Nearly 14 stone!

Iusedtobedontcall · 21/02/2023 08:48

Hi all - looking for some moral support on my journey. I’ve put on three stone in the past two years following two pregnancies that both ended in loss. We are not trying again and my body and mind are in a terrible state.

I am 5’7 and want to get down to 11 stone to start with.

Anyone want to join me?

Same amount to lose here. Can I join you please?

My extra weight has been with me a while though. I really want it gone!

Iusedtobedontcall · 24/02/2023 07:19

Welcome @SunnyDaysAheadGang.
I am at a spa this weekend so worried that I might enjoy too much lovely food and drink this weekend, but I’ll try and do lots of swimming to make up for it.

Can I join too? I'm 5' 7", 13st 5 and would like to get down to 10st 7.

I won't join the WhatsApp group because like @Sunshineismyfriend I worry that I might end up knowing people here IRL 🤪. I'll check in every Monday though - I really need some form of accountability.

OutofControl3 · 24/02/2023 20:33

I stood on scales today and weigh 15 stone, but I'm going to get some batteries in mine at home to see if there the same as I want to go off the same ones each time. I have bought some fruit and healthy snacks as I have a new baby to look after I need a easy but right option 😅

Feliciacat · 25/02/2023 14:32

I’ve found giving up alcohol to be really great! I’ve lost a couple of pounds already and feel much more in control. Sleeping better too and I think my blood sugar is more stable (so less snacking). I’m more up for a thread on here than WhatsApp; WhatsApp stresses me out as it’s inescapable!

Sunshineismyfriend · 26/02/2023 17:14

I neee lunch inspiration. About to order the food shop but I don’t know what to order for lunches.

Catspyjamas17 · 26/02/2023 19:40

Stuff to take to work, have at home, for the kids?

Feliciacat · 26/02/2023 19:59

Sorry for late reply @Sunshineismyfriend. The reason I’m fat is cos I eat pound bakery for lunch everyday haha. In my past, fitter days, I’ve batch cooked rice, fish and salad. Cold sweet potatoes with roast veg is good too. Or hard boiled egg salad. That’s what I’d suggest for work lunches. Definitely batch cook so it’s not overwhelming each day (cook once, eat all week).

Or if you’re at home, maybe toasted cheese wraps and a side salad or omelette with beans?

Keep it high protein with lots of veggies. No frying as a general rule. Smoothies are great too as long as you don’t add sugar or syrup. Keep bags of frozen fruit and veg in the freezer so you’ve always got a healthy and quick option. Long life milk too for low sugar cereal or healthy smoothies.

Catspyjamas17 · 27/02/2023 10:53

Perhaps that's where I'm going wrong but I definitely fry things! Usually with a bit of spray oil or a small amount of vegetable/olive oil. I'm talking about stir fried, curries, pasta sauce, rather than deep frying though. I don't think oils and fats are the enemy, in moderation anyway.

I lost 1 lb, woo, 12st 13lbs today. If I carry on losing weight really slowly I'll be pleased. I've been dieting for so long and have read so much about nutrition that I feel like I know what to eat to be healthy and am trying to sort of un-diet myself and rather than tracking food am just trying to make good choices and eat slowly and mindfully, have smaller portions, just focus on overall lifestyle, doing plenty of exercise, and eating what I need to fuel a fit(ter) body. And if I have the odd bit of chocolate and biscuits, so be it.

Alcohol consumption was good this week - I had two G&Ts (and I do measure it 😅) and two bottles of lager - on three different evenings. About 7 units. Sadly wine seems to be the enemy of weight loss, much as I love it.

Iusedtobedontcall · 27/02/2023 12:20

Hi all - if anyone fancies the WhatsApp group let me know as I haven’t had enough takers so far.

I weighed in at 13 stone 8lbs this morning which is a brilliant loss so feeling motivated.

Well done at getting under the 13 stone mark @Catspyjamas17 !

I have given myself six weeks to lose as much as possible before we TTC again.

Sunshineismyfriend · 27/02/2023 12:29

I’ve stayed the same. Not surprised as although I’ve upped the exercise I haven’t really changed my food so need to focus on that this week. Well done to all who have lost.

TerrysAllGoldGlisters · 27/02/2023 13:11

Well done to all the losers! Just checking in to say that I've lost 3lbs, taking me to 13st 2. It might just be water weight but it's enough of a boost to keep me going.

GreenCorduroy · 27/02/2023 14:24

Hey all, well done on your great progress. I'm down 2lb since last week, now 13 11. I haven't made many changes yet other than cut out chocolate completely. Going to go back to my low carb ways this week.
I'm not big into Whatsapp groups, I'm in too may kid school/sports groups as it is so prefer to stay on this.

Catspyjamas17 · 27/02/2023 15:22

Well done all. @Sunshineismyfriend don't be disheartened, stick with the exercise as it's important in the long term IMO - I haven't had a loss in a while or it's been up and down even when I've really watched my calories because I've increased my exercise, from doing two yoga classes a week and walking the dog to keeping doing that but also adding on three gym sessions. Partly it's muscle gain but it's also muscle tears (which then repair and get stronger) and then resulting water retention.

TerrysAllGoldGlisters · 27/02/2023 17:11

It can be helpful to take your measurements each week as well as step on the scales - even if you don't see any weight loss you quite often see eg your waist measuring smaller which helps to remind you that it's all going in the right direction even if you haven't seen a downward movement on the scales.

TerrysAllGoldGlisters · 06/03/2023 12:17

How did everyone do this week? Despite my best efforts I gained a pound 😬. I've lost half an inch from both my chest and waist though, so just focussing on that to stop me falling off the wagon.

Iusedtobedontcall · 07/03/2023 11:15

Hi - that sounds like a good result @TerrysAllGoldGlisters - weight can fluctuate so the measurements give a better picture.
I have lost a pound - not much, but better than nothing!

Anyone else for the WhatsApp group? I have three of us so far.

StampOnTheGround · 08/03/2023 11:16

Why in a chair?
I have lost a pound. Better than nothing and I hear the slower you lose the easier to keep it off.

petalsandstars · 09/03/2023 09:55

My grandad just used to sit in a chair the whole day as he couldn’t move about very much due to weight related issues. My dad is diabetic and has the same possibility in his future - I just have that image. I’d rather be staying fit when I get to his age but I know that it’s the food choices rather than the exercise that’s my problem.

Catspyjamas17 · 13/03/2023 08:30

2lbs off in 3 weeks (12st 12lbs now) , so coming down slowly which is fine by me.
