Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

Thinking of you @Cloudberries123 that sounds tough and you must be sleep deprived too. Healthy food will make you feel better but be kind to yourself and don’t beat yourself up if you do have a blip. Good luck with your day at work, hope it goes well

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2023 08:17

Good Morning All

Fabulous Friday Weigh In = down .3lbs. Not a lot by any stretch.

@Allthegoodnamestakken Welldone you and your DH for making what must have been a tough decision. You are right, health comes first ❤️ Don’t sweat the gain, it’s the meal/wine. A couple of days eating clean and lean with plenty of water will whoosh it away 👍

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Great result! Well done 👏

Pleased for your WOF result @ImALittlePea 👍It all adds up! Half-term has come around quickly 😮

@ginsparkles Well done on getting back on it and in the right head space. 3lbs is fabulous! Well done! 👍👏You weigh as often or as little as you like, we’ll all still celebrate any progress you make 😊

@AutisticLegoLover You're so close … main line berries, roughage and water 😬

@Ninjachicken I can weigh 3 times consecutively on my electronic scale and get 3 different results. I usually go with the middle one 👍

Sending a hug and a cuppa @Cloudberries123 Arguments always leave me unsettled. It’s not a nice feeling at all. Well done on recognising that you’re at risk of sabotaging your efforts by self soothing with food! You could try calling out your self saboteur and tell yourself you’ll regret it later/tomorrow and your not going to give in to the inner snack dragon 🐉 Sending positive vibes ❤️

Sorry about your early morning argument @Cloudberries123 I always find getting outside helps in those situations, a short run or a stomp around the block with an uplifting playlist. Makes me feel loads better.

AutisticLegoLover · 10/02/2023 09:08

@Cloudberries123 I echo a good loud playlist you can sing along to and go for a walk.

@TheRealHousewife that's a. Amazing loss, well done!

SanFranBear · 10/02/2023 09:36

Morning all and a nice little weigh day for me today, being a whole kg done!

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 67.4kg
February GW: 67kg

So monthly goal within touching distance - I'll stick with it rather than amend as I'm going up and down a lot at the mo so might still take a couple of weeks to get there. It's also been months since I've hit one of my mini goals so might be nice yo get that under my belt this month!

Your soup prep is lush, RealHousewife - so much colour in one picture... and beautifully chopped too 😆

I'm sorry you've had a rubbish start to the day, Cloud - even when things get sorted out, arguments can impact your whole day so be kind to yourself. Sounds like sleep deprivation is also not helping... big hugs!

Ninja - I weigh in the exact same spot every week and in the same clothes (birthday suit 😉) which might be worth doing if you can. My scales are a little old as well so I step off and on about 3 or 4 times until I get the same weight 2 or 3 times and go with that one.

Great work, Gin - 3lbs is awesome! And massive well done on the measurements, Allthegoodnames - they're really impressive! And as you say, LittlePea - a loss is a loss.. well done!

I need to do my weekly shop later and need to add some healthy meals to the list as half term, well holidays in general, are always a bit tricky. If I can manage at least a decent dinner or 3, then I'll take that as a win and hopefully keep my loss off.

Happy Friday everyone - hope you've all got nice plans for the weekend? DC and I are at an 'All you can eat' buffet tomorrow - a favourite of ours but not particularly healthy (although apparently the sushi bar has improved leaps and bounds of late so may just inhale that!!)

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2023 10:09

@AutisticLegoLover Thank you but I think you've misread my loss ... I've lost .3lbs not 3lbs 😅

@SanFranBear You're burning through February 🔥Great result! Well done 👍👏

AutisticLegoLover · 10/02/2023 10:15

Oh. Well it's still a loss! 😁

No raspberries in my delivery, none in Asda, none in the co-op. Frozen would be mushy 🤢

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2023 11:59

@AutisticLegoLover 😬 … Re Raspberries:- I’ve a glut. OH fetched some from the shop yesterday and some were delivered today in my weekly food delivery. If I live nearer you could have them.

OP posts:
AutisticLegoLover · 10/02/2023 12:11

Aww that's very kind of you. Waitrose guy said Aldi didn't have any either. I'll try the other co-op later. The greengrocer might have some but they are extortionate and mushy usually. I've made do with strawberries but they aren't as good in the fibre front.

I've a day off today and should be doing some house stuff but I can't be bothered at all. I'm waiting for a call from Ds's school about her continued truancy, defiance, absence and missing exams. She lives with her dad because he has no rules and treats her like a mate rather than a child. The social worker might reply to me at some point too. Time to myself is rare and I don't want to be doing house stuff.

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2023 12:32

@AutisticLegoLover That sounds tough about you dss. Enjoy the peace and tranquility whilst you can … the chores can wait!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 10/02/2023 12:58

Thankyou all, Unfortunately I have a 3 month notice period that there will be no getting out of so I will still be doing my job until May but at least the end will be in sight.
Hope you find your raspberries @AutisticLegoLover
@SanFranBear you are so close to your February goal already well done!

buzzofthebumblebee · 10/02/2023 13:25

quick pop by to say hello - loving all the losses, updates, and news. No time to namecheck you all - but think you are ALL fabulous. Heartfelt wishes where needed.

@AutisticLegoLover raspberries freeze well for cooking/baking vs letting them go bad (which can happen quickly)
almost as quickly as this thread moves along!!!
not as quickly as my exercise routine should be...
all is well over here, thanks to my apple watch i'm getting all the fitness part done.
food...should balance out okay. some great meal choices some not so great portion sizes on snack type foods (nuts).
@TheRealHousewife lovely looking minestrone!!

Fara22 · 10/02/2023 17:28

I missed WOW, but have enjoyed catching up with the thread this afternoon and seeing lots of lovely looking food!

My victory today was daring to try on a pair of jeans that have been at the back of the wardrobe for a while. Can't remember when they last went over my hips (arse) or did up (they're high waisted with two buttons). And today they pulled up and did up - zip and both buttons! Even if the scales aren't moving quickly, change is happening!

What other non-scale victories has everyone had recently?

AutisticLegoLover · 10/02/2023 17:31

I'll use them for baking but not for my yogurt lunch. I like them fresh for that.

Jeans victory is a big victory!

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2023 17:49

@greenspaces4peace Thank you. My OH says it was delicious 😋 I do love a hearty soup. Well done on getting your exercise in. I’m missing some days as I’m still not on top of household duties. When I was fully fit and able bodied I could hoover dust clean top to bottom a 4 bedroom house in a day. That included wet washing and polishing oak floors. It would take me a fortnight now 😬.

Fabulous NSV @Fara22 👍👏 Well done!

@AutisticLegoLover Do you like smoothies? Yoghurt, milk, frozen berries, ice … wizzed up. On the occasion I have them I include collagen powder too.

Inspired by @TheRealHousewife I had halloumi stir fry for dinner! Delicious 🙂

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2023 20:36

@SingaporeSlinky Halloumi stir fry is one of my favourites 👍Pleased to read you enjoyed it!

OP posts:
SingaporeSlinky · 10/02/2023 20:46

I did. I googled a few recipes and ended up frying it in sesame oil, garlic, ginger and Chinese 5 spice. Set aside while I cooked loads of julienne veg and boiled some brown rice noodles, and tossed all together at the end with soy sauce and lime juice.
