Bloody well done @poorpaws - going from 16 to 12 in 5 months is no mean feat.

I hope I’m still here in 5 months and can post the same!!!

My 40th party (I turned 40 in October) is mid January and I thought I’d try to be under 11 stone by then … but then I crunched the numbers realistically I just don’t think it’s possible but I think 1 stone down could be do-able - which would be 73.3kg/ 11.5 stone (😭) but still a vast improvement on 12 stone 3

I saw your post on navigating Christmas @poorpaws - I think my approach will be to stay on track and perhaps have the day off in Christmas Day only … let’s see how that works out. My birthday party will be 3 weeks later so I don’t want to go totally off the rails.

Purlsandhooks · 29/11/2021 07:43

@Bjarnum be well, and good luck with the hospital appointments. We'll be here waiting when you're back. In a non creepy way..!!

@TalkToTheHand123 welcome! You'll find plenty of support here.

Thanks @Gennz18 ! I don't know my starting weight for sure as I was too chicken to weigh at the beginning! Knew it would be a higher number than I've ever seen on the scales before. I have a feeling it was nearing 12st, now 10st10 and aiming for 10st so I'm happy to be within my stone bracket!! Used to hover around 9st6 pre kid so that would be great to hit eventually but let's not get crazy.
Be kind to yourself and wear what makes you comfortable for now, but know that you are making steps towards chucking those shorts/burning the bastards!

poorpaws · 29/11/2021 08:18

@Gennz18. Oh don’t be too impressed with me, I’m a yo-yo dieter and I haven't tried the size 12 yet, it’s only in my head that they will fit. Also I started this at the beginning of June so six months gone already and I was supposed to have lost it all by Christmas and, still a stone to go 😕
Still trying though so that’s the main thing, I haven’t given up.

SW 12st 2.75
CW: 10 st 13.75
GW: 10 st (by Easter now, not Christmas as planned)

So I’ve gained 2.5 lbs over two days! I did so well and kept to plan for five days then the weekend hit and I was with other people and stayed up much later and this happens. I’m devastated and have now got a hard week to claw back the damage.

Good luck to all those weighing today. It’s getting more difficult as we get nearer to Christmas.

Morning everyone,

SW 13.5
CW 12.9
GW 11.0

Had a bit of a tricky second half of the week, Thanksgiving dinner with some American friends. Who thought to put marshmallows on sweet potato, really? So only lost about 1lb last week, and still no where near trying any zip related clothing.Sad

@Bjarnum hope all goes well with the appointments, fingers crossed poorpaws doesn't have us all doing another superhuman week.

poorpaws · 29/11/2021 08:53

Ooh it’s 2.25 lbs, I added it wrong, I’ve already lost 1/4 lb 😱🥴

OP posts:
poorpaws · 29/11/2021 08:57

@gonelululemoncrazy 1 lb off is great, well done. I think I’ll be doing a superhuman week on my own. I’m certainly going to have to show a lot of restraint this week or I’ll be thrown off our wagon.

slinks back in

I'm so very sorry I have been awol! Sick house, promotion at work, new routine etc... all excuses I know but I PROMISE to post daily!

Today's meals

  • Omelette, skinny latte
  • Homemade curry (with added spinach) and rice for lunch, fruit
  • Chicken noodle soup and lots of veg for lunch
  • Crisps and I had a chocolate out of the Celebrations tin in the office!
Gennz18 · 29/11/2021 17:05

Morning (from the other side of the world)

SW: 79.6kg/12 stone 7 (I only just did the conversion 😱)
CW: 78.2/ 12 s 4

My goal is under 75 by Christmas and ultimately 65kg/10 stone 4 (a weight I used to think was a bit on the fat side 20 years ago 🤣)

Off for a run!

TalkToTheHand123 · 29/11/2021 19:21

I'm hoping now the creme eggs are gone (found a full tin the other day) I should lose some weight.

Went on the treadmill last night also. I'm just doing a few mins on the lowest session as not very motivated. Started to drink tea and coffee again as keep forgetting to drink water regularly. Trying to keep out of the freezer too!

gonelululemoncrazy · 29/11/2021 19:23

@poorpaws - thanks for the encouragement. With all the Xmas stuff coming into the house (agreed to host again) I'm finding it difficult to avoid temptation - really want to stay on the wagon.

@Gennz18 - no decorators so went for a run today; it was bloody cold but worth it.

professionalcockney · 29/11/2021 20:47

Came home from the office with great intentions but DH hadn't made the chicken soup but made beef kofte wraps instead. Failed on 1st day!

I have to be honest with myself and cut down the carbs drastically as I know if I eat carbs I overeat!!

About to chop up a salad to take to work tomorrow!

poorpaws · 29/11/2021 22:14

Hi @professionalcockney so glad to have you back here. Don’t worry about a first day fail, I’ve had loads of them. We are still here, we are still trying, that’s what matters. We will not give up no matter how hard it gets, just keep repeating this.

Good luck for a good day tomorrow everyone, keep trying!

My M&S size 12 stretch jeans have arrived. I can get them on, I can (just) fasten them. I need to learn to breathe in them.

I hope everyone is hanging on in there this close to Christmas celebrations. It’s such a difficult time to try to slim.

I’m off to do an evening food shop and I’m aiming to buy very little. I don’t want to be tempted to anything this week.

I hope you are all doing well.

OP posts:
Gennz18 · 30/11/2021 18:49

Yay @poorpaws!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I’ll be very happy when I fit back into size 12 jeans.

I’ve been doing quite well on a keto (ish) diet - eggs and bacon for breakfast, salad with salmon and avo for olive oil dressing for lunch, some sort of meat and vege and small amount of carbs for dinner. I definitely feel fuller and have better control of my sweet tooth than I did before on my All Bread and Treats diet.

professionalcockney · 30/11/2021 19:38

@poorpaws thank you for the welcome back! And that's great about the size 12 jeans!

Haven't totted up the cals for today but I've had this to eat today -

Cheese toastie

Beef and spinach curry and rice

Cajun chicken breast, veg rice and salad

Mini cheddars, 2 biscuits with tea, some dark chocolate

I need to do a food shop and cut out these carbs!

poorpaws · 01/12/2021 20:55

Good evening everyone

How are you all doing? Have you all done with the present shopping?

I went to Asda tonight and spent over £50 on different Lindt chocolates. They are my DPs favourite (and mine) so I’m making him a Lindt chocolate hamper. It was so difficult tonight as I opened 9 boxes, different flavours, not to eat most of them. I didn’t touch the big chocolate box or the bars but the ones I opened to spread across the hamper looked and smelt divine. My DP is going to be enormous when he’s eaten them (unless I help him 🤐).

Since I managed to gain on Monday I am trying very hard for a loss this week. We had a Covid scare yesterday (thankfully we were both negative) but we’d seen people at close quarters at the weekend who tested positive on Monday. It makes me realise how lucky I am if I only have my weight to worry about.

Have a good week everyone, and as I keep repeating do your best. It’s the worst time of year to slim.

OP posts:
TalkToTheHand123 · 01/12/2021 21:04

They say to not totally deprive yourself of chocolate, but it seems the best way for me, so giving it a whirl (no pun intended) from a day or two ago. Hopefully can avoid at xmas time!

Purlsandhooks · 02/12/2021 11:07

Checking in with some general musings today... Does anyone else use these smart scales that tell you your body fat percentage etc? I do, and noticed my bone density is quite high at 6.8%.. wonder if that makes me naturally more heavy as a result! Anyone else fancy clutching at that straw!?! Hahaa!!
Well done poorpaws for sifting through all those treats without opening any! You have a willpower of steel.
My lovely boyfriend bought me an advent calendar this year. He knows I'm dieting so gave it to me with an apology, bless him!! He's a keeper.

gonelululemoncrazy · 02/12/2021 17:42

Hi everyone! Had a busy week so far with work, thankfully not too much stress forcing me to dash to the garage and demolish the box of Xmas Cadbury's Heroes we have there.

@ Purlsandhooks, I sent out expressed orders that there was to be no sabotage via advent calendar, and unfortunately for once was listened to. Sad

@poorpaws, hoping to get the last of the pressies sorted this weekend. Venturing into the West End for first time in nearly two years - so excited! Haven't got round to writing the cards yet. Oh, and well done on avoiding the Lindt trap - the cause of many of my own personal falls from the wagon.Blush

@poorpaws, oh so tempting !!!!!!

poorpaws · 02/12/2021 21:05

@gonelululemoncrazy I know, I could eat the whole lot tonight. I’m going to bed soon so I don’t eat anything else.

OP posts:
professionalcockney · 02/12/2021 23:01

That hamper looks immense! I would eat it all, I love LINDT!

I had a bad Monday, ok Tuesday, good Wednesday and ok Thursday!

poorpaws · 03/12/2021 07:57

I’m doing quite well this week since I gained last week (yo-yoing yet again). I need to lose 1.1/4 pounds before Christmas and then I will have lost 1 1/2 stones.

I’m still not sure how I’m going to navigate Christmas food. It’s not just Christmas day it’s the whole week to New Year. I can put a lot of weight on in a week.

Stay on the wagon with me everyone, it will be worth it.

OP posts:
Gennz18 · 03/12/2021 19:33

Oh how I would love to be wandering round the West End at Christmas time @gonelululemoncrazy (I’m not a Brit but lived in London for a few years). I used to LOVE going to Selfridges, wandering down Regent St, the windows at Fortnum & Mason - I always used to buy hampers to send back to my family in NZ. For a Kiwi brought up with summer Christmas and BBQs at the beach it was like a movie to me.

Speaking of impending summer 😬 actually it’s already really hot here and we are swimming daily which is confronting in my current state 😂 I’m almost 3kg down - tracking cals (1200 ish - more if I exercise) and carbs (
