A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@Crazzzycat to be honest I'm not sure, I've taken them this week, except last night, can't drink with them.
I think they do help to make me sleepy, so I've fallen asleep a bit quicker than normal as I can usually lay awake for ages but my problem is waking for a wee at 2/3am (thanks 3 litres of water) and then I can't get back to sleep!!

TheRealHousewife · 25/02/2022 12:29

You’re welcome @Youdoyoutoday. There is a link in the thread that’s a piece about sleeping in 2 lots with activity in the middle of the night 😮 It was a thing before industrialisation. Sleep deprivation headaches are so draining, hope you find relief. Give up chocolate ? You mentioned you was going to knock it on the head anyway 🍫

I hope so too, hopefully getting back to exercising will help. I've been grateful of the break this past 2 weeks buy looking forward to getting back to it.

Lent will be no alcohol and no sugar!! 🤯

SunshineCake1 · 25/02/2022 13:16

Thanks @ImALittlePea. I'm not very good at looking after myself but I do need to be kinder to myself. Still not heard from DD but she has read my message now .

youdoyoutoday · 25/02/2022 15:46

@TheRealHousewife had a read through the sleep thread the article on biphasic sleep! I dont fancy that, much prefer a decent night's sleep!

I think its a combination of the mental load, thinking about what needs doing etc, peri-menopause what with the temp changes as I sometimes wake up hot, kick the duvet off then can sometimes doze off then wake up cold! Its certainly got worse since my mum died as once the madness of the day was over, I'd just lay in bed and think about stuff (don't we all?) but I would eventually drop off. Now I'm going to bed earlier, reading, going to sleep then waking in the night to pee, I really hate my bladder! I'm mindful to try to drink all my water early on in the day to help this but I only need to think of water and I need to pee!

@Youdoyoutoday I took melatonin for a while but found that i would wake up at 3ish and not be able to get back to sleep. Instead I started rigorous evening sleep hygiene measures (so much meditation and podcasts about particle physics!) and then if I wake up at 3am then that is when I take the melatonin (I take it immediately). It works better for me that way.

pennysays · 25/02/2022 16:30

@Youdoyoutoday how are your pelvic floor muscles? I’m on it with the NHS Squeezy app and it’s helping with my bladder control. Do you need to drink 3 litres of water a day?

ImALittlePea · 25/02/2022 17:26

I hope you hear soon @SunshineCake1 💐

youdoyoutoday · 25/02/2022 17:26

@pennysays pelvic floor is not great but I do do exercises when I remember. I'll take a look at that app.

I drink 3 bottles of 800ml a day plus 2 coffees and a few cups of rooibus tea so I reckon my intake is about 3l as I'm trying to up my intake.

However I could have a thimble of water a day and would still need to wake up and wee!

youdoyoutoday · 25/02/2022 17:29

What's up @Lewis2004? What did you say to get a comment deleted on this thread? Never seen that before on here!

SunshineCake1 · 25/02/2022 17:37

Probably spam as they haven't posted anything else anywhere.

youdoyoutoday · 25/02/2022 17:42

Ah yes, you're probably right! Juice diet rubbish!

declutteringmymind · 25/02/2022 18:03

@SunshineCake1 well done on getting back on the treadmill. You did well not to fall out with it!

@pennysays I take melatonin every now and then to regulate my sleep pattern. I was doing really well with the go to bed early and wake up early but this has gone to pot. I'm sure that good sleep helps weight loss.

I'm on my period at the mo so feeling a bit bloated and wiped out as well as having chocolate cravings. I'll be happy for a STS this week.

Well done everyone. The sun is making an appearance so I for one am glad I'm a bit smaller. I've got some lovely outings and meals planned and I've been trying some spring clothing on which is motivating me a bit.

Rewis · 25/02/2022 22:29

Waking up in teh middle of the night to pee is never fun. I also have a falling asleep problem. Melatonin helped for a while. My mind just starts raising. When I got my 3rd covid vaxx I had the most insane fever mindraising. It was like 3 thought on a loop at a speed where the thought didn't finish. And funnily one of the thought was the lyrics to the "three lions" song. It was absolutely horrible. After that I've appreciated my normal over active mind.

On Monday starts my 8 week programme. Got my diet. I'm gonna do it for real as much as possible (cause obviously I can't control if I'm out with other people). Even if it means having to start eating breakfast and a snack. I really don't like eating that often. I also asked for a once a week gym programme which was voluntary. But let's try their way. At least I have people for support if it doesn't start start work and if I start soloing they can't fix it!

I also made a promise to myself to wake up early enough that I can change clothes before signing in on the comp. So yeah, new month new me 😅

Good Morning All

Ukraine 💔 Heartbreaking. Feeling so helpless and I’ve asked OH if we can accommodate a couple of displaced people. He hasn’t said no.

I totally agree @Youdoyoutoday, I’d much rather get a decent chunk of sleep in one session than bitty bits here and there. Hope you had a better night!

@Rewis I’m excited for you! Good luck, You’ve got this 👍👍👍

Last nights meal 2 was side lined as OH fancied a fish & chips supper. Even though I had gluten free version I’ve woken with stomach ache. I think there must be some cross contamination going on as it isn’t the first time.

Menu
Meal 1 - Salad with tinned salmon and cottage cheese.
Meal 2 - Sea bass & stir fried veg.
Tea, black coffee, water, cashews.

@Rewis good luck with the new programme, try your best!! That's all you can ask of yourself!!

ginsparkles · 26/02/2022 09:43

Hello all! Back from my half term break. Will no doubt have gained as there was cake and wine! But we had a lovely time.

So now it's back at it, although over to my SIL's tonight for Chinese ! But I shall be as good as possible before then.

Sending love to @SunshineCake1 hope you hear something soon.
Good luck to @Rewis on your new programme! And big love to everyone else!

SunshineCake1 · 26/02/2022 11:34

Hi everyone

Just did my first run outside since December and since I broke my elbow! I'm really pleased with how I felt and my times were all right too. It has given me a boost especially as I haven't lost any weight.

DD is suspending her uni on medical grounds. Wants to stay in the city then restart. Doesn't want to come home for the interim time. Dh and I would prefer her to come home and can't see how she can afford seven months rent when she won't get a job. He won't pay thousands for her to mess about.

Ultrasound this afternoon to see if any damage to my liver.

Fallen out with a friend but it will either be over or fine.

The lovely time is all that matters @Rewis.

8stone13 · 26/02/2022 11:36

Morning all 🙂

Day 56 - Sat 26th Feb - 9s 2lb
BMI 21.2
BF 23.5

I absolutely do not deserve that result. I ate even more chocolate yesterday 😬 I have been running round like something deranged though & been quite stressed so I guess I must be burning it up...🤨

I'll try & catch up on the thread now 👍🏻

8stone13 · 26/02/2022 12:07

Seems like there's a lot happening for all of us - new strategies, reflections on how to holistically help from sleep hygiene to exercise, and life getting in the way left right and centre - all I can say is pats on the back and good luck to all!

fallfallfall · 26/02/2022 17:52

i just poke away at what i can using the tools at hand.
sleep well i'm long past meno so sleep is a challenge i have melatonin on hand (over the counter readily available here in canada, as well as ashwangara (sp??) which is something my yogi daughter recommended and is effective as the melatonin).
i'm continuing with my low processed food and exercise despite dh buying a pizza from costco/cheese/and popcorn....
only days till the end of the month, and i'm hoping to see a drop in weight from the beginning of the month.
temps are still cold and icy enough that outdoor stuff not easy.

pennysays · 26/02/2022 17:55

Saw this post and thought of this group! www.instagram.com/reel/Caci72II2XN/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link It's so important for us to model healthy relationships with our bodies. I think a lot about what I learned from my mum.

RebeccaNoodles · 26/02/2022 18:32

@SunshineCake1 that's fab, big milestone! We had amazing sunshine here today, hope you did tooSmile

@8stone13 sounds a great result Star

After a dreadful week I'm going in strong for the remaining few days of Feb. DC birthday this week which means cake on the house but I've deliberately steered him to one I don't like as otherwise it's too tempting!

fallfallfall · 26/02/2022 19:17

interesting post @pennysays, thank you. as a grandmother i'll remember that as well.
stay strong @RebeccaNoodles, i know about temptation ;) and i'm sooo sooo weak when it comes to foods i like :(.
