Nearly 14 stone!

Hi all - looking for some moral support on my journey. I’ve put on three stone in the past two years following two pregnancies that both ended in loss. We are not trying again and my body and mind are in a terrible state.

I am 5’7 and want to get down to 11 stone to start with.

Anyone want to join me?

Morning all, can I join? I'm 14 stone 1 this morning. I was 16.6 a year ago. My weight loss has stalled now. I've messed around for the past couple of months.

I've reset my nutracheck app to start afresh. I'm on 1400 calories a day to lose 2ib per week.

Here's my menu for today:

Breakfast.
Wholemeal toast with strawberry conserve. 260 calories.

Lunch.
Homemade roasted vegetable soup.
Yogurt.
Fibre one bar.
241 calories.

Dinner.
Not decided yet but I'll use around 800 calories.

Good luck to you all.

I will join you. I’m 13 stone and 5 foot 3. I think weight loss starts in the head and I’m not in a good place at all . I would welcome some tips and encouragement. I just can’t stick to calorie counting for any length of time and hate slimming clubs.

Well done on your weight loss so far, @TommyLeeRoyceslycra . That doesn't sound much to keep you going through the day but if it works for you keep it up.

My usual breakfast is Weetabix, semi skimmed milk, banana, sometimes a blob of greek yogurt and a few salad topper seeds. Lunch a slice of dark rye sourdough, toasted, with something like mashed avocado or eggs or salmon and some sticks of celery, cucumber and cherry tomatoes - usually two types of protein, three portions of veg and a carb/fibre element. Dinner tonight will be wholewheat pasta with lentil ragu, broccoli and a pear for dessert. About 1800 calories.

Hi all, weekly weigh in for me and I’m 13 st 5 and a 3/4 so just over 3 pounds on the week. I’m pleased but also a bit disappointed as I’ve been soooo good and I had hoped it might be a bigger number in week one!

Im using my fitness pal and it’s giving me 1200 cals a day for 2 lb a week loss. I like the routine of entering my food and when I’ve done it before it helps me stop snacking. I thought I’d be really hungry but have been totally fine so far - typical day is porridge and berries, soup for lunch or low cal sandwich if at work and normal but smaller portioned dinner

Hiya. I agree, I'm going to find this tough but I'm just after an initial boost to get me started then I'll probably increase my calories a little. It doesn't help that I'm 5 feet 4 and sat down all day, but pretty active outside of work.

Your menu sounds lovely, all the foods I enjoy.

TerrysAllGoldGlisters · 13/03/2023 12:49

Hi everyone, well done on the losses. I've lost 3lbs this week - I was really strict last week, not sure how sustainable it is - so I'm now 13st exactly.

In terms of ideas and tips, I find that as I get older, I need more protein and fewer carbs. Carbs make me feel really empty. So today I've had/am having:

Breakfast: 100g Greek yoghurt, 20g nut granola, a banana

Lunch: Tuna sandwich with a slice of emmental, side salad of rocket, cucumber, tomatoes, dash of olive oil

Dinner: chicken breast and mumsnet style 'large salad' Smile

Hello thread, I’ve been looking in since you started, on and off, but wasn’t keen on the WhatsApp idea.
I’m following The Last Diet. So far, so good but I would love to have some community to share the experience with.

Started at 13st 12, currently 13st 8. A new job is very sedentary and I think the lack of walking is bad for my emotional health, let alone physical!

Crikeyalmighty · 16/03/2023 15:32

I had to visit GP in October due to neurological crap that just came on. I hadn't weighed myself for 4 years (I'm embarrased to admit this) I'm only 5ft 4 and was 16stone 5 . Thing is it's kind of spread all over and I have big boobs so didn't actually look that bad in the right clothes. I started dieting in late November and a lot more walking! Im down to 14stone 13 but it's slow as im on beta blockers which affect metabolism. I honestly thought I was about 13 stone- couldn't believe it!! Good luck OP and im so sorry about your losses

Hellenabe · 19/03/2023 06:25

Hi, I'm 15 stone 7. Just a few months ago I was about 14 and a half, ideally should be 13. The shock was recently getting unwell and feeling breathless. The gp said I needed to get fitter and I couldn't believe the gall! Now I think she was being subtle/kind and I'd just fallen into a miserable routine. We can do this!

Hellenabe · 19/03/2023 06:27

@Crikeyalmighty yes! I'm busty too so it didn't look bad, but now I think I was deluded and im planning on weighing myself daily. I have a friend whose parent died with complications linked to diabetes etc, she wasn't even that big. I need a lifestyle change

Feliciacat · 19/03/2023 07:10

Hi @Hellenabe. It’s great that you’ve decided to make a change! I’m sure you carry the weight well and that you look great but 15 stone 7 is highly likely to cause complications unless one is about 6 foot 5! I say this as a 14 stoner so I’m not far off and I certainly get breathless from it. What do you think your biggest lifestyle issue is? Mine was drinking so I’ve given that up. One change at a time is key I find. Good luck!

Secretboringsister · 19/03/2023 07:12

I’m in too!

Secretboringsister · 19/03/2023 07:15

Meant to say 11.7 aiming for 9.7. I’d be in a WhatsApp group. Thanks

Hellenabe · 19/03/2023 07:29

@Feliciacat I'd say my relationship breakdown made me lose interest in myself/looks so I just focussed on the children and work (completely sedentary). I hardly looked in the mirror.

I don't drink or smoke. I actually dont eat terribly ie no takeout, all home cooked but I think I have treated myself to nice bread rolls from the coop each morning plus bigger portions at night/eating leftovers. I guess I feel sorry for myself so allow myself a treat (which then shows on the scales). I havent been well so drinking a ton of tea. Even my walk is a lumbering 40min rather than a power walk!

Hellenabe · 19/03/2023 07:46

I'm planning on removing the bread options, no tea, loads of water, and potentially another 40min walk to school if my work allows it.

I may not look it but I've certainly let myself go and I'm disappointed in myself.

Feliciacat · 19/03/2023 07:49

That all sounds good. I’m sorry you lost interest in yourself for a while. I guess your new treat is self care through nourishment.

Crikeyalmighty · 19/03/2023 16:02

@Hellenabe Yep. My pre diabetes diagnosis and high cholesterol did it for me- like you I eat quite well- and I don't eat sweet stuff at all , I just think I ate far too big portions in an evening- I went through a few personal issues and we moved abroad during the first lockdown- I think food and wine became far too much a focal point and it crept up on me.
