Accomplishing August

Octopus37 · 01/08/2021 08:11

Hi all, here's the new thread. Lets all hope for some sunshine in August.

Weighed in at 8st12.75 this morning, down 4.75 pounds in July, but its a very unusual month. Not setting a specific goal as such, but if I lose a couple more pounds would be great, would prefer less stress though.

@LBB2020 no wonder you're hungry, go easy on yourself. @LadyDanburysHat well done on your loss, your walks sound great. Out last night so 8st12.75 this morning. Hope everyone has a good day.

Managed an 8k walk last night, Up this morning to 12st 2.5. But the downward trend is there.

The walking is so needed. Working from home I can easily do less than 2500 steps in a day.

Octopus37 · 19/08/2021 07:49

Thats brilliant @LadyDanburysHat. 8st12.25 this morning. Cannot believe how Autumn like its starting to feel

12st 1.5 today. It is feeling very autumny. Dark by 9pm here. I'm looking into joining a gym for winter as it is so much harder to get out for my walks. And I really need to keep up some exercise.

LBB2020 · 19/08/2021 09:51

Better but not brilliant day yesterday!
DH and I were saying last night how quickly it’s starting to get dark in the evenings!

Octopus37 · 20/08/2021 08:55

Out last night so not a good day, up to 9st0.25 this morning, suspect part of it is water as it was quite a salty pizza I ate.

OP posts:
LadyDanburysHat · 20/08/2021 10:07

Eating out will always cause a temporary gain at least, I feel. Partly because of the sheer amount of food consumed.

Still 12st 1.5 today. Takeaway for dinner tonight, so going to try and eat well during the day. I'm going to have chicken kebab because it's about the healthiest thing, i.e. not fried. It's also one of my favourite foods.

Octopus37 · 21/08/2021 07:35

Felt hungover yesterday (after two pints, not fair), so eating not great. 8st13.5. Off up North today till tomorrow, probably wont eat much up there cause my Dad likes to comment on what I eat, which is't great. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 21/08/2021 07:58

Have a lovely weekend @Octopus37 hope your dad is doing well now?
Hope you enjoyed your takeaway @LadyDanburysHat Smile
We’re having a weekend of getting a few things sorted around the house as the weather isn’t looking good. Have a good weekend everyone x

TheHoneyBadger · 21/08/2021 17:11

No that’s not great octopus. Has he always done that?

I’ve been away for a couple of days. Will weigh in tomorrow to assess the damage

Octopus37 · 23/08/2021 07:30

Hope you've had a good couple of days @TheHoneyBadger. Thanks @LBB2020,my Dad is getting stronger physically, mentally is another matter cause there's been a ot of upset with my Uncle, long story. All a bit stressful. Hope everyone has had a good weekend. Lets hope for better weather this week 8st11.25 this morning, new low, but probably temporary.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 23/08/2021 07:57

Glad to hear your dad is improving physically @Octopus37 and sorry to hear you still have a lot of stress to deal with. Well done on your new low, you’re doing so well Smile
I had a good day yesterday, DH decided he wants to eat more healthily too so we sat down and chose meals for the week and did the online food shop together over the weekend. It’ll be nice to have him on board, he’s great but is always saying that I don’t need to diet or lose weight etc

LadyDanburysHat · 23/08/2021 08:17

@Octopus37 well done on the new low, even if it's only temporary. I hope your Dad continues to improve.

I'm so annoyed with myself. I ended up eating chocolate all day Friday, then had my takeaway. Feeling premenstrual again. Actually going to start logging it as it's happening way too often, and the whole reason for my coil is to not feel like this.

I did go for a guilt walk on Friday night after my takeaway at least. It meant I started Saturday at 12st 3.5. I was good on Saturday and Sunday and walked both days too. Now back to 12st 1.7. I do think there is some water retention too, but hoping to ignore the carb cravings and see that 11at something very soon.

LadyDanburysHat · 23/08/2021 08:18

@LBB2020 I meant to say that it's great news that your husband is on board too. I wish mine would be, it makes it much easier. And he does need to lose weight too.

LBB2020 · 23/08/2021 08:55

Today is a new day @LadyDanburysHat we all have days where we eat all the wrong things (I know I do more than I’d like to admit Grin).
Yes, much easier with DH onboard. He doesn’t need to lose weight but says he feels unhealthy and lethargic so wants to eat more healthy foods!

LadyDanburysHat · 23/08/2021 10:07

Thanks @LBB2020 I'm quite pleased I didn't let it ruin the entire weekend and at least got back on track Saturday and Sunday.

I can understand the lethargy thing. As soon as I started eating better I felt a million times better, before I'd even lost any weight.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/08/2021 14:39

13:3 this morning. August been a bit of a write off. In the family we’ve had 50th, 75th and general we’re all in the same country and allowed to see each other celebrations. I had my couple of boozy days away and now it’s my niece’s birthday celebration tonight.

I suggest Getting Serious in September for next title 🙈

LadyDanburysHat · 23/08/2021 15:04

@TheHoneyBadger I know how you feel. I think my progress in August has been pretty poor, although not quite as bad as July.

I like the next title idea. Although I have another birthday in September, but not a big one with meals out etc.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/08/2021 15:34

Yes, socialising is great but not very conducive to losing weight unfortunately.

I've also sort of shifted my main focus from weight to sorting out the house this month (not that I've achieved masses there either). There's been a lot of reading and sleeping for my school holidays this year and a bit of house sorting and some socialising. My friend who is my gym buddy (and lift) has been super busy with mystery shop and store inspection type work that suddenly really took off so gym has been a rare occurrence too.

Given all of that the damage is not too bad realistically. Once back at work and finally back in our department on the top floor of the main building I'll have more stairs in my life and can do laps up and down stairs and round the school in breaks to try and pick up the steps again at least.

LadyDanburysHat · 23/08/2021 17:09

It's good you have a plan for September at least. I have now filled in the forms for joining the gym as my walks won't really happen in winter. I live in a small village with not a lot of areas of street lights. Hoping to do some weights to tone as well as continue with the fat burning.

Octopus37 · 24/08/2021 08:41

@TheHoneyBadger you've done really well to make as much progress as you have. Socialising is more important sometimes, especially with Covid. Still 8st11.25 here. The Summer holidays have gone so quick this year.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 24/08/2021 09:09

After the past year I think we all deserve to enjoy socialising without feeling guilty!
Another good day yesterday and we took the children for a walk to a park in the next village once DH finished work to get some exercise in! Pushing both boys in the double pushchair definitely feels like exercise these days Grin
Going with my mum to visit my aunt today so there will no doubt be some kind of cake or treat involved (mine are a family of feeders!) but will take the children for a walk again later! Hope you all have a good day, the sun has made a rare appearance here!

LadyDanburysHat · 24/08/2021 10:57

I'm still 12st 1.7 today. I realised as well as one of my DCs birthdays in September I also have a night away with a friend. I agree @LBB2020 that when I get to socialise I am going to just enjoy it because we have missed so much.

Octopus37 · 25/08/2021 08:44

8st12.25 this morning, ate more yesterday. My Son is home tonight which is great.

OP posts:
LadyDanburysHat · 25/08/2021 09:38

Ugh 12 st 2.5 this morning. I did not expect a gain, I have been sticking to my calories and walking plenty. Very disheartening. Trying not to let it make me just eat chocolate and say stuff it.
