Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

It can't be that time already?! Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife - checking in ready for Feb!

AutisticLegoLover · 28/01/2023 12:04

Thank you. I'll be checking in on Wednesday with hopefully a new all time low weight.

Ninjachicken · 28/01/2023 14:12

See you Wednesday!! 😁 hoping to be below 66kgs 🤞

Cloudberries123 · 28/01/2023 15:18

Placemarking! I'm around 96kg at the moment, will weigh in on Tues 31st on the January thread and then pop on over here to hopefully get going with some faster losses! 😅

greenspaces4peace · 29/01/2023 05:14

Placemarking

SingaporeSlinky · 31/01/2023 10:16

Bumping ready for tomorrow. Will Weigh On Wednesday, nice coincidence that it’ll be the 1st of the month.

Cloudberries123 · 31/01/2023 13:36

I've missed my window to weigh in on the last day of January (before eating and drinking but after a loo visit - sometimes the logistics don't happen!) but I'll be weighing in tomorrow morning fresh for a renewed focus on February 💪🏻

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/01/2023 18:16

Getting this on my threads. After a disastrous January (weight wise, lots of fun times otherwise) Grin I need to get a grip.

Calorie counting for me. I need to take it easy on the exercise front for a wee while while something is investigated, but hopefully that won't take long. Exercising definitely helps me make good food choices.

AutisticLegoLover · 01/02/2023 06:43

Hello February!

WOW for the first of the month is 61.15kg.

That's a loss of 4lbs from the 9th January.

Have a great day and a great month everyone!

ginsparkles · 01/02/2023 07:43

Fresh month.... managed to maintain last month. Would be amazing if the time of the month didn't arrive at the end of the month! As the weight goes up Confused

Anyway, onwards and downwards.
Plan for today:
Breakfast- banana when I get to work
Lunch - carrot and honey soup, ryvita followed by yogurt
Dinner - cowboy pie (way to calorie heavy! Should have checked before sticking it on the meal plan!!)
Snacks - fruit

So the downfall for me is when I get home from work, I'm wanting food, by the time DH is home and food is cooked it's a good hour or more before I eat, and I'm a nightmare for attacking the biscuits/snacks in the cupboard and fridge. Soooo what can i go and grab instead, low cal, filling enough to take away the urge but not enough to destroy dinner. I usually have a couple of hundred calories spare at this point of the day, based on 1400 calories a day. (I'm 5'10 weight 12st and want to be in the 10's again although I suspect peri menopause is preventing that a touch!)

TheRealHousewife · 01/02/2023 07:47

Morning, please can I join you? I haven’t been watching myself recently and have crept into the realm of my size 12 jeans being tight and uncomfortable.

Im 12st on the nose but I find measuring myself a better indicator. Will be cutting out wine and subbing for gin and slimline, low carb clean food for a while. I considered rejoining slimming world but I just don’t agree with their food grouping and unlimited certain carbs.

Fara22 · 01/02/2023 08:31

I can't believe we're into Feb already...

Only a 2lb weight loss in jan. But, I had stopped losing / gained a bit throughout December, so I've reversed that pattern. I have also:

  • properly kicked my Diet Coke habit
  • been walking every day
  • been doing Pilates 3 times a week

I am definitely feeling firmer and stronger! Even if this is not reflected in the scales yet. Short month, let's make the most of it!

TheRealHousewife · 01/02/2023 08:40

Welcome to the thread @daisymade Your plan sounds sensible 👍

Hi @Fara22 Well done on your loss! You’ve listed 3 fantastic positives! You’ll be building (precious) muscle which per square inch is denser than fat. So in the short term fat loss isn’t reflected on the scale but your silhouette will be more toned and svelte! Well done!

Morning all and happy February!

2lbs loss since last week so I’m chuffed with that.

SW 9st 12
CW 9st 9
TW 8st 12

Will catch up later

Aftertheharvest · 01/02/2023 09:01

Definitely feel I have had a January ‘reset’ and 5lbs down over the month. Didn’t quite reach my under 10 stone mini target but hope that will be next week. I’d like to get to 136lbs in February but have a holiday in amongst that (where I don’t do intermittent fasting) so we’ll see.

My other February goal is to up the exercise, even just walking!

1.5 lbs down on last week…

SW: 146 lbs
CW: 140.75 lbs
GW: 132 lbs

ginsparkles · 01/02/2023 09:14

Well done @Aftertheharvest and @SingaporeSlinky

buzzofthebumblebee · 01/02/2023 09:18

Pinch and a punch. I'm reporting in to you lovely lot and want to loose 5 lbs in Feb

SW 11 13
CW 11 7
GW1 10 10

Shiny new month, spring peeping through - we can do this!

ndo4000 · 01/02/2023 09:19

WOW!

SW: 66kg
CW: 65.6kg
TW: 60kg

Have managed 2 runs this week and did skipping on the other days (possibly the most exhausting activity in the world).

Have been pretty good during the day (except Sunday when I was served a 4 course meal and I ate everything. And had seconds.)

I still cannot resist crisps in the evening when I'm sorting out supper for the kids. How do I stop myself indulging in cheesy puffs? Any advice most welcome......

Cloudberries123 · 01/02/2023 09:23

gin I'm the same with the afternoon gap before DP gets home and dinner is on. Snack options... Rice cakes? Fruit leather/fruit rolls whatever they're called? Or something a bit more calorie-dense and filling eg a chunk of cheese?

Good start to February for me, bang on 96kg which IS up from my recent lowest, but is down on last week. All about those overall downward trends we talk about.

SW: 100.4kg
CW: 96kg
Mini goal: stay at/below 95kg longer! 😂

Breakfast - water, 2 coffees, toastie, 2 doughnuts (hesitated to write it but honesty works wonders for me)

Lunch - fried eggs, apple, satsuma

WATER

Dinner - tbc

Got a little trip today which will mean over 2 hours of walking which is good. Nice and relaxed pace but quite hilly, and with the pram.

Sending happy vibes to you all, especially OP RealHousewife so good to see you back.

buzzofthebumblebee · 01/02/2023 09:23

Great Jan losses @Aftertheharvest @AutisticLegoLover & @SingaporeSlinky ! And maintaining huge achievement too @ginsparkles

gin - can you munch on carrot sticks & other crudités? Not filling by any means, but takes the edge off ...

I only do pilates x1 a week @Fara22 but agree that the toning and strength benefits are enormous. I think of it as turning wobbly fat into lean muscle, so no actual weight loss but def shrinkage factor !!

ImALittlePea · 01/02/2023 09:27

Hellooooo Feb!

Nice to see you posting again @TheRealHousewife

I only weigh Fridays, so I'm taking my weight from last week as my January movement, which is a loss of 3lb for the month.

Stats:
SW (Jan 2022) - 11st 8lb
CW - 9st 13lb 6oz
TW - I think I'm working towards a target 'range' of 9st 8-10lb

(aware I rarely post these in full)

I'm CONVINCED I'm going to gain on Friday and push back up into the 10s. Don't know why, I don't think I've been as 'bad' as prior weeks but I still think it's going to happen.

Anyway, today is looking like:
Lunch - return of the cup-a-soup lunch over here (missing it after two days of going rogue haha)
Dinner - jacket potato, beans, cheese (will weigh!) and a big salad with dressing

I'm going to try and start logging in MFP again. I think I need to if I'm going to shed these last tricky few lb and then keep them off. I've just logged the above menu in and it's coming in at 992 for the day. MFP is giving me a daily target of 1342 cals/day but I try to stick to 1000-1200 (during the week, at least) - so there's some wiggle room.

Happy 1st of the month all!

ginsparkles · 01/02/2023 09:27

@buzzofthebumblebee @Cloudberries123 they are the things i should snack on.... biscuits are just so nice though Blush

Toying with the idea of going back to intermittent fasting. It worked well for me, so I think I might try that again next week. Will meal plan on that basis

Rewis · 01/02/2023 09:42

SW 88.7kg
Last week: 88.7kg
This week: 89.1kg
GW 85kg

I'm actually a bit pissed off. I've stopped ordering take away (i previously had maybe twice a week) and reduced sweets and alcohol etc. And I've gained weight? I mean I could do more regarding calories tracking and eat better etc. But homemade chicken and rice is syrely better than totally overeating a curry. I'd accept being the same weight while body adjusts but gaining weight? Argh.

Jan challenge was no take away.

Maybe in Feb I'll get back to walking. Minimum of 20min everyday. Maybe before work?
