Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

Loving the idea of halloumi stir fry @therealhousewife.

My plan for the day:

B - berries, chia, Greek yoghurt
L - fast 800 shake
D - prawn stir fry with loads of veggies and a bit of cheese (don't judge me I love cheese with soy sauce)
S - dark chocolate square
Drinks - loads of water. 4 cups of tea

Calories 848

I plan on doing a 25 minute walk and 10 minutes of yoga and squats

Allthegoodnamestakken · 09/02/2023 11:04

Hello All
Not a great day here today but I am trying really hard not to go and buy a load of Junk. So far I have succeeded but only because I haven't actually managed to bring myself to eat anything at all.
Going to try and force myself to make a healthyish lunch and take the dogs for a little walk in the hope that puts my head back on straight.
Hope you are all doing well, congrats to all the loosers yesterday

ImALittlePea · 09/02/2023 12:54

Afternoon all!

Shift went well, will be picking up a couple a week I think, still tbc though as I'm not going to compromise on my family time for this kind of work, so they either let me work when I say I can, or I don't end up working there 🤷‍♀️ we don't 'need' me to do it so not in a bad position I guess. They offered me a pizza at the end of the shift and it took every ounce of willpower I had to say no.. especially as their pizzas are amazing! But I managed it, so chuffed with myself. I wonder if that willpower will prevail if I do carry on there though 👀

Had a very busy morning as well, just stopped to have lunch (my normal). Having chilli and rice for dinner. Hopefully no snacking and lots of water! Going to put my feet up for the rest of DD's nap now, then up to it with dinner prep and school run.

TheRealHousewife · 09/02/2023 13:37

Hello Everyone

@afrikat Halloumi stir fry is one of my favourites! However, I’ve had a menu change today! Clearing the fridge out ready for tomorrows food delivery I unearthed an avocado and some veg that needed using up. Posted a pic of lunch.

@Allthegoodnamestakken I hope you manage to eat something nutritious before the uncontrollable munchies hit … Good luck 🤞

@ImALittlePea I must have missed your post about your new job. Pleased to read your shift went well 👍

Menu Change
Meal 1 - Small gf bap, Benecol spread and avocado, lemon juice, crushed garlic, s&p, savoury seeds and pecan nuts = 438

Meal 2 - Mini chicken fillets, carrots, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, gravy. Mixed berries & Greek yoghurt.

@TheRealHousewife please would you share your halloumi stir fry recipe? I love halloumi especially with beetroot.
I've eaten too many snackajacks this week and they are making me feel bloated so no more now. Thursday is a bad day for good habits due to our picnic tea. Ds has a sausage roll, well, 2, but I might wait until we get home and have porridge to make up for the snackajacks. I blame pmt for the salt and carb cravings this week. There's no raspberries locally so I am missing them in my yogurt. Asda clementines, the ones in the box, are lovely right now. Very sweet and juicy yet tart too. Perfect.

TheRealHousewife · 09/02/2023 17:28

Hi @AutisticLegoLover I don’t use an official recipe, it’s just something I made up. I fry cubed Halloumi in chilli oil until brown and crispy. Add veg of choice. I add chopped red pepper, kale, chopped red onion, chopped carrot, some butter beans. If it’s a little dry or sticking, rather than more oil or butter add the tiniest splash of water to the pan. I’ve posted photos of previous couple of variations.

Thank you. I might try it next week.

SanFranBear · 09/02/2023 17:43

Goodness, this thread moves fast!

Very well done, you lovely bunch of WoWers - whatever your result, I'm proud of you all and echo AutisticLegoLover's sweet post of yesterday.

I actually had a good day yesterday despite lunch and dinner out (well, lunch was out - dinner was room service in the end) but today has been a bit hit & miss. Started with a Sausage & Egg McMuffin which I haven't had for months and was soooo good! Decent lunch of eggs but have nibbled rubbish all afternoon and have no food in for dinner so will see what the local Co-op has and try to be sensible. A Halloumi stir fry sounds lie just the ticket, RealHousewife, but my DC would not be on board sadly!

Great news on your shift, LittlePea and well done for staying firm on what you can offer - no point in burning yourself out and sacrificing family time if it's not essential!

Hats off to you for doing the Fast800, Afrikat - that takes a will power I just don't have!

Hope those who are or have been under the weather are feeling a lot better!

I'm hopeful I might see a change on the scale tomorrow but, at the same time, I've not been very mindful so will just keep things crossed and go from there. Have a lovely evening all!

TheRealHousewife · 09/02/2023 18:58

Hi @SanFranBear You sound very busy! I’m sending positive vibes for your weigh-in tomorrow 🤞

Posting a photo of soup prep of 15 veg... Did I mention I like veg 😬. Pleased to say OH gave me a hand. Added to this was frozen peas, tinned toms, tomato purée, 2 tsp miso paste, brewers yeast, s&p, mixed dried herbs, green lentils, GF soup pasta, chicken stock, chopped chorizo (yes really, it’s a subtle kick).

That looks and sounds absolutely incredible RealHousewife can I come round to yours? 😁

Sending you strength and motivation to continue doing well SanFran so often life just doesn't have ideal circumstances for health eg your afternoon of nibbles and not having things in for dinner. Hope you're having a lovely meal tonight.

Today has been good, I've had a couple of cakes but have also walked much more than I normally do, so hoping it's not being stored!

I'm off for a shower to symbolically do something other than continue the dinnertime munching. I might have a cup of tea later, but have decided that I've eaten plenty today and the kitchen is ✨closed✨

AutisticLegoLover · 09/02/2023 19:13

Dinner was a total wash out with sweets, hot chocolate and a creme egg Blush in more positive news my BMI is now 23.5! It was 24 something last I checked so that's a lovely boost. I've just put my oats and chia to soak overnight to make them cook faster in the morning. Despite all the fibre and lots of fluids I'm still bunged up. I've really upped the water today in the hopes of getting things moving. I think things are just moving more slowly due to a lower volume of food in my system plus time of the month approach

TheRealHousewife · 09/02/2023 20:09

@AutisticLegoLover Thats a fantastic result! Well done!

@Cloudberries123 I do like hearty soups! 😬.

I've been plateauing for ages, so have to take some action to kick start losing the final stone!

I've decided to stick to 1200 calories mid week so I have more of a cushion at the weekend. I might need to cut back on my excessive tea consumption!

Also, I use nutracheck, so I'm going to log meals in advance so I know at the start of the day if I have room for snacks.

Today's meals

B - boiled egg & toast
L - home made soup, half a pitta bread with a teeny bit of mayo, apple
D - chilli & rice

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/02/2023 21:24

Soup prep looks great @TheRealHousewife we're big fans of home made soup.

Weatherwax13 · 09/02/2023 22:26

Usually only post on Wednesdays but I popped onto the thread looking for motivation (of which there is heaps. Well done everyone!)

Then did daily weigh to pop into the app @TheRealHousewife suggested.

Despite the very non consistent progress I've lost an average of 1.3kg a week apparently!

I've pushed over 8kg loss today. And 13cm off my waist! Feel really encouraged. That's since December 27th.

This thread is soooo helpful for the days when there's a lot going on emotionally and I feel like jacking it all in to bake cake. Such a supportive space:)

And just realised this sounds very boastful but I wanted to write this down as it's such a long time since I've felt even vaguely positive about myself. I'm sure many of you will recognise that and I hope everyone keeps going as we all deserve to feel good about ourselves don't we🧡🧡🧡

Weatherwax13 · 09/02/2023 22:30

Bloody glitchy paragraphs!

TheRealHousewife · 09/02/2023 23:50

@Weatherwax13 What a lovely post! You deserve to blow your own trumpet, you’re making healthier choices and reaping the well deserved rewards 👍👏❤️ Keep going. If you must bake a cake, bake it for a friend who might need cheering up 🧁

Thank you @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo . It’s made about 10 portions 👍 Left 4 out for the next 2 days lunches for 2 of us. Rest in freezer for the next couple of weeks.

Hello All
Feeling much more positive today, after yesterdays mini breakdown DH dragged me out to my favourite restaurant to cheer me up it was delicious but I did eat 2.5 courses (shared a starter) and 2 glasses of wine. Conclusion of the meal was I am going to be quitting my Job, we can afford to not have my salary while I look for something else and it just isn't worth the damage its doing to my health.

Scales weren't pretty this morning up that whole kg I lost but I remembered about taking measurements and I have lost 1.5 inches of my waist, 3 inches off my hips, 1 inch of each thigh and 2 inches of my bottom since I last did them which I think was around September. Very pleased with those, particuarly the hips because I carried a lot of weight around my hips and belly.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/02/2023 07:10

Well done on the steady losses @Weatherwax13 and congratulations on the decision making and inch loss @Allthegoodnamestakken

I forgot to weigh on Wednesday, so did it today and have had a mini whoosh - 2lbs down. Hopefully not a mini blip 😀

AutisticLegoLover · 10/02/2023 07:17

@Allthegoodnamestakken that sounds so positive. WhT a lovely dh you have too. The kilo will just be food snd fluid sat in your system and will go over a day or too.

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I love a whoosh-congratulations!

ImALittlePea · 10/02/2023 07:28

Morning all!

Allow me to blow your trumpet along with you @Weatherwax13 amazing progress!

@Allthegoodnamestakken hooray to the NSV and to the supportive DH re your job situation. Positivity abounds ❤️

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo yay to the whoosh!! (And also I'm with you on the excessive tea consumption - but I equally think better that than biscuits?!)

WOF for me today - loss of 2oz. Tiny, but down is down 😁 slowly, slowly catchy monkey 🐒 chipping away towards the target range I have in mind.

School breaks up today so I'm fully expecting my resolve and standards to slip over the half term. But I think I have enough wiggle room to stay under the 10st mark, hopefully I can stay sensible enough to manage that anyway! Come at me, motivation!

Have a good Friday everyone ☺️

ginsparkles · 10/02/2023 07:35

Good morning everyone ...

Well done @Weatherwax13 !!

@Allthegoodnamestakken ... sounds like a good meal and chat with DH. Glad you are feeling positive.

So I quietly started taking control. I stepped away to get my head organised. And having done so I'm rewarded with a 3lb loss this week. My weigh in day will be out of sync with you all, but hope you don't mind.

Plan for today is
Gluten free cereal at breakfast.
Out for a spa with a friend so salad for lunch
Chicken fajitas tonight.

Have a fabulous Friday everyone

AutisticLegoLover · 10/02/2023 07:54

60.25kg this morning. If I could poop I'd probably be 59 something.
I've ordered some raspberries and strawberries from Waitrose and I'm hoping they have them. Asda haven't had any all week. Nor has the Co-op.

I'm so glad it's Friday. Hope you all have a great day and keep on keeping on and remember to drink plenty of water.

Ninjachicken · 10/02/2023 07:57

Well done @ginsparkles that’s amazing 🤩
enjoy your spa day!
@ImALittlePea a loss is a loss ! Keep doing what you’re doing and try not to let the difference in routine (or lack of one) throw you off too much. I need to keep the same thing in mind with my house guests arriving on Sunday
@Allthegoodnamestakken sounds like you have made the right decision. No job is worth your mental health. Massive achievement with your measurements! I never think to do that

plan today:
poached eggs and toast for lunch
salmon with chilli and coriander crumb and fresh peas for dinner
snack: fruit, yoghurt, oats

does anyone else have scale accuracy issues? I have Renpho electric scales and depending on where I am in the room I can be over a kilo up or down. We have wooden floors so they should be pretty even and the scales are less then 5 years old. It’s frustrating !

Cloudberries123 · 10/02/2023 08:00

Morning and well done losers! ⚖️

Just posting for accountability really as I'm feeling really emotional today and can see that heading into overeating as a way to self-soothe. DP and I had an argument at about 5am to do with parenting, and although we both apologised and had a little cry and cuddle, I still feel all off kilter. Add to that, a big change in my professional life today and I'm all anxious and just feeling negative about the whole day.

Currently having a sweet coffee and a ham and cheese sandwich. Got to focus on positive and non-food ways to get my mojo back 🧘🏻‍♀️
