.

OP posts:
Howmanysleepsnow · 12/05/2023 08:18

Well, it seems mine wasn’t a 1 day fluctuation… to keep up motivation I’m going to add my (excessively large atm) waist measurements. I’ve decided only to panic if both go up 😂

at least I’ve some sort of downward trend!

ifonly4 · 12/05/2023 15:32

Just wanted to let you know I decided I needed to lose 7lbs (ideally 9lbs) the later end of 2022. I didn't plan to lose it as quick as you are, but I stuck at it through the ups and downs. I've just about hit the 9lb mark and just wanted to say do stick at it through all the ups and downs, it's worth it.

I accepted that if I was eating out I'd try and have just a few less calories in the day and try and make better choices while out. Also, if I really fancied a cake with my coffee that was fine as long as it was low calorie lunch. What might seem like small adjustments is still beneficial.

ICanDoIt23 · 12/05/2023 15:56

I like your thinking @Howmanysleepsnow 🙂 I haven’t been measuring at all, maybe I should dig my tape measure out.

Well the scales did say 11st3 this morning, but I don’t quite believe it so I’ll wait till next weigh in to officially update.

Thanks @ifonly4 , and well done for sticking with it!
