Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

Hey!

Today's meal check-in:
Lunch - cup-a-soup. Bowl of Greek yoghurt and pomegranate/raspberries
Dinner - bubble and squeak, sausages and veggies
Had a bit of a nibble on DD's lunch at the soft play earlier - quarter of a jam sandwich and a few crisps. Hence not having the extras with my lunch today.

Not sure how to calorie count it today as the bubble is made up from our leftover roast, so can't in any way accurately guess what's in there?!

Cloudberries123 · 07/02/2023 14:09

@SanFranBear Overnight oats is the sort of thing I SHOULD love as it's got so many ingredients I enjoy, plus it's a nice creamy stodgy thing - but I just have never liked it! Not bought or homemade. Occasionally I'll try it again but am always disappointed! Let us know what you think of it!

AutisticLegoLover I too don't really understand your FitBit tiles but I've been thinking about getting one. My 'whatever, I'm sure it's fine' days are over (eg finding out the real calories in things! 😱) and I know that some days I don't move enough, despite being really active on working days. And I enjoy challenges that are fun like games 😊 What would you recommend as a starting one?

Doing OK-ish here today, really enjoying my walk to and from work at the moment as it's feeling easier and I'm trying to see how fast I can do it.

Foodwise I did buy a packet of cookies with my meal deal as I was shopping hungry and thirsty. I've eaten two but might bin the others (food waste I know, but I'm trying to learn that I'm not a bin either).

Breakfast - Water, 3 small fried eggs, 1 small brioche bun, coffee

Work snacks - apple, banana, water

Lunch - meal deal of sushi, yoghurt, coffee, 2 cookies

Snack - tea, water

Dinner - will have to be an easy one tonight as I'm solo parenting, maybe chicken, veg and rice

AutisticLegoLover · 07/02/2023 14:24

The tiles are either the number of steps, miles, or active minutes you need to complete in a designated pattern. It's a crazy amount I need to do to flip the tiles. I get very competitive with it but this week and last I've viewed it as a challenge for myself rather than beating others. My Fitbit needs replacing because the display no longer works and they can't or won't fix it. They have given me a voucher for 30% off a new one but I don't kniw wh

AutisticLegoLover · 07/02/2023 14:24

Which one to get.

Ninjachicken · 07/02/2023 20:49

Evening everyone. Just checking in. Today has been pretty good. No snacking, good dog walk and an exercise video.
lunch: two small lamb chops and last of my squash and lentil daal
dinner: fish and peas, yoghurt, berries, oats

i have downloaded happy scale app. Really hoping to see 65 on the scale tomorrow!

SanFranBear · 07/02/2023 20:50

Well, Cloudberries - I'm not sold on overnight oats to be honest. Like you, seemed like all nice things that I should like but the last of it was a bit of an effort.
A friend at work suggested adding frozen cherries as they obviously defrost but don't make it really runny as the juice is contained. I adore cherries so will get some on my next shop and see whether that helps. But I might stick with my weetabix, hot milk and cinnamon sugar as that's my favourite!

Working at a different office tomorrow with both lunch and dinner out (and most definitely wine!) so might be a bit tricky to manage too healthy of a day... there's a pool at the hotel though so might try and get some laps in before I head out (probably not though 😆)

Glad I wasn't the only one a little lost with the tiles, Cloud & RealHousewife, although could see some big numbers on there so we'll done, AutisticLegoLover on hitting them all! I used to have a fitbit but it fell off and I've never replaced it.. I've got a few points through a work reward scheme so might look into one on there!

Really want some chocolate so am going to see if a nice, hot peppermint tea takes the edge off.. if not, will head to bed I think as got a long drive first thing!

buzzofthebumblebee · 07/02/2023 20:50

Can't help you on fitbit I'm afraid - I hate tech stuff as I'm totally inept.

Food ok today:
B - 2 poached eggs and spinach on slice rye bread
L - chicken soup
D - prawn, rocket wholewheat spaghetti - heavy on rocket, garlic, chilli & lemon juice

Food OK yesterday too - but WOW tomorrow won't go in my favour given I am v constipated - sorry TMI.

Fingers crossed for everyone tomorrow!

AutisticLegoLover · 07/02/2023 20:57

Sorry everyone about the Fitbit tiles! I'm terrible for thinking other people must know what I'm on about

@Ninjachicken I downloaded the happy scale app too and it's quite good from the few days I've been on it. It's a nice visual to have and helps with motivation.

You are all so good with your healthy meals. I should go better.

B: Porridge, chia, banana, syrup
L: yogurt and berries, clementine and crisps
D: tomato and mozzarella pasta

Snacks: snackajacks, 1 after 8 mint, 2 mega chocolate buttons

Lots of water, less tea today. Tomorrow will be much the same.

Rewis · 07/02/2023 20:59

@AutisticLegoLover i have a fitbit but ot doesn't do tiles. But it has green sparkles once I've had an achievement!

Weatherwax13 · 07/02/2023 21:32

V happy. Barely any loss last week but this week 1.17kg off.
Thanks for your encouragement last week @TheRealHousewife
SW 88.8kg
TW 80.95
GW 76kg
I weigh daily too and will get the app you suggested:)
I'm doing 16:8 most days, low carb, two meals and no sugar still (which is an achievement!)
Booked tickets to some daft movie on the 18th DH wants to see. Promised myself a choc ice if the number on the scales is 80kg or under.

AutisticLegoLover · 07/02/2023 21:47

@Weatherwax13 that's amazing! I love a whoosh!

I'm not expecting a loss tomorrow. Hoping but not expecting. I can't believe Wednesday has gone around so fast again. The weeks just fly by.

SingaporeSlinky · 07/02/2023 22:43

I cant believe Wednesday is rolling around already either! Despite my upped exercise and fairly good diet, I’m maintaining, which is frustrating. This time last year I was consistently losing 1-2lbs per week.
Did a 45 min gym class this morning and booked on another for tomorrow. Will try and do extra treadmill work afterwards. Hoping for a whoosh on the scales next week, because I do feel like I’m losing, I’m mostly IF and 2 meals a day. Some chocolate has crept in some days, but nothing too excessive. I do think I need to drink more water.

Good luck for tomorrow’s weigh ins, to those that do.

AutisticLegoLover · 08/02/2023 06:50

Morning all. I'm up early today to enjoy a cup of tea by myself before dc wake up.

WOW: 60.6kg!!

Looking back my highest weight was 68kg last July and has been on a downward trend since. I think I joined this thread in December and lost some for Christmas and put a few pounds back on. From July to now I've lost over a stone and I'm very happy with that.

Hope you all have a good result today and keep going with your new habits.

Have a great day!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 08/02/2023 07:01

@Cloudberries123 @SanFranBear I feel the same about overnight oats, I love oats, cocoa, fruit, etc all the things you put in them but then I eat them and am always disappointed.
@AutisticLegoLover I have a garmin not a fitbit but I like the look of those tiles! my garmin gives me weekly goals for steps, active minutes etc. but doesn't set any challenges like that. Well done on the loss!
WOW is 65.4kg which is down 0.9kg since last week so I am very happy. Slowly inching closer to hitting my first goal which was 65kg flat. The ultimate goal is 63Kg and then I will decide if I want to maintain or continue loosing.

Ninjachicken · 08/02/2023 07:34

I actually do like overnight oats. I always add chia seeds.
65,6kgs this morning!!! Finally seeing 65 🤩
0,6kgs lost since last week so happy enough with that.
SW: 68 kgs
GW: 56 kgs
i have inputted everything into happy scale, I agree, it’s great. I really like the mini goals
i was nearly down to 56 kgs last summer so I will keep at it and hope for the same this summer.
light day today as I am out tonight
fingers crossed for everyone today they get the results they are after

Cloudberries123 · 08/02/2023 07:52

Such lovely positive changes here this morning. Happy to report I'm back down into the 95 bracket with a 600g loss this week. I immediately celebrated with the last 2 cookies - old dustbins die hard!

Very happy though as it confirms my 'eat as normal but don't snack' approach. I feel this is so much more sustainable than any other restriction, at least until my food issues are more sorted out.

SW: 100.4kg
CW: 95.4kg
Mini goal: get under 95 in Feb

I've also decided that my medium-term goal is 80kg. This is still in the 'overweight' category for me, but it's what I weighed in my late teens and looking back at photos I look healthy and slim and would be happy to get there again. And it's much more realistic than aiming at 65kg or whatever the technically ideal weight for me is. With 80, I only have 15kg to go. I've already lost 5kg once so just have to do that 3 more times.

Feel like I'm starting to figure out what works for me.

Lovely progress AutisticLegoLover you must be chuffed

Ninja well done on seeing 65s again! Now off you go and eat your overnight oats alone 😛

Allthegoodnames amazing, almost a kilo down!

Singapore can't believe you've been to the gym already 🥱

Weatherwax 1.7kg! Amazing!

buzz all your food yesterday sounded so delicious, I hope it 'moves' for you so that you have a motivating WoW!

SanFran yeah that's pretty much my reaction to overnight oats too! Hope you enjoy the change of scenery for your work days!

Bumblebeehum · 08/02/2023 08:04

Morning! I thought I’d have missed most of the check-Ins this morning, look forward to reading all the successes!

Only 1lb for me this week, which I’m blaming mainly on the day of HUNGER that hit yesterday, I literally couldn’t stop eating but kept it to healthy food on the whole and then had a big roast dinner.

Hoping that is all satisfied now and can get on with normal eating. The plan today is:

B - bran cereal and a couple of dates
L - beef chilli soup, rice and a slice of bread, apple + a graze treat of some kind (love their little flapjack thingies)
D - chicken fried rice (home made healthy!) + berries and yogurt

buzzofthebumblebee · 08/02/2023 08:56

WOW - literally - for all your losses so far today. It's not easy, so big achievements, no matter how small.

Sounds like a sensible plan of action @Cloudberries123 . Good to have realistic personal goals. Similarly I know I could be under 10 stone (achieved once in my adult life) but even to be 11 stone, let alone under will be a huge achievement.

Unbelievably given state of digestion, I've seen a 1lb loss.

SW 11 13
CW 11 6
GW1 11 2
GW2 10 10

Very bad headache today. Caused by what I don't know, but drinking gallons and will try and take it easy.

Keep up good work everyone !

TheRealHousewife · 08/02/2023 09:05

Good Morning Everyone ❤️

Todays WOW = 9st 7lb which is a 1lb down from last week.
I’m pleased with that loss which doesn’t sound a lot but it is for me 👍

@ImALittlePea I wouldn’t worry too much for one meal of bubble & squeak. You could minus the items that are not included in your original meal and add on any extras such as any oil/butter if used.

@AutisticLegoLover Thank you for explaining👍That’s a fabulous result! Well done! It’s all that bouncing and making healthy choices. Keep going 😬

@Ninjachicken Well done on your loss! 👍👏

@buzzofthebumblebee water, black coffee and fibre is what you need 😬

@Weatherwax13 Thats a great loss! Well done 👍 And you’re welcome but it’s you who is doing all the work, which is obviously working!

@SingaporeSlinky its frustrating when we maintain. If you keep doing what you’re doing it will happen!

@Allthegoodnamestakken Thats another excellent loss! You’ll soon be at your first goal! Well done 👍👏

@Cloudberries123 You are doing fantastic. 👍👏 Changing old habits is the hardest part. The positive is you have recognised what they are and how they could sabotage your healthy eating habits. You WILL get there if you keep going!

@Bumblebeehum Well done on your loss, 1lb isn’t insignificant 👍👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made minestrone soup.
Meal 2 - Spag bol with buttered cabbage.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise
Session 1 - Walking video
Session 2 - Hand weights

First week down with 3 more to go. Reflect on your progress to date and imagine the results you could get if you keep doing what you’ve been doing 👍👏

Enjoy your day and we’ll done everyone ❤️

Morning all, so many successes this week it’s hard to name check everyone! That, plus I’m on the treadmill and can’t concentrate on tagging too much without falling off 😆

@Cloudberries123 i was posting late last night so I had been to the gym yesterday morning, I’m not able to get up before 7am 🙂

45 min class done this morning (9am) and doing a little uphill walk on the treadmill now and catching up on posts.

As suspected, no loss for me so will have to up the ante this week. Can’t believe a few Kit Kats here and there has scuppered me, considering I’ve been to the gym 4 days a week, plus long walks at least once a week, and normal walks to and from school and gym. Very frustrating. Will cut out the sugary coffees and rare snacks but it will be hard as I’ll end up on 1000 cals a day. Not fair 😓

AutisticLegoLover · 08/02/2023 11:06

This is such a lovely thread 🥰

My period is definitely on its way because my boobs hurt and I'm hungrier. I'm not sure what to have for dinner or lunch for that matter. Dc are having sausage, mash and Yorkshire puddings with large amounts of gravy. Yuck. I tried Hovis crumpets today and ate one but threw away the second as they aren't n

AutisticLegoLover · 08/02/2023 11:06

Nice. Warburtons only now.

ImALittlePea · 08/02/2023 11:15

Morning all!

So many great results today! Well done WOWers!

Very busy over here today so just a quick one from me:
Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies, dairylea triangle, rosemary crispbreads
Dinner - jacket potato, beans, cheese, salad. Got to eat early and solo today as working tonight (trial for new part time job, eep).

ImALittlePea · 08/02/2023 11:19

Hmm - according to MFP that menu is under 800 calories (I've not put salad on as I've realised I've run out if dressing and I just can't do undressed salad 😆). Will be on my feet all evening on this trial shift so that doesn't feel like a sensible amount of calories does it? Any suggestions of what to add or change to get a few more (sensible) calories in?

SingaporeSlinky · 08/02/2023 11:22

@ImALittlePea maybe some more protein - could you add a few slices of ham if you have it? Good luck for the trial!
