Hello, so have just ordered Huel, have tried exante before which did work afew years ago, but weight has slowly crept up to a new high! Saw advert for huel and spur of the moment have ordered it. Has anyone else tried it and or doing it at the moment.
I'm starting a thread now as when I did exante we had a fab support group on here.
Current weight is 12st 9 would like to lose at least a stone.
Need motivation as just feel stuck in a rut! Can't seem to shake it off, I don't know if it's cause of age 46 and menopausal or just life has got on top of me!

Oh great @HAF1119 ! Yes so during the week doing 100% HUEL - am finding it ok fibre wise (well a bit constipated which I’m hoping will sort itself out) - but in fact much more easy in my system than the vegan protein powder I was using. Today had hurl for 2 meals and then a salad for dinner. I’ll do the same tomorrow and then back to 100% on Monday. I haven’t dared weigh myself n- I really not sure I can handle knowing what I weigh now!! But will work up the courage in a week or so - I reckon I am about 69kg and want to get down to 63. What about you? X

I'm finding it okay! I have been eating healthier since Jan so gone from 20st 1lb to 18st 11lb when I started huel and to 18st 7lb in the last 1.5 weeks since doing to so it's given it a bit of a boost! I have a long way to go as had put on about 5 stone in about 18 months and was not healthy at all!

I'm doing the hot huel once a day this weekend along with 2 shakes - before that I was doing 2 shakes plus a healthy meal at about 500-600 cals. I think the healthy meal was causing a lot of the digestion issues though and where I've gone from convenience food (times just been so short lately so had a lot of sandwiches, grabbed takeaways etc) to making up large salads/veg dishes it was a bit too much of an adjustment. Am adding a small amount of greens and carrots to the shakes and hoping to up it over time.

I don't massively like the hot meals to be honest so hoping to go back to a 'proper meal' soon but it is taking away all thinking and time in food prep which is amazing!

I really like the shakes too :) my goal is to get down to 14st (ideally more but a 6st weight loss feels like a massive target already). Fingers crossed it keeps working! I sometimes find my weight just stagnates after a while when I keep doing the same thing and have to mix it up to get anywhere. I'd like to not do that with this as I do find it really convenient! X

Where you are 100% Huel is that all through the shakes? And are you on Huel black or the white one?

Fluffywithteeth · 14/04/2024 16:05

That’s amazing progress @HAF1119 !
im on black . What about you? I have got a pack of the hot meal (chilli I think?) which I didn’t love but figure is good to have in the cupboard for those days when I really need to chew something!

on the shakes I’ve got a pack of unflavoured and a pack of coffee caramel which I mix half and half. I think I’m going to try the choc next - what about you? X

I may get an unflavoured and do a half and half! That's a good idea as they are pretty sweet!

I'm on black - I have the strawberry and cream and the banana and I do add some spinach and carrots in them as they are super sweet and it dulls it down a little. Nice flavours just a little bit on the sweet side for me!

The hot ones so far I've got chicken and mushroom which I actually do like now though didnt on first try, and bolognaise which I'm yet to try!

How many shakes are you having on the huel only days?

Fluffywithteeth · 14/04/2024 20:04

Like the sound of chicken and mushroom - will give that a go. On huel only days I have 3 shakes and usually 10 almonds - being v strict so I can be less trust at weekends!

what about you?

HAF1119 · 14/04/2024 20:48

Yeah I'm 2 shakes and a 400-600 cal meal generally! Though this weekend was full huel 3 meals. Are you finding it tough or not too bad? I actually found it harder this week and today and yesterday I almost felt like I could have not had the last one! Which has really surprised me as I was expecting it to get harder as I went along! Then again it could be because the weekend is full and busy 😂 and when I'm at work it's so much easier for my mind to drift off to food! I'm doing 16:8 fasting on each day so just eating between the hours of 9am-5pm too

Fluffywithteeth · 15/04/2024 18:42

Good for you! I’m not finding it too bad. I do eat from boredom / habit so it’s catching that. Generally if I can get to 7pm then I’m of which is weird cos usually I’m a terrible late night nibbler!

MrsMeanwhile · 18/04/2024 19:32

Hello, I've just put my huel order in. I've got 2.5 stone to lose. I've ordered chocolate powder, Bolognese hot and savory and some chocolate bars! My plan is to have

  • one scoop of chocolate in the morning
  • one scoop of savory for lunch and a chocolate bar
  • normal dinner which I guess I need to calorie count.

Can I join in with you guys? Feels lonely and overwhelming otherwise!

Fluffywithteeth · 18/04/2024 19:47

be great for you to join @MrsMeanwhile ! That sounds like a good plan. Yes, would def recommend being super scrupulous about the cals in your evening meal - be terrible to be disciplined all day and then inadvertently go awry at dinner . I’m going to actually weigh myself tomorrow - I haven’t been able to face it but after a week I figure I may as well

how you doing @HAF1119 ?

ridingfreely · 18/04/2024 20:06

Following as keen to loose some weight and didn't realise huel was good for weight loss

I'm still sticking to it but haven't weighed myself in about 4 days. I was obsessively daily weighing and was stagnant, just stuck on 18st 7 same every morning, so I'm not going to look at them for a little while just so hopefully it's a pleasant surprise when I do!

I am doing okay on it though!! And welcome to the two new joiners!

I may make a seperate thread for us does that sound ok? Save having to go past all the old stuff to get to the conversation we were having!

Let me know what the bars are like, I haven't ventured into the bars yet! I've been doing 2 scoops shake, 2 scoops hot Huel (chicken and mushroom - I did try the carbonara that was a whole new form of torture and now have a great big bag of the gross stuff!) and then a 400kcal dinner. Though the past few days I've just not wanted to do the dinner and have had a second shake. Trying to stick to between 1200 and 1400 a day. Sometimes I have additions in the huel shakes. It does help to put something extra in it for me.. I've been freezing spinach and adding that then putting it through a blender so it's sort of thick and icy as that feels more substantial, and I actually quite enjoy it! And if I'm really going to push the boat out then a handful of frozen blueberries makes it really nice :)

Bear in mind if you're doing 1 scoop only that you'll have only had 400cals to get you through to dinner so you may want to bulk your shakes up a bit with some additional greens/protein. Quark is not bad in it and is high protein and low in fat and not bad on cals. Higher protein helps with feeling full longer to get you to the next meal and not feel like you need to eat so much come dinner time!

I'd definitely be up for a fresh thread for this.

I think I'm having too many calories.

Weekly weigh in sounds like a plan. We could all choose a day to weigh!

Humm the bar wasn't massively nice. I went for the selection box of 12 and today I had a caramel. It tastes very synthetic.
