A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@ImALittlePea still haven’t tried it! Had to have a low cal dinner last night due to big breakfast and with rice that would’ve been too much.

I went a couple of hundred over yesterday which I’m a little annoyed about as I just got too tempted by chocolate we bought and had more in the house that I would’ve liked. Need to only buy single portion bars!

Not much going on today; I want to go to the gym but will see how the weather pans it. It’s very local so would probably be okay but equally not essential and we’re in a red area so hmmm. Will have to do our run on Sunday as that’s definitely a bit much today I think!

Youdoyoutoday · 18/02/2022 09:58

Hi everyone

I'm back from holiday (god it was exhausting, need another one)
1lb heavier than last week but that's not so bad after a week of eating out every day.

I'll try to catch up with all the posts I've missed but I am trying to stay off my phone.

Also, strange question but wondering if anyone else has had this. Just before going on holiday I had my usual breakfast of full fat Greek yoghurt, berries and pumpkins seeds, 1 day I had it for lunch instead because it needed using up. For 3 days I had really bad stomach cramps after. On holiday, no yoghurt, no cramps.
Can you suddenly become adverse to something even if you've been eating it for months with no problems??

Crazzzycat · 18/02/2022 11:39

Morning all!

@Youdoyoutoday, it is possible to develop issues with some food types quite rapidly, but is it possible that the yoghurt you had was off? That sounds like a more logical explanation, but it’s not clear from your post if you’ve experienced problems since. If that’s the case you might be looking at a different issue 🤔

I have a few digestive issues myself and with a lot of the things that cause the issue, it’s not the food stuff per se, but the amount of it I have over a day, or a couple of days. So I could eat Greek yoghurt once a day, but not multiple times.

Youdoyoutoday · 18/02/2022 11:53

@Crazzzycat I only ate the yoghurt once a day and it was definitely in date, I check it every day and smell it before eating it too.
Since I've been away for the week, I've had no yoghurt and none of the same symptoms I had, extreme bloating, nausea, cramps.

I might buy a small pot and see what happens. It would be a shame if I can't eat Greek yoghurt anymore as I actually really enjoy my breakfast.

buzzofthebumblebee · 18/02/2022 13:03

I have Greek yoghurt, fruit and seeds for my breakfast too. I love it. Hope it was a random one-off @Youdoyoutoday. Nice to have you back from holidays.

And big wave to @Graphista too. No judgement from any of us, so even more important you don't self-sabotage yourself with negative thoughts.

Scales still the same, although 3 comments from people on how trim I am !! That's nice, and a big boost. I think the exercise over the last month has caused shrinkage as I haven't lost any more weight. But I'm happy with that. If I could get in the zone to shift the last 1/2 stone that would be amazing - but I can't.

Keep safe everyone!

Day 48 - Fri 18th Feb - 9s 3 & 1/4lb
BMI 21.4
BF 23.9

Stats up a bit, god knows why as I didn't eat till 5pm (busy busy days at the moment) & then didn't have much...that might be it - something to do with metabolism perhaps 🤔

Hope everyone is ok & not wind damaged - I just saw a photo of the roof of the O2 blown off 😬

Graphista · 18/02/2022 16:47

Thanks for the welcome back all and welcome to newbies - this really is an amazing thread/group

So... here's the news

The big stressor I was dealing with was housing based. Long story short where I am living just now simply isn't working any more for a number of reasons I've had to get myself somewhere else to live which when you are disabled and on benefits and the housing market is CHAOS is NOT EASY and is incredibly stressful. I've seemingly found somewhere and will now need to organise the actual move - more stress!

I'm in that limbo stage where I haven't got the keys yet so can't really sort anything.

Once the move is done and dusted I will be able to get back on track.

For now -

Drinking more (been getting headaches recently so I know I'm not drinking enough), having the sort of meals I was having when I was on track (plus I need to clear fridge/freezer and use up opened stuff in cupboards).

I'm doing a big tidy up tomorrow to try and at least START getting organised and I'll jump on scales then (I had to move them for something and they're buried at the moment! So I'll be digging them out)

Any moving tips much appreciated as I'm long out of practise!

SunshineCake1 · 18/02/2022 19:01

I hear you @Graphista. My 71 year old friend had a fall which meant she couldn't do stairs anymore and had to move. There was an option to move to a bungalow/flat but there was certain criteria to be met before she was given one. She missed out a couple of times before she could move but she had to start getting rid of things before she knew she was moving.

I'm struggling as I could probably do most things if I only had a broken elbow but the pain in my side and stomach is really getting me down. I'm trying to watch what I eat as I put loads in when stuck in bed in September but it is a weird thing that I feel almost more hungry at times when I'm not doing much!

SunshineCake1 · 18/02/2022 19:02

Tips - label each box either my number or room then write a list of what is in each box.

Box up everything you'll need for the first couple of days. Pants, comfy shoes, kettle, toothbrush etc.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 18/02/2022 19:50

My top tip about moving @Graphista is to have an utterly ruthless clearout. When we moved I thought I'd been pretty ruthless - we had to put stuff in storage for a couple of months, and when we moved into our new home, I'd say about a third of the stuff in storage still got ditched. Get rid of as much as you can. And then a little bit more.

@Youdoyoutoday how annoying about the cramps etc. could it really just have been a coincidence with the yoghurt and been a stomach bug? Hope you're able to carry on with your breakfast!

I was very pleased today - while I normally weigh on Wednesday, I tried the scales this morning and had slipped under 11 stone for the first time in forever. If felt like a real milestone for me!

TheRealHousewife · 18/02/2022 20:44

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo that is fantastic!!!! Well done 👏

Good tips from @SunshineCake1 for you @Graphista … see … we all love you ❤️ ☺️

my top tip, boxes choose easy to stack ones. not too big not too small.
start with stuff that isn't used guest pillows guest rooms wall decor and any and all "accent" pieces. wrap using spare linen, pillows for bracing lamps and face clothes for small figurines. wrap dishes in your hot as hell summer clothing (as you won't be needing those for a while) but leave stuff in drawers and simply plan on securing them.

Graphista · 18/02/2022 23:39

It's weird the things I can and can't do now and over the last 15 years since the accident.

I've ended up in private let because social housing most of the disabled accommodation is age ltd as in tenants have to be a minimum age! Because OF COURSE only older people are disabled 🙄

I'm definitely decluttering! Especially as I'm moving to a smaller place. Stuff I need straight away mum is helping me take across by car & suitcases the rest will go in boxes

@TheRealHousewife aww bless you all it is SUCH a lovely kind supportive thread

@fallfallfall good tips thanks drawers aren't coming with as they're kinda falling apart anyway.

The thing I'm most worried about? Being without Wi-Fi for an extended period of time!

Raspberry12 · 18/02/2022 23:49

It’s been a while since I posted as Covid did the rounds in our family. Then half-term straight after!

Twice today I thought the winds had died down and tried to go for a walk but it was still very blustery. So two short walks came to a 7K step count.

I made teriyaki salmon with brown sushi rice for dinner.

icklekid · 19/02/2022 08:04

Well knew half term would be tough… was going ok first half then went what’s the point let’s just enjoy it and had all the treats! Went to weigh in today to face the 4lb gain 😳

At least it’s still down from when I started 3 weeks ago! Now just getting back on it and hoping that I can get most of that off next week. Quick on quick off right?

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I slipped under same stone bracket last week and now back over it! Determined to be back under again next week!

Youdoyoutoday · 19/02/2022 09:34

On the scales this morning, I got brave!!

14 stones and 1lb!!

So I'm back to last weeks weight which is good news!

It could be worse but I'm so disappointed with myself for putting on weight over the past 2 months! I was doing so well before Xmas, down to 13.10 and now I've slipped back in to bad habits of drinking every day and snacking after dinner and have gained 5lbs since Xmas!!

I need to give myself a good shake!!

Ill be back to swimming and bootcamp as of Monday but I really want to focus on my sleep, I feel like I lay awake for hours some nights and then I'm just exhausted the next day as I get up to exercise and it wipes me out for the rest of the day.

Lent is quickly approaching so I'm thinking of what I can give up for 40 days. I always seem to do better at lent then new year resolutions, even though I'm not religious, maybe it's because it's spring, brighter longer days always help my mood making things seem easier.

Have a good Saturday 👍

buzzofthebumblebee · 19/02/2022 10:32

I too giving myself a shake today. I "celebrated" feeling so good with wine and chocolate last night. I thought I could do it, Friday night treat and all that. I clearly can't. Massive sugar crash today, feeling horrible, teary, upset, generally not in a good way. Just goes to show the huge negative effect sugar and alcohol has on my emotional well being.

Slate wiped, water water & more water today, and about to put dog in car to go for a walk somewhere different (to hopefully pull me out of my rut).

OMG - it's so NOT worth it. 5.5 months clean of wine and chocolate and then that. Really upset with myself too for giving in. : ( But at least I know right?

Youdoyoutoday · 19/02/2022 11:07

@buzzofthebumblebee yep know that feeling!!

Crazzzycat · 19/02/2022 11:43

Morning all! I had a massive blowout too. Weird that there seems to be such a coincidence 🤔

Anyway, I’m full of positivity today (although I do have the same sugar induced headache buzz mentioned above). I’ve been for a quick row and, as my nutracheck trial runs out tomorrow, I’ve taken out a 3 month subscription. I don’t like the calorie limit is sets for me. I think it’s too low, but like everything else about it. It’s highlighted some changes I need to make, so will try to do that with the next weekly shop.

8stone13 · 19/02/2022 12:48

Day 49 - Sat 19th Feb - 9s 3 & 1/4lb
BMI 21.4
BF 24.0

Stats slightly up which is odd but hopefully nothing to be too concerned about.

My sleep has gone to pot recently with busy work days then working around half term, I think I've reached for the sugar a bit more, & haven't been as mindful as I could have been. I need to get back into better habits all round really. Almost looking forward to being forced into early nights for the school run!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/02/2022 13:42

Thanks @TheRealHousewife Fingers crossed we're both still under it at the next weigh in @icklekid !

I was over on my calories last night (wine, steak dinner...) but hoping it will balance out over the week. Got a bodypump class in beforehand which was good.

I hope your walk helps you feel better @buzzofthebumblebee

BG2015 · 19/02/2022 14:01

I've lost a measly lb this week. So disappointed as I've eaten well and exercised. Not giving up though.

I know once I dip under 12 st I'll feel more positive. It will come off.

SunshineCake1 · 19/02/2022 14:36

That's great @Youdoyoutoday but stop being annoyed with yourself. The food and time has gone. There is no point. You've lost some weight so you know you can do it.

No need to be upset @buzzofthebumblebee, though we all get it, as you have made a huge realisation and it is a lot easier to keep going when you have had proof that your new way of eating is so much better than the old.

Well done on your row @Crazzzycat.

You are due a whoosh @BG2015!

In my news I had my first walk with the dog today. My arm is still sore but it was lovely to get out and see her having fun. Especially as we didn't get out yesterday.

Decided not to weigh in today as I felt I looked okay, considering, so didn't want the scales to take that from me.

Hoping for scan early next week so I can get walking on the treadmill again. Starting with that then will run.

8stone13 · 19/02/2022 19:00

@SunshineCake1 Feeling/looking good & deciding not to weigh so the scales couldn't take it away from you - that really struck a chord with me. Even if I weigh daily (it's an Autistic obsessional thing with me) I'll remember that idea, that the scales can't take away from how we feel. Thank you 🙂

Love the joy you get from watching your dog too ☺️ 🐾 Mine had to have an unscheduled paw wash when we got back from our walk. She was appalled at being plonked in the kitchen sink (as will half of Mumsnet no doubt at my dog cleaning disclosure 😉)

8stone13 · 20/02/2022 11:58

I was the last one on yesterday & the first one today 😀

Just sneaking in before midday... 🕰

Day 50 - Sun 20th Feb - 9s 2 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.3
BF 23.7

I was busy undercoating woodwork yesterday so didn't eat until later, I had some M&S quiche though which is quite salty so I expected a gain. Then some quite a bit of chocolate 🍫

More painting for me today 🖌 Have a good Sunday all 🙂
