Hello, so have just ordered Huel, have tried exante before which did work afew years ago, but weight has slowly crept up to a new high! Saw advert for huel and spur of the moment have ordered it. Has anyone else tried it and or doing it at the moment.
I'm starting a thread now as when I did exante we had a fab support group on here.
Current weight is 12st 9 would like to lose at least a stone.
Need motivation as just feel stuck in a rut! Can't seem to shake it off, I don't know if it's cause of age 46 and menopausal or just life has got on top of me!

@TheresaBackinbud none at all as its definitely not hardcore like Lighter Life (had friends do that!) And am eating normally but healthily apart from the Huel shake each day, will still have bits of chocolate etc so dont feel particularly deprived

InconvenientPeg · 15/05/2023 09:18

This just popped up on active for me, and gave me the motivation to make a shake for today's lunch and one for tomorrow! I stick them on the freezer, so today's will be part frozen by lunch and tomorrow's will defrost while I'm en route to an away day thing for work.

I wasn't using it for weight loss initially, it was for nutrition when I had bad loss and distortion of taste from COVID but I really need to lose weight and just struggling to get started.

I might risk the Mac and cheese with my next order! I have a scoop of original and a scoop of the plain one, but often don't feel like eating sweet stuff, so maybe one of the savoury ones might tip the balance for me.

The big selling point for me initially was how bland it was, but my taste is a bit better now, so might be time to risk it! It def works for me from a blood sugar perspective, I get no spike in energy at all, and keeps me full for ages, I've also got Zoe starting in July, so will be really interesting to see how the blood sugar monitor thing reacts to it. I've always been really sensitive to some carbs but the levels of protein in huel and the types of carbs really work for me I think.

Thatwouldbeme · 15/05/2023 10:51

I have lost 1lb, which I'm OK with as I have done no cycling or walking and had a couple of treats. How's everyone else doing?

TheresaBackinbud · 17/05/2023 14:10

I needed some change to out air in my car tyres so I bought the chocolate Huel and … um…. It tasted rank but good Lord, I feel better afterwards. I split the bottle into two meals and I do notice the difference in energy levels. Not sure I could do it every day though.

VincentVaguer · 17/05/2023 14:17

So do you have 1 x bottle for lunch or breakfast? Which is the nicest flavour?

par05 · 20/05/2023 09:18

Hi how's everyone doing! Haven't lost this week well I have as had put on a pound or 2 due to the bottle of wine I had last week! But have lost that again so maintained this week!
@VincentVaguer I'd have a bottle in my dinner break and it would keep me full till at least 6pm!
How's all you doing? It's been nearly a month for me and I have lost 8lbs so far and have now a stone to lose! I so feel I can keep this up as not quite restricting my self, will have cheat days etc and then am back on it! Whereas before once I had a cheat day it would stay a cheat day lol!

My Huel black is arriving this morning. I bought a normal RTD Huel on Friday because I hadn't had breakfast and had a long day at college and it was great. I also worry that I'm not eating properly so like the idea of a few weeks of all the vits mins and protein. Bought the black version because of the lower carbs and higher protein. I've gone for salted caramel and vanilla. If I hate it my gym bunny dd will drink it so won't be wasted! I'm hoping to lose a few pounds as well.

coolcahuna · 22/05/2023 08:37

I ordered Huel for the same aim and it gave me awful stomach pain, took me a few days to work it out. It has alot of fibre.

Yes I think I'm only going to have one scoop for a few days at first

Good plan. I bought the ones in bottles and it was a bit much. Know lots of people who have been fine though.

VincentVaguer · 22/05/2023 08:49

I didn't notice anything after the bottle.on Friday. I'll make sure to drink plenty of water, thanks for the heads up!

VincentVaguer · 22/05/2023 09:11

Just had 1 scoop of salted caramel Black, made with 250ml water. I blended it in the nutribullet and it was a nice texture. The sweetener aftertaste was a bit strong, but apart from that it was quite nice. Now to monitor my guts!

RuffledKestrel · 22/05/2023 10:36

I would say it's best to phase yourself into drinking/eating Huel. Like any change in diet it can have weird and wonderful (!) effects on your digestive system 😅

VincentVaguer · 22/05/2023 11:47

Well I'm still not hungry, which is a minor miracle!

par05 · 30/05/2023 20:17

Hi How's everyone doing! Finally lost a pound after being at a stalemate for 2 or so weeks! But haven't really being hueling! Am in a calorie deficit though! Getting back on huel this week now, so finger crossed can get under the 12st mark! My total is 9lbs since this thread started!

I have been on holiday, only put on half a pound, which is a minor miracle 😂. Back on the hule this week.

MissyBella · 30/05/2023 21:56

Hello Fellow Hueligans

I’m desperate to lose a stone starting to lose myself and after reading all your threads feel inspired. I have tried Huel hot and Savory before I especially enjoy the Cajun pasta and Korma. My plan is to eat Overnight oats for breakfast - Huel for lunch - chicken/egg salad for diner before 8pm. I’ve prepped the oats for tomorrow. I will weigh myself weekly on Mondays. Wish me luck x

par05 · 30/05/2023 23:15

Good luck @MissyBella you got this! And @Thatwouldbeme that's awesome especially since you been on holls! I tend to forget all about any form of diet 😆

Thatwouldbeme · 07/06/2023 14:28

I didn't diet on holiday, think it was the walking. This week I have lost. 2lb so I'm really pleased with that.

MissyBella · 07/06/2023 18:03

Thank you @par05 i am delighted with 1lb loss in my first week. I’m continuing with overnight oats for breakfast. Huel hot & savory for lunch & egg/chicken salad for dinner. I have had the odd cheeky mini chocolate bar 😉 I’m looking forward to weighing on Monday. How has everyone else getting on? X

oOmoonhaOo · 17/01/2024 20:18

Hi, please don’t flame me for dragging this thread back up! But I’d be interested to know how original posters are getting on… and whether they’re still keen huel drinkers a year later?

coolcahuna · 27/01/2024 06:59

I tried these in the premade form so was drinking a bottle a day. I couldn't handle the increased fibre at all and was in agony with stomach pain..other people I know have been totally fine.

Fluffywithteeth · 12/04/2024 19:35

Sorry I know an old thread but I’ve just started HUEL (100% during the week and eating normal food at the weekend) - be great to hear how you’ve all got on?

i tried exante before and it worked but ultimately found I couldn’t handle the whey protein. Hoping HUEL will be better for being g vegan x

I started 1 week ago also :) 2 a day huel and 1 solid meal, but now changed to 1 huel 2 solid as the high fibre didn't do me favours! Will hopefully go back to 2 a day in time. How are you finding it?

Fluffywithteeth · 13/04/2024 22:14

Oh great @HAF1119 ! Yes so during the week doing 100% HUEL - am finding it ok fibre wise (well a bit constipated which I’m hoping will sort itself out) - but in fact much more easy in my system than the vegan protein powder I was using. Today had hurl for 2 meals and then a salad for dinner. I’ll do the same tomorrow and then back to 100% on Monday. I haven’t dared weigh myself n- I really not sure I can handle knowing what I weigh now!! But will work up the courage in a week or so - I reckon I am about 69kg and want to get down to 63. What about you? X
