Last few pounds! Anyone ?!

I want to shave off the last few pounds. It’s taking ages now !
I’m 5’5 and weigh 8 stone 8. I’d like to get to 8 stone 3.
This last month has started at 8’11 and then varied from 8’11 to 8’7 (increased around period) but averaged this last fortnight at 8’8 so I think I’ve lost a pound or 2 in the last month.
I’m calorie counting on mfp. I also weight train a bit at home but struggling to find time recently.
Anyone with me for the last few vanity pounds? It’s hard to stay on track when progress goes sooo sloooowww near the end!

Happy Birthday @pacific407!

You can definitely tweak down to that weight by Christmas, it’s roughly half a kilo / 1lb a week, so do-able without anything extreme.

Can you walk (and walk and walk) until your injury heals?

I heard this R4 programme on Sunday or Monday, with a scientist looking at the health benefits of standing up. How many more calories we use, and how much better for our hearts, if we stand for 3 minutes every hour.

Sunseeker90 · 03/11/2021 07:43

Happy birthday @pacific407 welcome to the club. Never too late to join i think ill be here for ageeesss

Salad at 1 ish (lettuce raddish cucumber celery red onion roasted peppers and olives only a few olives!)

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 03/11/2021 08:14

Welcome @pacific407

@Sunseeker90- I reckon when you stop taking the Nor pill it’ll drop off! Frustrating for now, but great for December Grin

Feeling a bit recovered after 2.5lb gain over weekend - although it was hard on Monday- wonder if sugar eating begets sugar craving?!!

I’m generally missing breakfast, having something moderate for lunch, moderate dinner, only snacking on fruit in between. A couple of days a week I’m aiming to miss lunch as well, effectively sort of making those days into 5:2 fast days.

I’m trying to follow the lead of my body (rather than just emotions!) and feed it when it needs fuel.

I’m going away with work next week to a hotel where there’s going to be a LOT of food. Eeek.

Thanks everyone!
@EdgeOfTheSky walking is definitely something I've been trying to increase as it's good for my injury and also helps with the calorie burn (although, depressingly, fewer than you might imagine. I do 5k at a decent speed and MyFitnessPal reckons I've burned 80 cals!!)

@Sunseeker90 the stubborn pounds at the end can be so demotivating! This may sounds stupid but could you be in "starvation mode" - it's so difficult to know but i hear stories of people who ended up getting over a plateau by actually eating more, but if I try it I just gain...

@Ohyesthankyouglitter working out when I'm actually hungry, rather than just bored/feeding my emotions etc is the hardest for me. I increased my protein yesterday and i think it helped a bit.

Sunseeker90 · 03/11/2021 10:37

I did have a positive boost today though... i was flicking through some old videos on my phone and found one from earlier in summer and it was a video taken by accident and omg i can really tell the difference and ive lost 7lb but must have all come off my face.

Ive stopped that pill and honestly having the worst period of my life now so hopefully in next day or so ill feel a bit better

EdgeOfTheSky · 05/11/2021 09:54

Fingers crossed Sunseeker I think it will make a big difference.

Pacific I know, the exact calories always seem so low, but during last winter’s lockdown I walked a lot and my weight did come down. I know people say exercise doesn’t cause weight loss because your body just cuts output elsewhere, but I know it is key to me. I think that as well as using the calories during the actual walk it gets your metabolism going for a while afterwards. Also, when I feel fitter I naturally use more energy. I don’t feel tired so don’t bother finding a seat on the train platform. I walk up escalators rather than stand, etc. It’s kind of self perpetuating.

Plateaued for days and days after eating the whole Celebrations tub, but doing well know, down to 64.4 Kg (65.7 at the beginning of this thread with an up spike half way Hmm ).

How is everyone, as the weekend approaches?

Sunseeker90 · 08/11/2021 07:42

Quiet on here! How is everyone

I had a bad weekend as in...too much booze! Bottle of red on sat and bottle of prosecco yesterday Shock

Shock when i stood on scales today and was 11st 3

Last week to focus now.

How has everyone else done over the weekend any goals for the week?

EdgeOfTheSky · 08/11/2021 12:26

I was 100g up on Friday’s weight this morning. Bit of a wine and cake fest over the weekend, a reminder to maintain some discipline during the week for weighing on Friday.

I need to find some lunch and snack options that work in colder weather. Must get some miso soup sachets. I am wfh and needing to keep the heating bill affordable.

samthebordercollie · 09/11/2021 11:28

Hi everyone, how's it going? @Sunseeker90 good luck for your last 3lbs this week Flowers
I seem to be 1lb down on last week, so slowly but surely going down. Would like to see 58-point-something kg on the scales by Friday (when I'm usually at my lightest)

EdgeOfTheSky · 09/11/2021 20:19

Well done @samthebordercollie !

1lb in a week is very good at this ‘last few’ stage.

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 12/11/2021 09:26

Hello all! Well I’ve been on my work trip and am now back. I hadn’t quite reached my goal of 11st when I left (think I was 11.5?) but still felt trim and enjoyed fitting my clothes better.

Now I’m back and am going to delay weighing myself for a while because I’ve eaten a LOT 🤣. Loads of delicious food and wine.

I’m still determined to get down to 11st and I’d quite like to do it before Christmas, which seems like a reasonable target.

EdgeOfTheSky · 12/11/2021 13:16

Glad you enjoyed your work trip @Ohyesthankyouglitter ! Yes, settle down, treat done, you make 11 stone by Christmas and enjoy fitting into your glittery outfits!

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 13/11/2021 08:53

Thanks @EdgeOfTheSky.

Was brave and weighed myself this morning - 11st 7.5

In my head I'd imagined I'd be back up to 11st 10 (where this thread started), so it's encouraging that it's only a couple of lb :)

So, half a stone before Christmas. Is it 6 weeks or so?

EdgeOfTheSky · 19/11/2021 09:31

It’s nice when you get a good surprise. And I think it shows how a good healthy diet / lifestyle day to day has more impact than the times when you enjoy a bit of a feast for celebrations or have a mad lapse! It’s routine ongoing bad snacks and overloading my plate that caused my upwards creep. Stopping toast, biscuits etc made a huge difference.

You can do half a stone by Christmas, yes.

How is everyone else doing?

I am down to 64Kg and for my height and build, and age, I think this is fine, so am reverting to general maintenance sensible healthy eating.

My tummy is still flabbier than I would like but any weight I lose is coming off my bum, so unless I adopt a body builder diet and extreme muscle building regime for my glutes I don’t think that pattern will change much.
