30 Days Shred

LeatherSkirt82 · 18/04/2023 08:11

Hey everyone, I just started 30 days shred yesterday and am about to do day 2 now but I can see how, with the increase in soreness, I may struggle to keep at it…so hoping to find a Shred Buddy here to keep each other accountable and motivated.

Anyone else did it? Maybe you can share your results to help us newbies keep the focus?

Hope you feel better soon…I’m sticking at a rest day on Fridays I think, it’s my busiest day and I’ll look forward to Fridays then!….I’m always glad I’ve done it once I’ve finished but starting to dread doing it 🤦‍♀️ …but I’ll carry on as it’s a waste of the days I’ve done otherwise, plus I’ve uploaded them onto my Strava and my friends can see I’m doing it so that makes me want to carry on too 👌……I was worried you had stopped doing it as you’d not posted yesterday but pleased you have.

Here is some inspiration for you :)

About 8yrs ago I started doing 30 day shred (age 30ish) I enjoyed it but it was very hard. I had tried couch to 5k several times before and never completed it.
At the end I went out and ran 5k on my own straight off, very slowly. It was hard but I couldn't believe 30 day shred had given me the fitness to be able to do that.

Things progressed from there and I discovered I love running. I have since run 4 marathon, 13 half marathons, a couple of 10ks and many park runs. My fastest half marathon was 1h46m. I have gained friends, fitness and confidence.

I really hope this is the start of a journey just as exciting. Good luck! Keep going!

LeatherSkirt82 · 24/04/2023 13:19

@Monkeytapper no, I'm pretty stubborn so I WILL see this through - just struggling a bit today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

@elliemac209 that's amazing! I can only wish for similar results!

@elliemac209 Amazing Ellie !…I’ve entered the ballot for London Marathon for next year..l.I’ve only ever done a half marathon so if I’m going to do a Marathon it’s going to be London 😊

Jellytotsburnmytongue · 24/04/2023 13:24

This is my go to work out as the nice weather starts. By day 6/7 I can usually really feel the results starting,. The quick results are the reason I usually use it. I've called Jillian some really strong words a few times 🤣

Anyfeckinusername · 24/04/2023 13:56

I love the motivation here and I don't even know what 30-day shred means! Obvs I'll google it now. I woke up today and decided I was going to lose a lb a week via exercise come hell or high water. I cycled 50km Saturday and swam lengths for 30 mins Sunday.

But that's not sustainable as I'm back in work and all that. Will Google now!

Monkeytapper · 24/04/2023 15:19

Day 7 done, thought I might have sacked it off today as I have a headache, but I did it

Monkeytapper · 25/04/2023 10:21

Day 8 done, went for a 5k run before and did it when I got back before I took my sports bra and trainers off, good to get it out of the way 👌

LeatherSkirt82 · 25/04/2023 10:48

We'll be back to same day progress as today is my rest day. As you know - I was determined to see it through without a rest day but this morning my Fitbit was literally screaming at me with Readiness Score 1 out of 100. I already pushed yesterday when RS was 15 and I did feel bad all day so I decided to listen to my body (and Fitbit) and make a break today. I am 100% sure I'll be back at it tomorrow because even though my body is resting, I miss the exercise (and feel oddly guilty for skipping it this morning).

@LeatherSkirt82 good idea about having a rest day, ..hopefully you will feel fresh for tomorrow

Monkeytapper · 26/04/2023 11:11

Day 9 done ✔️

LeatherSkirt82 · 26/04/2023 11:30

Day 9 done over here as well! Feeling a bit relieved I went back after rest day - maybe I'll fear rest days less from now on.

Day 10 done. Definite improvement with abs and strength - cardio still the hardest. I am starting to think it may be the order of the exercises that makes it so challenging for me to do circuit 1 cardio (jumping jacks/skipping combo) because I have no problem with supposedly more intense 3rd circuit which combines all four cardio exercises? Feeling a bit off (weak) and tired today but pressing on.

Well done,...I will be doing Day 9 when I get home this eve......I find the strength the most difficult sections, don't mind the cardio and Abs sections as much

Monkeytapper · 27/04/2023 17:29

Day 10 done 👌…nearly tabled myself into a rest day, but made myself do it…so rest day is tomorrow , back to it on Saturday…..will give level 2 a go I think, see how I manage.

Monkeytapper · 27/04/2023 17:29

*nearly talked

LeatherSkirt82 · 27/04/2023 17:52

Well done! Congrats on finishing the first round!

I don't think I'm ready for level 2 - I think I'll keep doing Level 1 until I can do all exercises (except pushups) in full and without a single 5sec break. Once I can pull that off 2 days in a row - I think I'll be ready for the next Level.

Yay 😀, well done to you too, we are a third of the way there 💪….I definitely would not have carried on if it wasn’t for this thread, so thank you 🙏

Handsnotwands · 27/04/2023 19:13

Ooo I did this years ago. I have the dvd but nothing to play it on anymore. Is it on YouTube?

Monkeytapper · 28/04/2023 06:06

@Handsnotwands ..I can’t find the full workout on YouTube so had fust down my DVD player.
I think you can download it on Amazon prime tv

LeatherSkirt82 · 28/04/2023 07:53

I bought it on YouTube - it was £7.

Inspired by this thread, I’ve downloaded 30 Day Shred, and just done Day 1. I’m not as nauseous as I think I was when I did this ten years ish ago.

Monkeytapper · 29/04/2023 11:49

Well done @notampon !…day 11 done…was going to attempt level 2 but just done parkrun and couldn’t be bothered

LeatherSkirt82 · 29/04/2023 19:52

Day 11 done as well - still level 1 but today I managed the first minute of my pain point (1 circuit cardio) without a break!!!!
