Hi All,
I’m going to be starting Saxenda today, hoping this will help me to overcome my awful eating habits at the moment, which has made be gain 2 stone in a year.
Any advice would be great!

I went to my local pharmacy and got 100 for £9

ChampagneCommunist · 04/12/2022 21:10

2lb more gone, 6 in total.

Aided by an upset stomach, but I'll take that

Bumblebeehum · 05/12/2022 07:53

Well done Champagne!

Had a thought over the weekend, while I’m on a low dose, I’m happy to be losing 2lb a week but what happens when you get to max dose and your pens only last a week?!

Im not going to be happy losing 2lbs for £50 a week!

mathis2006 · 05/12/2022 10:59

Moved on to 1.8 last week amd have been so unwell! Body aches, nausea, low blood sugar.

Clearly not eating enough, causing me to feel jittery. So tired though.....Going back to 1.2, as this is affecting me daily.

MMC20 · 05/12/2022 19:05

Well done everyone!. 11 days in and lost about 6 pounds. At the risk of oversharing my daily 'movements' are non existent! Any one else suffering with slow bowel? Charming I know 😁

alloutofcareunits · 05/12/2022 19:41

@MMC20 well done! I haven't been weighed as I feel like I'm doing really well and don't want to be disappointed if I haven't lost! And yes, I agree on the zero bowel movements though that's not really unusual for me .....

Billythebear · 05/12/2022 19:51

Well done everyone!
I’ve lost 11lb now, hoping to get below 11 stone before Christmas.
I have kept to the lowest dose, as I felt too nauseous on 1.2.

Ah I'm delighted it's not just me then. Hope you're clothes are feeling looser!

mathis2006 · 06/12/2022 16:56

Turned out I have bacterial pneumonia. I went to A&E convinced I had gallstones. It all came back clear, but diagnosed with pneumonia. So the body aches and general malaise probably wasn't due to Saxenda. Having a break until I am better.

Billythebear · 06/12/2022 20:49

Oh no @mathis2006 hope that you are feeling better soon!

Thank you.

Week 3 check in, 3lbs this week. That’s 26lbs in total (7 on Sax), still got a long way to go (and questioning how long I can afford this!)

Londonnight · 07/12/2022 11:47

I am week two. I feel like I may be giving up. I only lost 2lb in 7 days, now gone up to 1.2mg. But I have just felt so unwell since I started Saxenda, a constant headache, and feeling ill constantly. The nausea I can probably handle, but this feeling of being ill the whole time is getting too much. I am drinking plenty of water so it's not that.

wizzywig · 15/12/2022 23:05

Hi all, can I ask what your daily routine is with saxenda? I'd posted earlier as i had originally gone with skinny jab (I don't think the company exists now) and they said to have my last meal at 2pm then nothing after that until the next morning. I couldn't stick with that routine.

Bumblebeehum · 16/12/2022 08:03

Sorry you feel rubbish London, I’ve seen people recommend switching your jab time to evening if feeling nauseous. Hope you feel better 💐

Wizzy my routine is:

7.30am Cup of tea
8am jab, vitamins, glass of Berocca (no breakfast)
12.30 lunch (a normal meal with carbs)
3pm protein drink
6.30pm dinner (same as what family has but with no carbs)

Im finding it easy to follow and losing 2 or 3lbs a week with it. Currently on 1.2 (+2 clicks). This is my 5th week.

Not sure I could handle skipping dinner.

wizzywig · 16/12/2022 09:14

@Bumblebeehum THANK YOU! I'm going to give it another go. Glad you are finding it manageable

mathis2006 · 17/12/2022 11:11

Hi,
So after a week break due to pneumonia I started again but on the lower dose ay 1.2 and worked my way up to 1.8. Weighed today and lost 1st in the last 4 weeks. I decided to stay at 1.8 for now as it is working without too much side effects. I would like to lose 1 more stone.

wizzywig · 17/12/2022 11:52

Mines arrived at boots to collect. I won't be able to though til Tues

Zireael · 17/12/2022 15:59

Good afternoon everyone, I'd like to join you if I may. I have been contemplating using Saxenda for a while now and today I have taken the plunge, completed my online assessment and ordered a starter kit.

DH is eligible for it on prescription from GP due to pre existing conditions, but I am not. He is hoping to get referred next week.

My BMI is 35.6 and I want to lose 70lbs / 5 stones in total. In 18 months, I want to be healthy and fit enough to hike the Inca Trail in Peru for my 40th birthday. I am going to do this. Fed up of feeling fat, frumpy and unhappy!

Bumblebeehum · 21/12/2022 08:20

Best of luck Ziri, that sounds achievable. I'm 2 points higher on BMI than you so have a similar journey ahead. I've been on for 6 weeks now and consistently lose 2 or 3lbs every week. The Sax makes me feel I can keep this up.

Can we talk Christmas and how best to manage that?

wizzywig · 21/12/2022 22:29

Got my pack! Will start in the morning

Zireael · 22/12/2022 14:52

Hi @wizzywig - how did you get on this morning? My starter pack arrived yesterday and I decided to start straight away - DH thought it was better to start after Christmas, but thats part of the problem! I've made my decision I need to sort myself out so why wait, I'm hoping it will well and truely be in my system and keep me sensible over the festivities.

It was very easy to assemble the pen, needle and check the flow. I thought it would be like my DH's glucose monitor; that you place the pen against your skin before the needle even appears. But the needle is so fine I didn't feel a thing when I injected and have no bruising or sore spot today.

@Bumblebeehum what are your concerns over Christmas? Do you have any particular things that might be difficult for you to manage?

We are hosting this year so I won't offend anyone if I don't eat every thing I'm offered. Plus I'm going to be really honest with my family, tell them I am taking Saxenda and that I want their support to get healthier. My FIL is a marathon runner so will be totally supportive, by BIL and his wife have both had weight struggles (lost loads of weight together on SW then put it all back on) so will not judge me, my MIL is always fussing about hers and other peoples' weight and might ask a lot of questions, but thats fine. DH is interested in Saxenda, and will be eligible for it on the NHS in our area so wants to see how I get on.

Bumblebeehum · 22/12/2022 14:56

I think during previous Christmas’s I’ve always taken a break on the day/week/month itself and eaten a load that’s put me back to square one. I can already feel my attitude to chocolate becoming more lax (one won’t won’t hurt), just scared of going too far down a slippery slope!

wizzywig · 22/12/2022 15:14

@Zireael I don't feel any different yet... I don't know if it takes a few days to kick in?

Totally agree; its so easy to say, oh well, one blow out means I may as well not bother. I'm sure thats how so many of us end up in the weight loss/regain cycle. Plus it is easy to lose track of time over Bank Holidays and all the days blur into one so there is nor clear end point.

Thing is though, there comes a point where we just have to take a stand with ourselves and stick to it. Otherwise we are wasting money and putting chemicals into our bodies for no good reason at all.

What do you use for motivation? I have a pinterest board full of quotes and inspiration that I read and add to. I have started a journal for planning my trip to Peru in as well.
