Morning, here is the new thread.

I haven't weighed this morning, but will take yesterday's weight as my starting point, 9st2.75. So up a pound since the start of April. Aiming to do better in May.

That sounds like a brill plan @QueenMabby. I've decided to try and focus on eating more foods that will keep my blood sugar stable, although I have just eaten some leftover crumble with berries in it. I'm trying to improve my energy levels.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

@Gardeningfool apologies I forgot to say welcome to the thread the other day. 9st2.75 this morning, I've started drinking chia seeds in water, they're meant to help keep blood sugar levels stable. I definitely noticed a difference in my energy yesterday but it could all be in my head.

Morning all, hope everyone had a good weekend. Well done on the loses and new eating plans.
I did ok over the weekend but came on my period so feel a bit bloated and yucky.
I'm trying to stick to low carb this week and see how I get on. Haven’t lost any weight for weeks (but not put any on so that’s something at least!) so feel like I need to change something

Gardeningfool · 09/05/2022 13:54

Thank you @Octopus37 ! I found chia seeds were really good at making you feel full - I had a brief fling with them when I was on low-carb. My scales seem to say I've lost nearly 4lb in 9 days, but I don't really believe it - I'll wait and see what the next few days bring. I was away for the weekend, with a friend who doesn't drink very much and cooks nice healthy food so that was helpful - apart from the chips and onion rings on the seafront yesterday! Sadly, he's also sent me a photo he took where I've got much more tummy on me than I'd hoped - so that's additional motivation...

swallowedAfly · 09/05/2022 19:09

Hadn't realised how long I'd been awol. Happy May everyone.

11:13 here so still considerably higher than before my holiday but pretty stable. Need to start going down again! It's been hectic here, first ill, then work stuff and preparing an application and lots to do for my course. Have interview on Thursday to prepare for but did manage a decent (for me) amount of steps today and very low cal so far.

Will try to start posting regularly again and get my head back into losing weight again.

sparklyglitterball · 09/05/2022 21:33

Hey all, I seem to be in grazing mode currently and need to snap myself out of it! We've had friends over at the weekend so a few tasty snacks around, plus DH and I had a few glasses of wine on Saturday. Weekends are always the hardest I find. Chia seeds sound like a good idea, I might have to give them a try. Need to better with water too. Hope you're all having a good start to the week.

Octopus37 · 10/05/2022 08:00

Good to hear that the Chia seeds have been good for other people. I've managed a drink with them every morning so far, about the only good habit I'm managing to maintain. @Gardeningfool your weight loss sounds amazing. @swallowedAfly lovely to see you, best of luck with your interview.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 10/05/2022 23:15

Hope the interview goes well @swallowedAfly
I've had an ok day. WFH but went to the gym (walked there and back so got my steps in), food was reasonably good but could have been better, water was a big improvement but could still do with drinking more! Feeling quite motivated so hopefully I will start to make some progress

QueenMabby · 11/05/2022 07:33

Morning all.

@LBB2020 - well done on the gym visit - an area I'm severely lacking in at the moment!

@swallowedAfly - nice to see you back. Am also sending positive vibes for the interview.

I was surprised by a 2.4lb loss this week! No clue where that's come from but I'm down from 9st 8.8lb to 9st 6.4lb! I'm slightly concerned that some of that is loss of muscle mass as I'm just not getting to the gym since I've gone back to work. I had a cleaner start yesterday though so I'm hoping that'll free up a bit of time.

Onwards and downwards all!!

QueenMabby · 11/05/2022 07:34

Sorry - that post had lovely paragraphs when I typed it!!

Octopus37 · 11/05/2022 07:36

9st2.75 here this morning, managed to maintain my chia seed habit so far. Everything else is a bit hit and miss.

Hello, I am bobbing around 10/7/8/9 at the moment. DP now has Covid and it just feels like everything revolves around illness. We’ve had a Gousto box this week with all veggie, low calorie meals for dinners - I still can’t taste but DP has enjoyed them! I have a code if anyone wants to give it a bash, I got four days of meals for two for £14.

Octopus37 · 12/05/2022 08:06

O no your poor DH. The Gousto box sound good, but my boys are fussy buggers. I haven't weighed today, not doing brilliantly but I am managed to maintain my chia seed water habit.

OP posts:
Octopus37 · 12/05/2022 08:07

Sounds good even

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 13/05/2022 07:05

Sorry to hear your DP now has Covid @Judystilldreamsofhorses.
Yesterday was ok, went for lunch with my DM and two of my aunts (her sisters). I really wanted a scone with cream and jam but had quiche and salad which was actually very nice! Didn’t drink anywhere near enough water and didn’t quite manage my steps. Just weighed and I’ve lost 1lb so far this month, was hoping for more but that’s better than nothing!

Octopus37 · 13/05/2022 07:46

Well done @LBB2020 . I went out for a meal last night and didn't manage enough steps. I was 9st3.5 this morning, thought it would be worse tbh. I'm just not in the groove at all at the moment, despite good intentions. I'm getting to the point where I'm fed up of constantly aspiring to be smaller. Maybe I'm not bothered enough, otherwise I would be more motivated. Sorry for the brain dump. Glad its Friday.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 13/05/2022 08:56

I know what you mean @Octopus37. I do really want to lose some weight before my birthday but it feels like such a massive effort and life feels tough enough sometimes! I am actually really enjoying going to the gym a few times a week so if nothing else I will hopefully at least be improving my health and fitness (I am in the healthy weight range but just heavier than I am used to or feel comfortable with)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/05/2022 17:10

10/9 here today. I am exactly the same @LBB2020 - healthy weight but just feel too heavy. My ideal is about 10/3 so it’s only a little over but I feel beefy. @Octopus37 maybe it is good to take a step back a bit? You sound very slim to me unless you are three feet tall!

Octopus37 · 13/05/2022 21:55

For my height and weight I should be, but I'm quite pear shaped and usually need a size 12 on the bottom. You're right though, I'm just not in the groove and probably just need to try and loosely maintain. Glad its Friday anyway,

LBB2020 · 15/05/2022 10:04

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. I went out with friends for lunch yesterday so not the best day but I didn’t go crazy. Have been to the gym this morning, started couch to 5k on the treadmill so think my legs will be aching tomorrow!

Octopus37 · 16/05/2022 07:50

Hope everyone's had a good weekend. Have felt rough with a lurgy (not COVID) so haven't done very much. 9st3 this morning.

OP posts:
QueenMabby · 16/05/2022 08:06

Sorry you're feeling poorly @Octopus37. Hope you feel better soon.

I had a good weekend. Not great on the food front but I walked a lot which hopefully ameliorated some of it!

Gardeningfool · 16/05/2022 09:43

Rats - I had a rather too good weekend, when I drank too much (which meant I then ate too much), and seem to have put on 2 1/2lbs since Friday. I hate this yo-yo stuff, where I lose a few pounds, put on a few pounds, need to lose the same pounds again! I was also aiming to get to 13 1/2 stone before I went on holiday in just under 3 weeks time, and I don't now think that's going to be possible. But I'm definitely back on track today - I've bought loads of veg so I can make salads for lunch, and healthy evenings meals - and I'll see how far I get.

Octopus37 · 18/05/2022 07:48

Morning all, cannot believe it's Wednesday already. My steps weren't good for a few days cause of my lurgy but did ok-ish with steps yesterday. 9st3.25 this morning. Hoping it's sunny again today.

LBB2020 · 18/05/2022 08:45

Morning all, the week does fly by doesn’t it!
I too have caught a cold/cough from the children and feel a bit ropey. Haven’t made it to the gym since Sunday but will hopefully go tonight, I’ve also booked onto a class at the gym Friday evening which I’m quite looking forward to (although worried I won’t keep up!). Food has been ok but could be better and I’m drinking more water but probably still not quite enough
