Hi All,
I’m going to be starting Saxenda today, hoping this will help me to overcome my awful eating habits at the moment, which has made be gain 2 stone in a year.
Any advice would be great!

Thank you both. I’ve done the online with Boots so I’ll see what they say. Excited to try this and see if it works if I’m allowed it. Thank you and hope all goes well for all on it.

alloutofcareunits · 09/11/2022 19:29

@liverpoolgal82 fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

Billythebear · 10/11/2022 20:57

@TheWatcherok thats amazing! Well done!
It’s really strange how you just don’t feel that hungry.

I started taking Saxenda in January and stopped about a month ago because it is expensive and I just felt like it was time to try without it.

I have lost 6st 7lb in total, 6st with Saxenda and the 7lb since stopping Saxenda and I am hoping to lose a further 9lb.

I stayed on the lowest dose possible for as long as possible and upped the dose only when I felt I really needed to.

I've not really suffered many side effects other than a bit of constipation now and again.

I found what time of day I took saxenda made no difference to how it worked and neither did the injection site.

Saxenda has literally changed my life.

alloutofcareunits · 13/11/2022 17:03

@RaisingH that's amazing!!! Well done! I started on Wednesday, I'll get weighed in the morning and see how I'm doing. I feel slightly nauseous but nothing too bad, no appetite at all so eating very little. Only issue I've had is feeling lightheaded at times probably due to lack of food

liverpoolgal82 · 13/11/2022 18:41

@RaisingH brilliant! That’s fantastic. Well done, what an achievement. I was accepted with Boots online for it despite my thyroid concerns. Today was day two (but third evening to do injection is tonight)
It probably was not the best weekend to start it as it was my daughter’s 16th so have had a meal booked out for both days this weekend but I wasn’t too interested in eating much on Saturday at all but today I managed more as I’ve been hungry today but I forgot to hold the pen down for a few seconds longer last night so I was wondering if maybe I didn’t get all the dose. Had a terrible headache at the meal also and a bit light headed. I was too excited to wait until after the weekend though and to let myself enjoy eating out before plunging into it. I was too keen to start.

Shortpoet · 13/11/2022 22:51

@dudsville and @RaisingH you’ve both gad really good success.
Would you mind telling me what a typical day is for you?

I’ve just ordered from Asda, arriving tomorrow. I have a bit to lose that has crept on since early menopause and 2020. Hoping to start tomorrow once it arrives. Do people take it before bed, or in the morning etc? Average weight loss first week? I could do with some encouragement so happy to do daily check ins with the group x

Bumblebeehum · 14/11/2022 19:06

Hi, I’ve been lurking on the Bariatric thread for a few weeks but decided to give this a go over Christmas to see if I can avoid surgery. I have a LOT to lose!

Have ordered 3 on Boots and starting tomorrow. Thing that worries me most? Needles 🙈

Hi, I don’t feel the needle. It’s so so fine and tiny. I was the same but I’d do this every day no problem. I’m day four and feel less bloated. Definitely has stopped cravings - there isn’t anything I fancy to eat which is an unusual feeling. Good luck!

Hi, same for me- menopause and then diagnosed with under active thyroid and I got out of the habit of swimming so I piled it on.
I do my injection at around 8pm as that’s just after I’d got back from the pharmacy on the first day and was keen to do it 😁 so have stuck to that time. Do whatever fits best for you. Incase it made me feel nauseous in the hours afterwards I just thought I’d stick with night time but I’m guessing if it’s going to make me feel nauseous it probably will anyway during the day. So far so good though.

At 45 I am a serial yo yo dieter, loosing the same 1-2 stones every few years and never really getting to where i'd like to be! the last few years i've just crept up and up and up and I needed to regain control. My appetite and greed was huge so I started with saxenda. I've found it impossible for quite some time to stick to anything, but this time in i'm still in the game, motivated and finding it pretty easy. I'm 1 stone 7 lbs down in 10 weeks, not the quickest loss, but a steady loss and I'm feeling so much better. I haven't stopped for weekends away or meals out, etc, just plodded on. I've got a way to go to get to where i'd like to be but take each day/week as it comes. I haven't bothered to count calories, I simply can't consume as much as I was and I've actively cut down on my wine drinking (which is a big factor in my weight issues to be fair, lots of empty calories and then snacks on top). I'm still on a 1.2 dose. I may increase soon as me appetitie is creaping up a bit, but i'm currently getting over covid so just want to feel 100% again before I increase dose. Good luck everyone.

mathis2006 · 15/11/2022 19:31

Hi,
I just received my pens today. Had my first dose tonight. Really hoping it works. Will keep updating on results and side effects.

Bumblebeehum · 16/11/2022 11:50

First jab ✔️

The needle didn’t hurt but it bled a fair amount and hurt afterwards, did I pick a bad spot? (Thigh, most hated, most fat but possibly a bit of muscle in there?)

I have PLENTY of other options for fat spots to pick!

alloutofcareunits · 16/11/2022 11:56

Well done on your 4 pounds in week 1 @Billythebear! I've done a full week now and have also lost 4 pounds, very pleased with that! I feel quite nauseous a lot of the time and almost like there's a ball in my stomach as I feel full up to my neck - that probably makes no sense but I can't describe any other way. Has anyone else noticed a lack of sensation in their stomach? I drink cold water at work and can usually feel it go down but now I can feel it cold down my throat then nothing, as though the trigger of feeling in my stomach isn't connected to my brain?! I can't feel the cold water hit my stomach like I usually would - anyone else?

mathis2006 · 16/11/2022 13:08

Had my first jab yesterday. So far so good no nausea or side effects. I feel that my appetite is reduced, stopping me to graze 24/7. I am trying to stick to the fast 800 diet . Wondering if the appetite suppression is just in my head. I also feel like a ball in my stomach. Looking foward to see what happens on day 2.

lurchermummy · 16/11/2022 13:11

Is it possible to get this on prescription? My BMI is about 33 I think

mathis2006 · 16/11/2022 13:28

Yes I think so.

alloutofcareunits · 16/11/2022 15:54

@lurchermummy you probably need to speak with your GP, I didn't try as I don't think I'd be eligible for it. I'm not sure if it depends where you live?

JoelDommettsTux · 16/11/2022 18:10

Waiting to be approved with asda online, can't wait to start. I thought I was 13stone 1 ish, imagine my shock when the scales said 13 stone 11 Shock
Actually not shock as I feel so much bigger anyway
Fingers crossed
I've ordered one pen, if it works I might try to get via GP

JoelDommettsTux · 16/11/2022 18:11

Sorry that makes my BMI 31.8 so should be eligible right?

Billythebear · 16/11/2022 19:20

Hi everyone,
It’s so good to have somewhere to check in with others who are doing it.
I feel really motivated to keep going now, although still feeling quite nauseous especially not long after the injection.
I take it about 6pm but thinking of pushing back a little later, so the worst of the nausea is when I’m sleeping! Although it definitely stopping my late night snacking!

@Billythebear did you notice a decreased appetite straightaway after taking the first injection?
