Nearly 14 stone!

Iusedtobedontcall · 21/02/2023 08:48

Hi all - looking for some moral support on my journey. I’ve put on three stone in the past two years following two pregnancies that both ended in loss. We are not trying again and my body and mind are in a terrible state.

I am 5’7 and want to get down to 11 stone to start with.

Anyone want to join me?

Just been to the gym for weights, cross trainer and a swim. My new tretinoin cream has arrived so going to start looking after my skin too. Still feeling awful and just going through the motions but at least I’m doing the right things.

I bet you feel better having gone to the gym? Great start to the day. How often do you think you will be able to get there/or for walks out etc? Have you got any plans foodwise, or just general cut down and being mindful of what youre eating?

Iusedtobedontcall · 21/02/2023 11:16

I am signed off work for the next three weeks so can use this time to go to the gym most days. Went in the sauna and the steam room too. Nothing specific in terms of food - I’m just going to try to eat healthily and hope it starts to come off. Having eyebrows shaped and gel nails later - anything that might help me feel a bit better.

Totally agree. Doing something for yourself is essential. Also resting when you need to.

LikeEmeraldeyes · 21/02/2023 11:24

I'm in. Maybe a small WhatsApp group. I have about 5 stone to lose

Feliciacat · 21/02/2023 11:26

I need to lose about 3.5 stone as I’m 14 stone too. Good luck with it, self love is key! I’m finding it so much easier to regulate the emotions that lead to binge eating now that I’m thinking about myself more kindly. I guess that’s my top tip.

Iusedtobedontcall · 21/02/2023 11:27

That would be good - I think accountability will help. Shall we have a set weigh in day?

OP posts:
Quitelikeit · 21/02/2023 11:27

Something to boost your loss - no eating after 6:30 pm and hiit training every day even for ten minutes

sorry about your miscarriages did they offer any investigations into why etc?

also are you taking any meds that could be influencing your weight?

Quitelikeit · 21/02/2023 11:28

When I could manage those things consistently I couldn’t believe how they affected the scales!

however I have not managed to be consistent as it was just how my days worked out

Iusedtobedontcall · 21/02/2023 11:30

I’m taking sertraline. The first was a MMC and the second (on Friday) was a TFMR after a devastating diagnosis in the pre natal screening. I’m 42 so suspect it’s my old eggs sadly and a bit of bad luck. But it’s all taken a toll on my body and at least I can start by sorting that out.

I'm in, I'm in a similar position! I'm 5'6 and at the end of January I was exactly 14 stone, didn't even realise how much had crept on. I'm aiming for 9.5 stone eventually to get back to the weight I'm happiest at, but right now I'm shooting for 11.

I hit 13.1 this morning, but would love to have a bit of moral support as I'm starting to flag this week as back in work so the temptation to snack and be sedentary is much higher.

Theresahippopotamusonourroofeatingcake · 21/02/2023 11:36

Sorry to hear about your losses Flowers

I have about 4st to lose and am up for some accountability.

I think the key for me is routine, so making sure that there is a non-negotiable slot where exercise happens. I know most of weight loss is food but if I exercise then I tend to eat better as I don't want to undo the effort I've put in.

I'd like to restart Couch to 5k but need to allocate when I'm going to do it.

Catspyjamas17 · 21/02/2023 11:36

Good luck, OP. I'd also like to maintain 11 stone and am the same height. I was 14 stone 9 in 2016 - I've never been near there again recently but have been between 11 and a half and 13 and a half in the last few years. Currently 13 but at least fit and healthy- cardio and weights in gym, yoga, and running, which I enjoy. The balance of food I have is pretty good but I just eat too much.

I've stopped "dieting" and am just trying to find my own way of eating/balance for gradual and sustainable weight loss which is not faddy or extreme.

GreenCorduroy · 21/02/2023 11:36

I'm in the same boat weight wise, just weight in the other day at 14st, I'm short so it's defo time to do something.
So sorry to hear about your loss x

Soproudoflionesses · 21/02/2023 11:37

Me too - just got back from an all inclusive holiday and am 13 stone 10lbs - heaviest weight ever.

Iusedtobedontcall · 21/02/2023 11:42

Sounds like there are quite a few of us in this (slightly large 😂) boat. Thanks all for the mora support - hoping we can support each other.
@Soproudoflionesses hopefully the weight will come off as quickly as it went on - an all inclusive holiday sounds amazing.
@Catspyjamas17 I think aiming to be healthy even if still overweight is a good medium term goal.

Going to walk to my beauty appointment (about 20 mins there and back but it all helps).

I’ll join please. I’m also 14 stone and shorter than you. I should be 10 stone max to be at the top of a healthy weight so 4 stone to lose but a couple of years ago I got down to 11 stone and felt good so that’s my initial aim and then I can always try and lose the last stone when I’m feeling better about myself.

im struggling with what to eat though. Breakfast I’m having granola, Greek yog and berries. Hopefully that’s ok? I never know what to have for lunch and dinner I just have whatever the kids want but need to be better. If anyone can help with lunch and dinner ideas I’d be so grateful!

Morechocmorechoc · 21/02/2023 11:44

I'll join you. 5ft so the weight looks even worse! 2 stone would be a good start for me.

Eatentoomanyroses · 21/02/2023 11:44

I’m 13 stone at 5ft 10, even a stone I’d be happy with

StampOnTheGround · 21/02/2023 11:49

I'm currently 13.9 and 5 foot 6, I'd like to be 10 stone! We've got this!

Catspyjamas17 · 21/02/2023 11:50

@Sunshineismyfriend

Do you like eggs? I cook 6 eggs at the beginning of the week hard boiled (about 8 minutes) and they keep in the fridge for a week.

I always have in cherry tomatoes, celery and cucumber. Don't always feel like a salad but I enjoy dipping crunchy veg in houmous or similar, one or two hard boiled eggs on the side, slice of rye bread or wholemeal toast. Also a bit more portable than salad sometimes to take to work.

petalsandstars · 21/02/2023 11:53

I’m a similar height and weight too- I weigh the same now as I did after my last baby- and that was 10 years ago so I need to get it shifted or it will never go and I don’t want to be this size for ever!

ApolloandDaphne · 21/02/2023 11:55

I am 5'6", age 60 and 14st . I started on Sunday trying to get my head round losing 3st. I would be more than happy at 11 st. It gets harder and harder as i get older.

BreviloquentBastard · 21/02/2023 12:00

My general day to day meals are actually really good, I was brought up very rurally on a farm so it's standard practice for me to have lots of home cooked meals and whole foods, so hopefully I don't have to change too much there.

Snacking is my downfall. I can demolish my entire days allowance of calories in ten minutes worth of pretzels and peanut butter.

Weigh in day for accountability would be good for me I think.

Sunshineismyfriend · 21/02/2023 12:04

Thanks. I’m not a massive fan of eggs but will give them a go. I’m just not sure that lunch would fill me up til dinner - think I’d be on the snacks by 4-5pm. 😬
