Morning, here is the new thread.

I haven't weighed this morning, but will take yesterday's weight as my starting point, 9st2.75. So up a pound since the start of April. Aiming to do better in May.

State of emergency here - 10/10. I started HRT last week, could it be fluid?

Hope poorly people are well soon. I am still no taste/smell after Covid.

Octopus37 · 18/05/2022 12:04

Sorry to hear you're lurgied as well @LBB2020. Hope you feel better soon, my DS has got my one now.

Dont worry about the weight @Judystilldreamsofhorses, it will be water retention.

Could be covid-after effects too, Judy, with your body hanging on to weight to feel better (I'm not a dr but it sounds sensible!).

11.11 here so a pound to go for my May target of 11.10. Next step will be losing those 10lbs before a holiday at the end of July!

sparklyglitterball · 18/05/2022 20:28

Hey all, sorry for those who are feeling poorly. I know I'm always ravenous when I get a cold for some reason! It's really annoying. I'm plodding along not really losing much on the scales, but my summer clothes are fitting more comfortably and feel looser, so the exercise I'm doing must be helping 🤞 I also can't believe it's Wednesday already!

QueenMabby · 19/05/2022 07:35

@Judystilldreamsofhorses - I was up and down a lot when I started HRT.

I've just changed from cyclical to continuous progesterone and that's playing havoc too. Cycle's all over the place and weight up massively this week (not just hrt to be fair it was quite a biscuitty week!). Steps are good though and will try and get the eating under control for the second part of the week. DS just started his GCSEs so there's a bit of stress eating in there too!

Octopus37 · 19/05/2022 08:07

Think hormones and illness have a lot to answer for with weight. I haven't weighed this morning

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 19/05/2022 19:36

Hope your DS is feeling better @Octopus37 and good luck to your DS @QueenMabby for his exams!
Hope everything starts to settle down for you @Judystilldreamsofhorses, I’m dreading menopause hopefully I have few more years yet.
Still plodding along here, steps ok, food and water could be better. Will weigh on Sunday

sparklyglitterball · 19/05/2022 22:13

Sending sympathy you both dealing poorly DC and exam stress! It's so much harder to eat/drink healthily when life isn't running as smoothly as we'd like. I've had a lovely day with pre schooler DC today.......but it all went to pot when I picked the other two up from school and they all proceeded to bicker and wind each other up until bedtime 🤨 I've been stress eating chocolate and DH and I broke our no booze until the weekend rule with a large G&T tonight. Not a great day diet wise!

sparklyglitterball · 19/05/2022 22:15

I'm also not relishing menopause when my time comes......but from what I've read on this thread HRT is the way to go if symptoms are an issue!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/05/2022 23:10

Good (sorry) to know others experienced fluctuations on HRT. I want to get a coil fitted (on my GP’s advice) but it seems like a total faff accessing it, and really frustrating.

I’m actually still testing Covid positive and just can’t seem to get properly well. My smell is coming back a little bit but also having false smells - sudden wafts of things like fish out of nowhere! I know if I could taste again I would be able to get my eating more under control, I am just never “satisfied”.

Good steps this week at least - just over 17k today and I am at 60k for the week now.

Octopus37 · 21/05/2022 09:32

@QueenMabby hope your DS's exams are going, well, My DS is on the mend luckily, hopefully back at school on Monday.

Well done on your steps @Judystilldreamsofhorses , mine have been awful recently which I think is part of the reason for my gain over the last couple of months.

Weighed 9st3.75 this morning. Think I'm a bit out of steam with everything and feeling generally lazy, hoping it will pass soon. Off shopping today with my bestie, which will be great, lots of steps, but probably also lots of food and drink lol

LBB2020 · 21/05/2022 09:33

@Judystilldreamsofhorses you've really had a bad time with Covid, hope you’re feeling better soon. My smell did take months to return to normal, hopefully yours will come back soon.
Food was ok yesterday and I went and did a barre class at the gym (I can hardly move today!), need to stay on the straight and narrow over the weekend! I’m 10st13.5lbs still which is disappointing but just just have to keep going! I’d really like to get down to at least 10st7lb by my birthday at the end of next month, we will see!

Octopus37 · 22/05/2022 10:49

Hi, hope everyone is having a good weekend. I've decided to try a new tactic, stop obsessing about the whole thing and to weigh once a week instead. The last couple of months I've gained, so I'm starting to wonder if I step back a bit whether I might end up eating a bit less. Will see ow it goes.

OP posts:
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/05/2022 11:04

I might do the same @Octopus37 - I weighed once a week for years and it served me well. When the first lockdown happened and I wasn’t so mega rushed in the morning I started doing it every day, and never stopped.

(10/9 this morning.)

LBB2020 · 22/05/2022 12:01

I think weighing once a week is a good idea. I usually weigh on a Friday morning (unless I’m scales dodging lol!). Went to the zoo yesterday so lots of walking but food wasn’t the best (I had 2 ice creams 😳). Have been to the gym this morning now out for a walk and picnic. Hope you all have a lovely day

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/05/2022 14:00

I don’t work on a Wednesday so always weighed then. I have an addictive personality so find it quite hard to break a pattern once I am in one. A few years ago I became a bit crazy about weighing and my DP confiscated my scales!

QueenMabby · 22/05/2022 15:59

I weigh on Wednesdays although might not this week as I can't seem to stop eating at the moment!

LBB2020 · 25/05/2022 07:12

How is everyone doing this week?
I've not been the best with food (but definitely not as bad as I have previously been!), water is getting better and steps/exercise is going well! I’m really enjoying going to the gym a few times a week!

Octopus37 · 25/05/2022 07:36

@LBB2020 glad you are enjoying the gym. I am doing a bit better this weak, sounds wierd but I'm accepting that I will have chocolate, have a snack etc, without obsessing about it and eating even more. I've also managed my steps so quite pleased with that. Weighed this morning, 9st2.25, I will weigh again on the last day of the month for the new thread.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 25/05/2022 09:20

I'm glad you’re doing better @Octopus37 . I’m the same if I tell myself I can’t have things it’s all I can think about!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/05/2022 10:59

I weighed 10/10 today and will not weigh again until next Wednesday. I am finding not weighing daily really hard.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/05/2022 17:04

Ah my period just started so maybe that has a hand in the mix. 🤷🏻‍♀️

QueenMabby · 25/05/2022 20:05

Weigh in for me today - 9st 6.6lb so 1.2lb down from last week. Am not exercising very much so am a bit worried that some of that is lean muscle mass.

Will wait and weigh in next Wednesday now for the new month.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses - period will definitely have an impact. It always makes me heavier with water retention.

@Octopus37 - I think treats and things you enjoy are really important. The process will be easier and quicker if you enjoy the process!

@LBB2020 - glad you're enjoying the gym. I've been going since September and am having my usual 6-monthly itch. I'm bored of it and want to try something new. Might try a really really slow run tomorrow.

LBB2020 · 26/05/2022 07:20

Your period will definitely be the reason @Judystilldreamsofhorses
@QueenMabby I'm also doing couch to 5K, I’m doing a couple of runs on the treadmill at the gym and am trying to get outside for at least one run each week too. I’ve done it before after DS1 and really enjoyed it so now the weather is getting better I thought I’d start it again so I don’t get into a rut at the gym

Octopus47 · 30/05/2022 08:09

Hi, hope everyone is ok. I'm two pounds down 9st1.75, but I'm a bit stressed at the moment so for once I haven't got my usual appetite. Hope everyone has had a good weekend.
