How about that for an arbitrary goal?

This is what it’s going to look like:

26/4 Day 0: 11st6
1/5 Day 5: 11st5
6/5 Day 10: 11st4
11/5 Day 15: 11st3
16/5 Day 20: 11st2
21/5 Day 25: 11st1
26/5 Day 30: 11st0
31/5 Day 35: 10st13

I will be strength training twice a week and running twice a week (somewhere around week 5/6 of couch to 5k). And getting on top of my blood sugar so I am not snacky, with some of the ideas from the Glucose Revolution book.

I need the accountability of a thread I have actually started. I’m well aware I may end up talking to myself, but it’d be lovely to have some pals if this feels like a feasible goal to anyone else 😊

I'll join in please! Been at it a while but would love to go abit harder! 7lbs this month would be great! 1500-1700 calories and 20k-30k steps for me!

10st 13 this morning!

ICanDoIt23 · 01/05/2023 10:22

Right then, Day 5!

26/4 Day 0: 11st6
1/5 Day 5: 11st5 - Weigh in: 11st4.5 ✅
6/5 Day 10: 11st4
11/5 Day 15: 11st3
16/5 Day 20: 11st2
21/5 Day 25: 11st1
26/5 Day 30: 11st0
31/5 Day 35: 10st13

Slightly ahead of schedule but just in from a run and therefore probably a bit dehydrated 😄 or maybe a nice bit of buffer to be going on with.

How’s everyone doing?

@ICanDoIt23 , yay, that's great. Whether it's a pound or 1.5 ( and I'd take the 1.5 ), you're on track. Well done.
I've actually lost 2lb this week. As you know, I'm only an honorary member / a mere bystander 🤣, but I seem to do better when I don't make plans.
I think the pressure makes me crumble 😩

Oof. I'm on Noom. I did it last year and it worked for a bit and then I just plateaued for weeks and got really disheartened and slipped.
So I am back on it mostly for calorie counting, accountability, exercise tracking.
But Noom's recommendations for my calories were too high which was why I stopped losing weight. That James guy on Insta who's hilarious about weight loss, I used his calculator and it came out way lower.
So I am currently trying to stick to about 1000 calories a day to achieve a 500 calorie deficit (I'm 53, menopausal) to lose a pound a week.
I've lost about 16lbs since the start of the year. But it is really hard. I try to do 10k steps or a gym session every day if I can.
Even with that - I'm basically living on soup for lunch and a salad for dinner nearly every day - I still plateau and lose nothing some weeks.
But I've got a wedding to go to in June so I desperately want to lose more.
At this rate it could take me another year before I get to my target weight, so I hope I can stick with it. It's the hardest thing I've ever done.
I was 13s12 when I started in January. 12s9 now. Was nearly 15s when I first started for real at the end of 2019.
Just have to keep plugging away.
Good luck everyone. I get really down on the weeks when I don't lose and I find it hard when friends post huge weight loss gains from relatively small lifestyle changes because I was already someone who ate pretty healthily. I don't eat meat, didn't eat cake, didn't eat loads of biscuits or sweets or drink cans. So cutting stuff out has been really hard. I just am someone who gains weight on the recommended 1800 calories. I even went to see my GP hoping a blood test would tell me I had a thyroid issue. But I don't. Never been so disappointed to hear there was nothing wrong with me! His advice was 'can't you just be you and be happy?'
But I wasn't. So here we are. It's tough but touch wood it is working.

Amdone123 · 01/05/2023 11:42

@Z0rr0 well, overall you're doing well. It's coming off slowly but surely - I hear you regarding the menopause though. It's so difficult as you get older.
You say some weeks you plateau but what about non scale victories - I bet you've lost inches, etc.
Some weeks I lose a pound, stay the same, etc but I just feel so much better when I'm eating properly ( and not drinking - but that's another thread !).
Keep going, I think you're doing well.

Howmanysleepsnow · 01/05/2023 11:49

@Z0rr0 who is the James guy on insta? I suspect I need him!

Z0rr0 · 01/05/2023 11:57

@Howmanysleepsnow He is @jamessmithpt and he's funny and rude and just blasts the diet industry saying it all comes down to calorie deficit. He takes the piss out of the numpties posting their workouts online making ridiculous claims. He's fun but challenging because even after all this time I still want there to be a magic bullet.

Howmanysleepsnow · 01/05/2023 12:01

Thanks @Z0rr0 …. Apparently I need 112g protein. How does anyone manage to eat that much protein??? That’s 2 chicken breasts, a tub of cottage cheese and 6 eggs! It seems a massive amount for 1 day…

Z0rr0 · 01/05/2023 12:04

Thanks @Amdone123 I just checked and it was actually end of 2020 not 2019 when I first started for real and was nearly 15s. So I need to remember how far I've come but it's really hard being so strict almost all the time and the weight just trickling off.
Sorry for moaning, it just really gets me down and I kind of hate myself a bit for being so happy when the scale creeps down by another pound. I wish it didn't matter so much.

Z0rr0 · 01/05/2023 12:07

@Howmanysleepsnow Oh I just used his calorie calculator and don't pay much attention to the protein thing but he might be right as protein helps you feel full. As a veggie / fish eater I find it quite hard to find different lean proteins to make my salads more filling and interesting.

HelpMeGetYouOut · 01/05/2023 13:21

Can I join you all?

I'm 66.9kg this morning and would like to be in the 65s.

I weight train x2 a week and walk 10000 every day.

I'm not calorie counting or doing anything drastic food-wise, I'm just being more mindful about what I'm eating.

zizza · 01/05/2023 14:19

Can I join you for some accountability please? I'm the heaviest I've ever been (by a few pounds), the most sedentary, and perimenopausal. Some special events coming up in the not too distant future and I feel rubbish. I lost weight really well a few years ago on the 8 well blood sugar diet and felt really well, so I'm following those principles. I want to start running again - have enjoyed doing the C25k before - but knees and ankles are a bit clunky at the mo so want to wait until I've lost some weight.

I started on the 22/4 at 13st 7lb (I usually weigh in kg but have calculated specially for you 😆) but will carry on with the same dates and plan as the OP - I like the 5 day interval 😀 and don't expect to keep losing as much as at the start:

(22/4 Day -4: 13st 7)
26/4 Day 0: 13st 4.5
1/5 Day 5: 13st 2.5
6/5 Day 10: 13st 1
11/5 Day 15: 13st 0
16/5 Day 20: 12st 13
21/5 Day 25: 12st 12
26/5 Day 30: 12st 11
31/5 Day 35: 12st 10

Going to walk the dogs....

QuintanaRoo · 01/05/2023 15:40

Did a 33 mile bike ride yesterday. Stated the day with yoghurt and a banana Did have a tuna sandwich for lunch but avoided cake but did have a Frappuccino later. Chicken salad for dinner.

weighed myself this morning and have lost 0.5kg since Friday.

skipped breakfast today. Had a hoisin noodle salad from M&S for lunch and two eggs and some blueberries. Have got a chicken and rice noodle salad for dinner from M&S as well. Took the dog for a long walk this morning.

QuintanaRoo · 01/05/2023 15:41

@zizza sounds like you’re doing great, well done on the loss.

@zizza sounds like you’re doing great, well done on the loss.

Thank you. It's a long timing coming (off) 😆

I wish you could bottle whatever it is that switches in your brain to get you on track. I've been trying half-heartedly for ages and then suddenly I feel all motivated.

zizza · 01/05/2023 17:35

And a long way to go as I want to get under 11st. I'm going for 7lbs at a time....

wheresmyshoe · 01/05/2023 17:52

I'm in I need this motivation, I'm at your starting weight OP.

MrDrEvilPorkChopToYou · 02/05/2023 08:26

Morning everyone- just checking in, for my own accountability, really! Hope you all had a good (and not too hungry!) long weekend

I did a short run on Sunday (C25k) and some abs exercises, and then yesterday did a 30D Shred workout (Jillian Michaels) I now have a serious case of the DOMS and can barely move. So today is an enforced rest day Grin

I know I need to tackle eating more than exercising but I feel really unhealthy so hopefully this will help

HelpMeGetYouOut · 02/05/2023 11:11

Morning all.

I'm just relaxing with a cup of tea after a good gym session.

In the past few months, my day off work has been a bit of a trigger to graze and over-snack. It's nice to feel in a different headspace today.

toomuchlikemyusername · 02/05/2023 16:54

Hello all

Just checking in. My first weigh day is tomorrow, I'm hoping to see some loss as I've been trying really hard to limit my intake this week. Have found this thread really helpful with the motivation. Hope everyone else is doing Ok.

10st 11 for me this morning! Got some kitchen scales yesterday so no more guess work with calories will hopefully lead to faster results!

toomuchlikemyusername · 03/05/2023 13:13

@tedtor Thank you! And well done to you too! Good scales make such a difference - both in the kitchen and the bathroom!
