Following on from January Thread 1

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

ImALittlePea · 25/01/2022 16:01

Sending love to those of you going through tough times at the moment ❤️

Dieting/changing lifestyle is hard enough, let alone in January, let alone with life burdens to deal with as well. I tend to consider myself reasonably good at rationalising things and coping/cracking on, but recently I've struggled more and more with various things so I've booked an assessment for counselling tomorrow. I'm proud of myself that I haven't jacked in the dieting efforts altogether (during the week, anyway) while feeling like this; I've found empowerment in my continued efforts. But it's also super important to be kind to ourselves and our mental and emotional well-being has to be well nourished as well. If that means treats (aka wine and crisps, for me) then so be it.

Thankfully feeling better from the cold today so more motivated with meals:

Lunch was one slice of 50/50 bread, half a small tin of beans and two poached eggs
Dinner is going to be homemade vegetable curry with rice

Haven't snacked yet (unless you count cups of tea, which I do include on MFP but I don't in real life...) and WELL under my calories for the day so not sure what to bump that up with.

buzzofthebumblebee · 25/01/2022 16:27

Glad you are feeling a bit better @ImALittlePea. And huge congrats on booking a counselling assessment session. I'm a great believer, and am a brighter and better and happier person for it. Hope you find the right person if you do continue. Important to get the right fit. (I had wrong one for years - money down the drain!).

Your food for today sounds great. I'm having roast cauliflower for dinner, with what I don't know though !!

Nice to have you join us @HereComesTheMum

ImALittlePea · 25/01/2022 16:33

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee I'm totally with you, I've had counselling before and totally agree with needing to find the right person. This time feels different as it's not linked to an event as such (previously I've needed it because of my dad's illness, and PTSD from my son's illness as a baby), but more to do with me. I'm hoping it helps me move forward, anyway.

Crazzzycat · 25/01/2022 17:02

Sorry to hear you are struggling @ImALittlePea, but well done for not letting it derail you and for proactively addressing it. That really is the most important thing you can do, but so often also the hardest. You should definitely feel proud of yourself!

Welcome to the thread @HereComesTheMum. I hope you’ll find it as encouraging and supportive as I do.

ImALittlePea · 25/01/2022 17:34

Thank you @Crazzzycat 😊

SunshineCake1 · 25/01/2022 17:40

Hopefully soon @buzzofthebumblebee! Still waiting on the doctor ringing to talk to DS.

Welcome @HereComesTheMum.

Hope your appointment goes well @ImALittlePea.

I have had many different counsellors over the years but only the last three helped. Some were awful. Covid meant I missed my last one after having to take a break for ages then went back. I was hoping to go back again but she hadn't replied. Just be open, honest and brave and hopefully it is the right person.

oh oh oh @8stone13 is that scooped onto a yorkshire pudding?
probably a mushroom :(
@ImALittlePea, positive thoughts coming your way it's nice to have a little support every now and then in life.
@SunshineCake1 Flowers, it wasn't 3 weeks ago i was totally enmeshed with dr's appointments, awaiting calls and results. it's stressful (20lbs to be exact) i'm still mom to my trio, the two boys are having some health issues and i needed to let go of the whole of it. they are nearing 40 and they don't ask for advice but i feel i could be more helpful if they let me.
breakfast (0930)was a nice warm bowl of thick cut oatmeal with blueberries the dollop of honey was excessive. ideally no snacking.
supper (1700) the JO veggie bake 581 calories, which btw is excellent and makes 8 servings (4 meals for dh and i)
hello @TheRealHousewife Smile

8stone13 · 25/01/2022 18:34

@fallfallfall Yes it's two Morrisons The Best Yorkshire puddings - for the perpetually hungry 14 year old, not for me (sadly!)

Raspberry12 · 25/01/2022 20:46

I kind of know how you are feeling @ginsparkles hugs to you… I found I ate a lot of my dad’s favourite biscuits after he passed away as it reminded me of him, but all the stages pass and it does get easier and at the same time the grief never goes away but changes. It’s been just over 2 years for me. I hope you feel better after a cry and some trash tv :) Also, one of the reasons my step count is quite high is that I found long walks to be good for me mentally. It might be a walk or TV or anything that carves a bit of time out for yourself, but do prioritise that time… I wish I had done that sooner.

I had cake for breakfast 🙈 the only saving grace is that it was full if nuts and not white flour as it was GF coconut / almond cake.

1 taco, chicken, black beans, red pepper and half an avocado for lunch.

Salmon, avocado and brown rice for dinner

Blackberries, pistachios and dark chocolate snacks + 2 black coffees & 1 macchiato

4 months in and haven’t lost a huge amount of weight but I do feel like the walking and better diet has become habit now. I’m hoping that all of it will add up and I’ll be considerably lighter and fitter by a year. It all adds up but can feel so slow when you begin! 😅

[quote Youdoyoutoday]This is a nice cauliflower recipe, made it yesterday for lunch and have the leftovers again today! So nice to have a hot lunch instead of a chicken salad.

Start weight: 87.7kg
Last week: 87.7kg
Current weight: 86.7kg
Goal weight: 80kg

buzzofthebumblebee · 26/01/2022 07:30

1 kg loss @Rewis - well done!

SW (1 Sept): 13 stone 2
CW : 11 stone 4

My last recorded weight I can find is 1st Dec 11stone 9, and my weight has been down and up and down again since. But I'm happy with 5lbs over 2 months which included Christmas & Covid!

HereComesTheMum · 26/01/2022 07:46

Morning everyone, thanks for the welcome!

So here goes:

Started weight (1st Jan 2021): 9st 5lbs
Current weight: 9st 1
Target Weight: 8st 1

I’m very short and dumpy. I got down 8st 13 fasting for the week after NY, but discovered that’s not sustainable, so this week just trying not to fast then binge. Try and make healthier choices that stick around rather than just short term, if that makes sense?!

Allotment123 · 26/01/2022 07:53

Wednesday weigh in 10 stone 1/2. So lost 1/2 llb this week, which I'm quite happy with after static last week. Was 11 stone 2.5 on 28th December. I don't really understand how some people manage to lose 6lb in a week, but I know I need to exercise more and it's hard to get rid of all the snacks in the house with kids

SingaporeSlinky · 26/01/2022 08:13

Morning all
SW (7th Jan) 10st 7
CW 10st 0

Very happy with half a stone in less than 3 weeks.

TheRealHousewife · 26/01/2022 08:35

Good Morning All

@fallfallfall as I’ve got older my appetite is naturally veering towards vegetarian meals with occasional fish/meat. I just don’t fancy meat and I no longer have game. On looking up the combo it suggests I’m Flexitarian - who knew there was a word for it 😬

@Rewis well done! Getting there! 👍👏🏅

@buzzofthebumblebee that’s awesome, especially after factoring in covid & Christmas 👏👍🏅

@HereComesTheMum sorry I must have missed your first post (was in a hurry yesterday when catching up on thread) A warm welcome 🤗

@Allotment123 that’s great progress to date! 👍👏🏅

@SingaporeSlinky fabulous result to date. Well done! 👍👏🏅

WOW - After having Golden Shot Up a bit, Down a bit, Up a bit weighing Overall I’m down 1.6lbs since 1st January. Not a lot but I don’t have much to go.

Menu
Meal 1 - Omelette & sliced sautéed mixed peppers
Meal 2 - Sea bass, red potato, leeks, carrots, broccoli.
Tea, black coffee, water. Greek yoghurt/blueberries.

Have a great day!

Apologies if I’ve crossed posted

Morning all 🙂

Congrats to all losing & well done to all those who are maintaining a healthy lifestyle - I have to say reading about everyone's exercise & meal planning is very inspiring 🙂

Day 25 - Weds 26th Jan - 9s 2 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.2
BF 23.4

No idea where I've put on 3/4lb overnight 🤨😀 My Body Fat hasn't shifted at all so it could be salt/water weight...

Lots of steps will be taken today so that will help. I think I've overeaten the last couple of days too. The habit of just having a mouthful of chocolate here & a mouthful of something else there has started to creep back in. The interesting thing is that it made me uncomfortable, like I'd let myself down. I think I actually prefer it when I'm strict with myself 🤔

Have a good day all 👍🏻

Welcome @HereComesTheMum 👋🏻

We're in a relatively similar boat I think - I got to a high of 9s 10lb on NYD & am down to around 9s 2lb now, I was aiming for 8s 13lb but am comfortable where I am now. I maintained at around 8s - 8.5s for years but that was in my twenties & I'm 46 now! I find it quite hard to adjust to that mentally 😀 I'm 5' 6" & mainly watching my Body Fat rather than my weight these days, I'm at the lower end of healthy & if I lose much more I'll be classed as underfat.

I find that if you try & lose weight where we are we're often seen as going too far - not on this thread I hasten to add where we are all at different stages & everyone has their own targets & all are welcome. But I know if I mention being 9s & wanting to be 8s something I have received a backlash before now, as if the very notion of wanting to be 8s something is a sin or bizarre!

Anyway, welcome & good luck 🙂

ImALittlePea · 26/01/2022 09:22

Well done everyone on their weigh ins! I do mine Fridays so will update then.

Just off to Sainsbury's for a top up shop and to hunt for meat free protein options to up my intake!

Definitely need to start to build some exercise into my day/week. So hard with the kids, work and current routines though.

Youdoyoutoday · 26/01/2022 09:22

Morning all.

Back to bootcamp this morning and I took my fish oil supplement beforehand, felt quite on it during the session. Knackered now though, currently camped under a blanket on the sofa as I'm freezing so drinking red Bush tea!!

Haven't weighed in though, I know I haven't lost weight plus we keep the scales under DDs cot so I can't use them at 5.30am so I'll wait til Saturday.

Really need to stay out of the cupboards,my snacking has increased over the past couple of days, not sure if I'm just bored, cold or due on or all 3!

@TheRealHousewife and @fallfallfall we get a veg odd box delivered fortnightly so we are having a few more veg dishes, that cauliflower one was really good, I added extra chilli flakes and it came out great, I was almost disappointed that there's not another cauliflower in the next box 😀

Right I'm off to thaw out with a coffee this time!

Happy Wednesday!

Remember it's not all about the scales, NSV are always a win!

galacticpixels · 26/01/2022 09:35

Well done everyone. Not just for losses, but for keeping at it even when it's tough!

January 2022 loss: 5.4lb
Total loss since 2021: 17.8lb

I was very happy to step on the scales this morning and see I was down 1lb since last Wednesday. I had gotten a bit lazy for a few days regarding weighing food and logging calories but I pulled myself back in. Turns out I'm terrible at estimating! Since I'm being so consistent with eating well and exercising, it seems a shame to undo it by guessing portions.

I'm just back from my morning walk . Lunch today is soup, and dinner is spaghetti and meatballs.
