Last few pounds! Anyone ?!

saveahorserideacowboy · 19/10/2021 07:09

I want to shave off the last few pounds. It’s taking ages now !
I’m 5’5 and weigh 8 stone 8. I’d like to get to 8 stone 3.
This last month has started at 8’11 and then varied from 8’11 to 8’7 (increased around period) but averaged this last fortnight at 8’8 so I think I’ve lost a pound or 2 in the last month.
I’m calorie counting on mfp. I also weight train a bit at home but struggling to find time recently.
Anyone with me for the last few vanity pounds? It’s hard to stay on track when progress goes sooo sloooowww near the end!

Hello yes this is me. I am 5ft 9 and 11 st 6

Ive lost 7lbs so far and want to loose another 6lb at least

Because im tall i can carry some extra lbs but i just didnt feel like myself at all.

In order to really ramp it up im giving up alcohol for 3 weeks (my friends wedding is in 3 weeks so thats a good milestone)

I have a banana for breakfast around 10am
A salad for lunch (lettuce raddish cucumber red onion sundried tomatoes)
My evening meal is something weight watchers (last night was asparagus and goats cheese fratata)

I also do gym 3x a week as a minimum

I get what you mean about progress being slow I am finding its two steps forward one back at the minute but this extra push no booze should help. I sabotage myself at the weekends!!! Not because im a massive heavy drinker (eg had half a bottle wine friday and 2 beers sunday) but i snack when i drink!!!

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 19/10/2021 07:35

Yessssss!
I'd love to join.

I'm 5ft 7 and currently 11st10.
I'm aiming for 11st. Problem is my clothes generally fit, so there isn't huge motivation at the moment.

@Sunseeker90- I'm just the same re weekends - I can be really moderate in the week, but give me a glass of wine and suddenly I'm nibbling on anything I can find.

In August I was down to 11st 6, but since then have been unable to keep momentum.
I know that my weight fluctuates +/- 4lbs depending on what is going on, but I'd really like my starting point for that to be 11st rather than 11st 10!!

I have a work trip in 3 weeks that I'm using for a bit of short term motivation. General plan is to cut out snacks and do 16:8, and for these next few weeks not to give myself permission to indulge at weekends!

saveahorserideacowboy · 19/10/2021 12:18

Glad to have you both on board!
When I first started after having my baby (who’s now a toddler) the weight fell off and it’s easy to keep going when you see the scales falling easily. Now it’s like I have one decent big meal and it all goes back on!
I’ve been at 1200 cals for the last 3 weeks, sometimes more but then eat less the next day so it averages out.
I feel like my body is clinging onto the last of the chub 😭

I absolutely feel the same. I may have made matters worse because im going on a big holiday in just over 3 weeks and took that pill notherestrone to change my cycle so i am not on my period when i go...only been taking it for 6 days and feel so bloated and my belly is sticking out. Hopefully when i stop taking it next week itll help as the scales are not going down.

Banana, salad and weight watchers cod curry will be all ive eaten today and topped with a body circuit class I am really determined to get to my goal

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 19/10/2021 16:46

Oh I hate that northerestrone or whatever it's called!! I took it once and felt really weird! Exciting to be going on holiday though :)

Came on here for some motivation - it's half 4 and I could eat a horse. Instead I'm going to go and make a herbal tea Grin

@saveahorserideacowboy how much have you lost so far? It's so difficult to keep consistent, especially with a toddler.

I've actually spent the whole last year slimming down. A series of horrible life events meant I ended up at 13st 6.5, about 1.5stone heavier than I'd ever been before. (When I say 'horrible life events' I actually mean the wine and crisps I ate to cope with it!!!).
Things settled now, so I've actually managed to lose a fair amount- but it means I'm a bit tired of trying to lose weight- I'm really eager just to get to the weight that suits me and then work out how to stay there over the long term.

littlejalapeno · 19/10/2021 17:04

Isnt there something about it being hard to lose weight going into winter as your body is primed to store for the lean times ahead?

Or is that my fake excuse for the stubborn cough half stone that won’t shift? Grin good luck!

Sunseeker90 · 19/10/2021 20:55

@littlejalapeno I often tell myself this!! I feel hungrier in winter the long evenings and miserable weather probably!!!

Ive caved tonight not terribly but had 2 or 3 Blush breadsticks dipped in hummus could have had a whole lot more but resisted eventually

MadameLeotta · 19/10/2021 22:29

@saveahorserideacowboy I’m the same height as you and started at 8st11 on 1st September. I tracked calories & protein using MFP (using amounts worked out via the Macros Inc calculator for protein goal but I didn’t go quite as high with the cals they set, I think they recommended about 1500 but I stuck to between 1200-1300) and lost 6lbs over September. Protein really helped to stop the hunger and I was strict with the tracking. Then in October I’ve done 2 weeks of Fast800, which weirdly I actually found easier than 1300 and I lost another 5lbs, so am now at my goal. I’m gradually upping my calories to maintenance now.

I have wanted rid of this belly weight for as long as I can remember and faffed about trying intuitive eating, no sugar, ‘healthy eating’ etc for years. I’m eating much less sugar now but I haven’t deliberately denied myself it, I aim for mostly nutritious food that I enjoy but with some treats too - I just track everything. I’m finally fitting back into my size 10 jeans and work dresses that had gotten too tight 😀

Coogee · 20/10/2021 09:26

I’m doing this at the moment. I’m not remotely overweight but want to lose some fat for my own satisfaction. I have no idea what I weigh so am judging progress on what I see in the mirror.

Tracking calories using MFP and aiming for around 1400 a day.

EdgeOfTheSky · 20/10/2021 09:57

I’m in!

I had a big health push last year and lost about 18kg over about 11 months. Then got distracted and stalled, almost all my habits are happily adjusted to being healthier and fitter but I had another 2Kg to lose and am just starting to creep up a tiny bit due to boredom eating in the cooling weather.

Quick reset and 2Kg to lose.

Method: stop snacking on slices of cheese, stop eating biscuits, cut alcohol to 3 or 4 nights a week (I am talking about a glass of wine per night, I am not knocking back loads), tweak exercise routine to colder weather rather than just staying in!

I am 169 Cm tall and currently weigh 65.7 Kg. Not fat, but too much round my middle.

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 20/10/2021 14:40

Hey, so fun to have a few of us do this!
@MadameLeotta- seriously impressed with your weight loss this past two months!!

@Sunseeker90 - can't believe that when you 'fail' you go to breadsticks and hummus- I'd've eaten half a big bar of dairy milk without even realising!!

Only two days on it here, but going well. Am enjoying going to bed a bit peckish.

saveahorserideacowboy · 20/10/2021 14:48

I think I’ve decided to try a sort of intermittent fasting to try and get rid of these last few pounds. I’ve noticed if I don’t eat after 5pm I’m fine but once I start eating then I don’t want to stop. So I always have high protein Greek yogurt mixed with protein powder for breakfast. Lunch is usually rice crackers with some meat / cucumber and chutney on.
Small dinner with kids before 5. No snacks. I’m going to try this and sticking to 1000 cals with making sure the dinner is protein based too.

Hello everyone, can I join? It's nice to find a thread where you aren't vilified for wanting to be at the bottom end of the BMI rather than at the top!
There has been some serious weight loss going on here, congratulations to @EdgeOfTheSky 18kgs is loads of weight to lose!

I'm another who is not remotely overweight, I'm 5'8 and do a lot of sport (mainly running) and so my ideal weight is around 9 stone. I went up to 9 stone 10 in the summer which is really chunky for me, I'm now on the way down thanks to cutting out bread and all other refined flour products. I never eat breakfast so do a 16:8 fast every day, but I eat a lot of protein and fat. No calorie counting, just cooking from wholefoods and cutting out wine in the week at least.
This morning I was at 9 stone 6 so still a few pounds left to shift.

ParkingFeud · 20/10/2021 21:00

Would love to join this. Recently managed to go from top of BMI zone (weight had crept up working from home) to mid range but ideally would like to lose a little more to stay safe. I'm half Asian so have read I should be at the lower end for health really. I also have a side job training children's ponies so really need to stay smaller for them. Exercise does really help me but I've been hopeless recently. Maybe this thread can act as accountability and motivation!

EdgeOfTheSky · 21/10/2021 10:46

Thanks @samthebordercollie ! I have kept up my healthier eating / more exercise lifestyle for over a year now and feel so much better for it. So don’t want to let the ‘creep’ creep up on me.

Am down 300g on yesterday.

EdgeOfTheSky · 21/10/2021 10:48

What’s your approach @ParkingFeud?

Your work with ponies sounds great!

Sunseeker90 · 22/10/2021 07:20

Well i can definitely say this notherestrone pill is not helping the cause. Its making me hungry all the time Sad

Yesterday was my first time in ages working from home and it always makes me graze! Definately had a bad day yesterday but back on it today plan on bejng very good over the weekend fingerscrossed I don't even want to weigh myself while im taking this pill i feel too bloated Sad

ParkingFeud · 22/10/2021 07:32

@EdgeOfTheSky

What’s your approach *@ParkingFeud*?

Your work with ponies sounds great!

I started calorie counting but without the intention of doing it long term. That got me in the habit of just little things like one slice of toast instead of two, not endlessly snacking on cheese and crackers while wfh, making sure I had smaller portions than bf etc. And now I've carried on with those habits and if I climb up a bit I'll calorie count for 3 days or so to remind myself how they add up! Still go out to dinner, have a cake in cafes, dessert a few times a week etc. so nothing particularly regimented 😂
EdgeOfTheSky · 22/10/2021 09:13

ParkingFreud Pretty much the same as me. Though my calorie counting has been around totting up a typical breakfast, a two-toast slice lunch v single slice, and being aware of high and low cal items to have with it in order to maintain a balance.

Down to 64.8 Kgs this morning. I think the 65.7 of the other day was a bit inflated due to a couple of high salt days causing water retention.

Good luck everyone!

Shall we have a weekly weigh in for two months?

Is that long enough for everyone to have met their goal?

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 22/10/2021 13:49

Oh that's crap @Sunseeker90, the last thing you want when you're trying to be moderate.

@ParkingFeud and @EdgeOfTheSky, I'm pretty much doing the same sort of thing. I'm not actually calorie counting, most days I'm doing a sort of 16:8 thing, but had breakfast this morning because it just felt like my body needed it- so I'm trying to be flexible rather than too rigid. Definitely don't feel like I'm on a diet, as I'll eat takeaways, or whatever, as things arise, but I'm just being more mindful about it all rather than just grazing.

For a while I've weighed myself on a Monday and a Friday, this has shown me that I definitely lose during the week and gain over weekend, but it's also a bit depressing, because it means most Mondays I'm higher than I was on the Friday (even if I'm lower than the Monday before), so am going to weigh myself less often for a bit.

I've got a work conference in 2 weeks so am being more strict than normal for a bit, as I want to feel a bit more comfortable in my skin for that.

saveahorserideacowboy · 22/10/2021 17:43

I’m down to 8 stone 6 today!! 🥂
I’ve been very strict this week and not eating after 5pm and it’s worked. I think when it’s the last few pounds when at the lower end of Bmi we have to be super strict or it doesn’t work. Now to be careful and not cock it all up over the weekend 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤣

Sunseeker90 · 22/10/2021 21:54

I have been very good tonight no wine no beer....unheard of on a friday night haha!!!

No snacks while watching a movie.

Ill be honest its boring may aswell go to bed Grin

@saveahorserideacowboy amazing!!!! Well done you!!!!!

EdgeOfTheSky · 22/10/2021 22:07

@Sunseeker90, god, that sounds like PMS X10. Just keep eating healthily and once the bloat goes you will really see the benefit!

I can eat quite a lot and still lose weight.
Today:
1 spoon granola, 2 of all bran, a big dessert spoon of full fat Greek yog, a third of a banana and blueberries.

Several oatcakes and other crackers, a chunk of Brie, watercress, tomato, avocado with a drizzle of olive oil

Tom Yum noodle soup (more noodle than soup) with shredded veg and a salmon fillet

Splash of vodka and a mini can of Fevertree ‘naturally light’ tonic
Small glass of red.

Did 45 mins in the gym.

EdgeOfTheSky · 22/10/2021 22:11

Great stuff, @saveahorserideacowboy !

LOL if I had dinner at 5 I would be eating a bowl of cereal at 10, or at 3am. Which is how my weight crept up in the first place, insomniac eating Hmm

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 23/10/2021 15:47

Well done @saveahorserideacowboy!

@Sunseeker90, veryyyyy impressed with your moderation!! My husband is making risotto tonight that requires white wine- I'm not at all convinced I'll not have to have a glass if it's already open.

All going well here. Was out last night for a friend's birthday and enjoyed half a bottle of fizz with dinner, but because I'd planned it and been quite moderate all week, felt great.

I'm going to have a hot choc sauce sundae tonight while we're watching a film, but I'll make mine a small one. Will weigh in on Monday...

@EdgeOfTheSky that food sounds yum!
