1 stone to lose

Globaluser · 17/11/2021 14:44

Little bit about me:

4 children under 4 (yeah I know)
Last pregnancy was in April this year.
I am 10 stone 2 lbs
Monday I downloaded fitness pal, so I’m counting calories.
I wear an Apple Watch so track my cycling and walking on that.
I like to burn 520 calories a day. That’s my daily goal.

Anyone want to join me on this journey? And swap recipes, of course 😋

Hey can I join in please? I also have had 3 kids in the last 4 years, My last pregnancy was in March and I'm at my biggest I have ever been. I'm 11stone and as I'm only 5ft1 I'm huge.

Also calorie counting, trying to up my water intake and do you tube exercise videos.
Today I have had:
B: a boiled egg and a slice of toast with a mug = 200cals
Lunch : I skipped but did have a curly wurly chocolate bar - 100cals
for dinner I'm planing a chicken pie with baby potato's and veg

Currently at 7,056 steps

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 19/11/2021 16:06

I had a small portion of leftover stir-fry for lunch, and we're having home-made bolognese for dinner - no carbs for me, just the meat and veg on its own. My husband will have the same but with pasta.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 19/11/2021 16:08

I should explain, the basis of my diet is unprocessed food and no refined carbs (so pasta is out because it contains flour but potatoes and fruit are OK). I am not calorie-counting but I am eating mindfully and controlling portion size.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 19/11/2021 16:13

I am 5'4 so I am (at last) in the healthy zone but my 'happy weight' is around 9 stone - I am a fairly rangy build and less than that makes me look gaunt and haggard in the face. I'm a classic yo-yo dieter and my weight has gone up and down more times than I can count in my adult life.

Globaluser · 19/11/2021 16:15

@friedeggandsauce that’s actually amazing
I hope Im able to achieve that.
I know what you mean about saving money, I have clothes packed away in boxes because they don’t fit
And I’m still in maternity jeans 😶

Welcome @DivaRainbow yes I was 11 stone after baby when I weighed myself. Managed to lose 11 lbs very very slowly
Your dinner sounds delicious but your lunch is 😍

@ArblemarchTFruitbat yes I’m the same been, staying clear if too many carbs.
I have it probably only one meal a day, if that .

I’ve had hardly any sweet products, not even the nakd bars I got on Monday. Only 2 bars in 5 days 😁

Globaluser · 19/11/2021 16:19

@ArblemarchTFruitbat have you ever come this far and gone back to your old eating habits? Or is this first time you’ve been able to get to your happy weight?
Im interested to know, because maintaining the weight, will that be hard but easier…? 😕

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 19/11/2021 16:25

Oh, yes, many a time @Globaluser Sad.

I was about 8 st 5 till I started working in a sedentary job at 24. It was up and down all through my 20s and 30s. Lowest was about 8 stone, highest about 15 stone. Then I decided I didn't want to be fat and 40 and got down to 9 1/2 stone for my 40th birthday. Then I had to have surgery at 42 and piled on loads being immobile afterwards ... up to about 14 1/2 stone, lost a bit and got down to 11 stone a couple of years ago, put it back on during lockdown, finally started losing consistently last January.

You get the picture Grin

LUCCCY · 19/11/2021 17:44

I've been doing intermittent fasting so only eating between 11-7. Did 10k steps today and had homemade curry for tea. I also had a chocolate biscuit Grin

Globaluser · 19/11/2021 17:47

@ArblemarchTFruitbat ok so that’s so weird because I am trying to lose weight for my 40th which is in March 😄
Bad luck with the surgery though. Not something that could be helped.
This times different hopefully.

OP posts:
Globaluser · 19/11/2021 17:48

Yes I’ve been trying to eat in that 11-7 window and counting calories and exercising
I hope I don’t burn out and eat the full 90g bag of malteasers in the cupboard 😫

OP posts:
LUCCCY · 19/11/2021 18:04

It's so hard isn't it! We had chocolate gifts for a few people and DP opened it and had a biscuit so I did too Grin luckily could fit in my calories though.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 19/11/2021 18:32

I hope so, @Globaluser. Previously I used to calorie count or do strict LCHF so the diets were quite restrictive. It's my theory that no processed foods or refined carbs will be more sustainable in the long term.

Also, having the courage to weigh myself when I feel I have over-eaten. Previously I went awry because I'd over-eaten, felt too scared to weigh myself and thought 'I'll wait until I have been good for a few days' - only of course I wasn't, and the longer I went without weighing the more things got out of control.

This time I have been weighing regardless, even after my anniversary meal with my husband when the treat of some chocolate ice-cream put on (I am not kidding) 5lb overnight! Of course that was mainly water and it came off in a couple of days. But that's the sort of thing that has triggered a relapse in the past.

Globaluser · 19/11/2021 21:36

@LUCCCY we can enjoy chocolatey stuff if we’ve been good. What might help is having something to forward to and the end of the week maybe?

Chocolate cake or something? 😇

@ArblemarchTFruitbat I actually know what you mean about not weighing yourself till you had few good days, but never having them.
So maybe this is a good tip for you.

On the occasion you haven’t weighed yourself for few weeks and you think you’ve put on weight. Weigh yourself fully clothed and at the end of the day.
It will give you ballpark number of what you weigh and if you’re not happy, start your healthy eating again the next morning and input that weight into your fitness pal or whatever you like using and within days you should see a good decline.

And if you’re happy with what you weight then step on again the next morning and see how much more you have lost after sleep and fully undressed.
Hope that makes sense.

OP posts:
ArblemarchTFruitbat · 19/11/2021 23:37

Hope that makes sense

Oh, yes, very much. I always weigh first thing after a pee but before my morning drink of water so I am well-attuned to the psychological benefit of this.

Globaluser · 20/11/2021 08:59

Hi all, just a small update.
I weighed this morning and I’m 9st 13lbs. Very very happy with that. Hope to have a good weekend and lose some more.

I’m also making a sausage rigatoni with lots of spinach for dinner. It will be accompanied with some salad.
I think I’m going to add 40g of malteasers to my fitness pal for today as well.

OP posts:
ArblemarchTFruitbat · 20/11/2021 09:47

Yaay! You are into the nines! Well done!

The rigatoni sounds delicious. I love spinach.

I weigh every morning - I was 1/4 lb down on yesterday but I've been cycling round the same 1 1/2 lb all week. I'll be able to get some walking done this weekend which might bring it down a bit. It's just so slooooow.

Cherryana · 20/11/2021 15:54

Well done!! Great result today!!

I will weigh myself next Saturday after I have done a week. If I get on the scales too soon I might put myself off!

MarvEll · 20/11/2021 16:05

Ooh can I do. Baby at the end of last year and still so many clothes I can't fit in. I'm short too, so would love to be 8st but would settle for 8.5. Haven't been on the scales for months, but will do tomorrow. I'm in such bad habits with my partner for snacks and treats. I've told him Tesco's don't have our usual crisps in stock and I'm not buying them any more!
Tips for being more active at home? I am so unmotivated, but want to get back into my old jeans as can't afford to buy new big ones!

MarvEll · 20/11/2021 16:05

*can I join!
Typo 🙄

Badhairday101 · 20/11/2021 17:36

I’ll join too please. I’d like to lose a stone and a half so a stone will be a great start, that will take me back to a size 10/12. I’ve been starting every Monday for the last month but not been particularly motivated but don’t want to buy any new clothes in my current size so need to do it now.
I plan on eating 1500/1600 calories a day, doing at least 10000 steps a day, plus exercise 4 times a week. Would like to cut back sugar and processed carbs but plan on just staying within calories and getting my steps in to start.

Globaluser · 20/11/2021 18:00

@ArblemarchTFruitbat did you manage to do some walking today? I went to the playground with the kids but didn’t last very long because there was. Lot of whinging and crying 😢
So now I’m walking up and down the room to burn off the double choc chip cookie I had 😬

Welcome @MarvEll and @Badhairday101

Tips for being active at home… if you don’t have exercise equipment then do what I’m doing, walk up and down the room. I power walk when I rememeber. Whilst you’re walking, look at new recipes you can try, or listen to some music or whatever keeps your mind off the walking.

That’s a good start @Badhairday101 we are here if you need tips or any motivation. God only knows how much you’ve all helped me in just a few days. It helps just reading about other peoples journey for weight loss.

OP posts:
ArblemarchTFruitbat · 20/11/2021 18:14

Yes I did, @Globaluser - but it was cut short because I developed a migraine Sad. Had to sit down in the drizzle till I could see properly (I get a blind spot which is awful - headless people everywhere!). At least I did get some fresh air and exercise albeit not all I had hoped!

Hopefully we will both have more luck tomorrow. Next time, could you bribe your kids with a double choc cookie Grin ?

Globaluser · 20/11/2021 18:34

I did bribe them 😂 but to be fair, they haven’t been very well and had a bad night last night, so I guess they were all tired.

Oh gosh! A migraine? Does dehydration cause migraines? Could it have been that? I’ve been trying to drinking plenty of water. I’ve completely cut out all fizzy drinks.

OP posts:
ArblemarchTFruitbat · 20/11/2021 19:08

I just get them from time to time, never been able to work out why. I don't think I was dehydrated - I'd had a glass of water and several cups of tea.

LUCCCY · 20/11/2021 19:17

@Globaluser Exactly! I've had 3 pieces of dairy milk caramel today which was 96 calories so I'm happy with that.

We're going for a day out tomorrow so will try and get as many steps in as possible.

9st 13! Congrats, I bet it feels good to be into 9 now. Keep on doing what you're doing!

Good luck to everyone else that has joined, it's so nice to see many people doing this too. Smile
