A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@129orbust it’s so difficult to see. My mum was a heavy drinker and died aged 54 of lung and liver cancer. It was very difficult, but unless she wants it enough, there’s just not a lot you can do and you have to look after yourself.

I had a good day yesterday and went to the gym last night 💪🏻 Feeling much better in myself now I’ve come to a decision work wise. I have a heavy weekend planned with 2 meals out and cocktails so decided I will try and stick a couple of hundred under my allowance for the next couple of weeks to make up for it. Plus hit the gym hard!

I’m going to see my old horse this afternoon, he’s technically still mine but a lovely lady looks after him and potters about on him as he’s semi retired but I’ve bagged myself a ride. I don’t see him too often and I can’t wait, he’s the love of my life (sorry dp!) then a run later.

129orbust · 22/02/2022 12:21

@Rewis and @Foreverlexicon thanks you both - you are of course correct - there is a part of me that wants to hug her and another part of me that wants to punch her. I thought she had cracked it two years ago but since then it has been hit and miss and the last relapse very soon after leaving rehab i.e. weeks not months.
Great activities planned exercise wise - well done all Halo

Youdoyoutoday · 22/02/2022 13:28

Hi everyone,

Stepped on the scales this morning and I've lost 2lbs!! Whoop whoop!!

13 stones, 13lbs!! Finally back under 14 stones and fully determined to bloody stay there this time!!

Didn't go to bootcamp or swimming this morning as I'm not feeling great, bit of a cough and sore throat but I'm planning to get back out tomorrow and I've booked swimming for Thursday morning!!

I've also managed to go without a glass of wine since Saturday which I'm feeling like is a huge achievement! Sadly! On the positive side, I can see the difference already, my face is less puffy, my stomach is a bit flatter too.

I haven't been brave enough to try yoghurt again but will do tomorrow after the school run as I've nothing planned during the day and if my stomach ache was caused by it, then it should pass by school collection time.

Off to keep the little one of the sofa arm as that's her new fave place to stand at the mo 🤦‍♀️

Toodles x

SunshineCake1 · 22/02/2022 14:01

Welcome @pennysays. Try not to be too downhearted. A lose or a stay the same is a win. If you haven't had a loss for a while you are due a whoosh. There is always room in the 🐢club. I'm the slowest loser for sure and frequently have to lose the same stone several times Sad.

More wins there @fallfallfall. Well done.

So sorry to read about your friend @129orbust. You have done all you can and you have to look after yourself.

Sounds like you have reached a really important and solid mind place @buz. Great stuff!

I hope you have a good ride @Foreverlexicon 🐎

So pleased for you @Crazzzycat. It is such a boost when you drop down to a lower stone number.

I am still not weighing. I will wait until I am fully back into exercising. I was a bit sore this morning so I just walked the dog with dh. We then set off to go birthday money shopping but the traffic was awful so we came home. Thankfully we did as dd rang me in tears. I think she'll be coming home at the weekend for good.

SunshineCake1 · 22/02/2022 14:01

Sorry @buzzofthebumblebee. I've been having trouble @ people and then didn't see it had cut your name up.

buzzofthebumblebee · 22/02/2022 14:21

No problem @SunshineCake1 - it actually made me smile! My real name hasn't got a nickname, so I quite liked buz - made me feel young and hip or cool, whatever the phase is these days.

My heart has just wrenched for you and your DD. Daffodil

Forgot to wish you a welcome @pennysays . Good luck!

@Youdoyoutoday - ditch the 14s for good. Dig deep. You've done it before, you can do it again. Keep strong. You don't need wine bloat. You don't need excess calories. You do need to keep strong and focussed. It will be worth it when you are feeling fabulous in your wedding dress. (It is you getting married this year isn't it?). Sending you lots of positive vibes.

Youdoyoutoday · 22/02/2022 14:26

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee or buz Wink

Yes the big day is just under 4 months away now.... eek!!

Rewis · 22/02/2022 17:16

I've been doing some reading about weightloss. You know the usual, nothing revolutionary. A lot of them are tips or expressing understanding how busy life is. Like they go on about it. To the point where I get stressed out about not being that busy. Like there are busy days or busy moments. But is everyone so genuinely busy all the time that there is absolutely no time for anything that everything has to be 15min max cause that's all people can manage? I'm really thinking that this talk about busy is making everyone busyer than we actually are

Crazzzycat · 22/02/2022 18:23

Hi everyone! I’ve not posted for a few days as I’m ridiculously busy at the moment (sorry @Rewis, I couldn’t resist 😂)

To answer your question, no I really don’t think everyone is so busy all the time that they can’t find the time to make some healthy food, or go for a quick walk. I think it’s more to do with what your priorities are. Living a reasonably healthy life does take a little bit of effort. I’m sure that for a lot of people that’s the last thing they want to think about after a long day at work, or running after their kids or whatever. Much easier to order a take-away, open a bottle of wine and watch some trash tv (no judgment intended)

I’m like this with reading books. I used to tell myself that I just don’t have the time. But earlier this year I decided to put my phone down between 8 and 10 each evening and guess what..,turns out I have loads of time!

pennysays · 22/02/2022 20:01

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Had a little loss on the scales today and can definitely see it in my face and stomach and trousers, so have to not let scales rule me! Is anyone else losing for conception reasons?

129orbust · 22/02/2022 20:04

Thank you @SunshineCake1
I don't deserve the lovely welcome back and kindness shown but I really appreciate it.
I have stayed focused to day with you help so thank-you all.StarStarStar

buzzofthebumblebee · 22/02/2022 20:38

This evening's mantra - no snacking. Like you @Foreverlexicon I have a big weekend ahead, so also need to bank some calorie deficits to offset the damage ahead. Good way of looking at it. Plus it's weigh-in tomorrow.

Not sure anyone else here is losing specifically for conception @pennysays A few of us are a bit older than that (kids at Uni or beyond) but a loss is a loss whether it's for health, post baby, pre-baby, or just generally to be a slimmer more toned version of our fabulous selves.

buzzofthebumblebee · 22/02/2022 20:40

Well done @129orbust. One day at a time and you'll be back on track before you know it.

fallfallfall · 22/02/2022 20:43

thanks @SunshineCake1, it's easy to get a deflated feeling seeing the numbers but...
i added store bought taco seasoning mix to ground beef, measured about 1/4 cup of the mix which included cut up pepper (2 red peppers to 2 lbs of meat) and served it on top of riced cauliflower along with taco type toppings of fresh tomatoes lettuce and lime juice. so certainly NOT 2lb gain of food choices.
frustrating and it will take a couple days to flush it despite water consumption.
oh sunshine just read about your dd coming home, that might be for the best for now. virtual handhold coming your way.
i was told bananas (potassium) helps shift the water weight but i rarely have bananas in the house.

SunshineCake1 · 22/02/2022 21:44

@129orbust

Thank you *@SunshineCake1* I don't deserve the lovely welcome back and kindness shown but I really appreciate it. I have stayed focused to day with you help so thank-you all.StarStarStar
You absolutely DO deserve it.
SunshineCake1 · 22/02/2022 21:45

I'm not expecting to sleep tonight or if I do be up early. Probably end up
In dds bed again. So worried about her. Can't settle.

OneSwallow · 22/02/2022 22:53

I would like to join. I really really really want to do this . I need to lose four stones. I’m tired of looking at myself and seeing a walking cereal packet. I hate the way I look and not fitting any of my clothes.
Previously done it by calorie counting or low carbing. This time I need to find an approach that works for me.

I will do it for a few weeks and then lose focus. Please help me!!

Last time I lost a significant amount of weight was over ten years ago.

Crazzzycat · 22/02/2022 23:55

Welcome to the thread @OneSwallow. I was exactly where you are now a year ago. I’m four stone lighter now, so it can be done. I know this sounds a bit hippyish, but it helps a lot if you can be kind to yourself. Sure, you may not like how you look now, but be proud of yourself for deciding to do something about it. You can do it!

fallfallfall · 23/02/2022 00:07

try and sleep @SunshineCake1, if you can't i'm up for 6 more hours
cardmaking might be on tonight's agenda.

SunshineCake1 · 23/02/2022 05:45

Thank you @fallfallfall. Friday feels a long way away and I shouldn't be fixating on that day anyway. Wish I could run.

Welcome @OneSwallow. This is a great all round supportive thread.

SunshineCake1 · 23/02/2022 05:46

I was hoping to make cards this week too @fallfallfall but no chance of that. I can't concentrate on anything for long.

fallfallfall · 23/02/2022 05:56

@SunshineCake1, I know the feeling.

SunshineCake1 · 23/02/2022 06:06

It's so hard isn't it? Especially when you are so used to being busy.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/02/2022 06:31

WOW - 10st 12.25 lb- that's 2 1/4 lb loss in the last week and 9.8 lb overall since I started calorie counting and committing to a regular exercise routine on 5 Jan. really pleased with that result!

fallfallfall · 23/02/2022 06:38

Excellent @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!
Keep up the good work!
