Accomplishing August

Octopus37 · 01/08/2021 08:11

Hi all, here's the new thread. Lets all hope for some sunshine in August.

Weighed in at 8st12.75 this morning, down 4.75 pounds in July, but its a very unusual month. Not setting a specific goal as such, but if I lose a couple more pounds would be great, would prefer less stress though.

I feel like I could eat and eat. Don’t know whether it’s the drop in temperature or lack of routine in school holidays or hormones but I’m finding myself hungry earlier in the day which is unlike me.

Ds has gone to have dinner and spend the night with my parents for the first time since Covid arrived and I’m so tempted to order takeaway

TheHoneyBadger · 09/08/2021 19:10

I’m going to resist though. It’s just a waste of money and calories.

TheHoneyBadger · 10/08/2021 06:05

I did resist. 13:2.2 here which is 1.6 above my lowest but could be worse given last weeks excesses.

Hopefully everyone else is managing school holidays better than me!

NutellaEllaElla · 11/08/2021 16:30

Argh all I wanna do today is eat chocolates and biscuits

LBB2020 · 11/08/2021 20:14

Well done for resisting the takeaway @TheHoneyBadger! I’ve had a poorly baby this week which has been hard work (he’s also teething), my plans to eat healthy and exercise have gone out of the window! I have managed to get us out for a walk a couple of times though

TheHoneyBadger · 12/08/2021 08:24

11:3 today. Holidays aren’t working well for weight loss for me and the friend I go to the gym with has been really busy so have barely been this month.

I’ve ordered a very basic electric treadmill. No incline just variable speeds and it will slide under the bed for storage and it goes up to 10kmph which is more than I need. At the gym I tend to do uphill a lot which makes it more of a workout but at home I could use it everyday and just watch stuff whilst walking.

I am going to cancel gym membership as I’m near the end of contract and just don’t get to go enough. 6 months of no gym fees will cover the cost of the treadmill. I can always join again if it’s not working for me but I don’t like being dependent on friend for lifts and feeling like a burden.

It’s only really gym days where I manage 10,000 steps as I live close to work and don’t really enjoy going out for walks around the same area endlessly. When I get the treadmill I’ll make 10k a day my new goal and past experience tells me walking is enough to make a big difference.

Sorry long post. Doing fairly crap on food and drink but I will be back at work and routines in a few weeks so I think I’m just trying for damage limitation in august

TheHoneyBadger · 12/08/2021 08:24

11:3?! I wish. 13:3

Octopus37 · 12/08/2021 19:09

Back from our break, have eaten loads and not walked enough so weigh in tomorrow wont be good, o well. @TheHoneyBadger, the treadmill to have at home sounds like a good idea, I've tried the gym before, but struggled to get there. I agree with August being about damage limitation.

TheHoneyBadger · 13/08/2021 06:41

Hope you enjoyed yourself Octopus.

13:1.8 today. There is technically still time to turn this month around if I can get myself on the straight and narrow.

Octopus37 · 13/08/2021 07:18

It was good to have a change of scene thanks @TheHoneyBadger. 8st13 this morning, think it might show up in a couple of days

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 13/08/2021 09:08

Getting a treadmill sounds like a good idea @TheHoneyBadger, I’d like to get one or a bike but we don’t have the space!
Hope you had a nice break @Octopus37 Smile
We all went down with a sickness bug this week which was really awful but hopefully a bit of a reset for me! We’re just coming out the other side this morning thank goodness!

TheHoneyBadger · 14/08/2021 05:55

Sorry you’ve been poorly lbb!

13:1.2 today. Only 0.6lbs off my lowest earlier this month so a win for damage limitation I guess.

Octopus37 · 14/08/2021 08:30

@LBB2020 hope you are feeling better now, it sucks when you all get a bug. @TheHoneyBadger well done. 8st12.75 this morning, didn't eat well at all yesterday but loads of steps. Picnic today with DS2 and some of his friends and their Mums. Champagne later to celebrate my honourary niece's A level results. Dog walk and work first so steps will hopefully help.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 14/08/2021 09:12

Thank you both, thankfully we all seem to be over it now. My poor DS1 was so stressed out and scared, he’s not had a sickness bug before and didn’t understand what was happening to him. Well done @TheHoneyBadger I’d definitely take that as a win! Sounds like a lovely day you have planned @Octopus37 Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 15/08/2021 07:04

13:1.6 today. Up but not much. Period is imminent so hopefully it’ll drop after that.

Octopus37 · 15/08/2021 08:21

I'm sure it will @TheHoneyBadger. Unsuprisingly up to 9st this morning, despite loads of steps yesterday, hopefully I'll be down a bit tomorrow. Busy day today, work then stuff to organise. My DS and his girlfriend are off to Spain tomorrow, so lots to do.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 15/08/2021 08:24

It’s probably water retention if your period is due so I’m sure it’ll be go quickly!
Yesterday was my first day of eating properly again, didn’t over for it and we went for a walk so not a bad day! Off to a National Trust estate today so lots more walking for me! Have a lovely Sunday everyone x

Octopus37 · 16/08/2021 08:14

Think it was water retention for me as well, 8st12.5 this morning. Big day today, we're going to be leaving for the airport soon

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 16/08/2021 09:06

Hope it all goes smoothly.

I’m scale dodging today as I ended up scoffing McDonald’s of all things last night due to a £10 off your first order with ubereats offer.

LadyDanburysHat · 16/08/2021 15:09

@LBB2020 sorry to hear about the sickness bug. They are the absolute worst.

@Octopus37 good luck at the airport.

I've had a week off work and a week off Mumsnet. I started last week at 12st 2.75. Started this week 1.5lbs up on that. Not bad for DS1s 18th birthday and 3 meals out. I really tried to stick to eating well in between the eating out. There was also a lot of walking.

12st 3 this morning. That 11st something is starting to look ever closer. It is helping with my motivation. Hoping to keep up with the walking as it definitely helps. Partly because if I'm not sitting watching tv I don't want to snack.

Octopus37 · 16/08/2021 16:47

@LadyDanburysHat well done, think walking definitely helps.

Thanks @TheHoneyBadger and @LBB2020, they are flying now, although I think their flight might have been delayed a bit. Luckily we didn't have a long goodbye, but it was still a bit emotional. I've really got used to having DS1's girlfriend around and will miss her. After this, we are planning to send him out there again at the beginning of November and then she is coming over just after Christmas. Time will tell how things pan out though.

OP posts:
Octopus37 · 17/08/2021 07:21

They've arrived safely which is a relief, poor DS2 is really missing his Brother already, they fight all the time when he's here though, go figure. 8st12 this morning, but out later with a friend. Hope everyone has a good day

OP posts:
LadyDanburysHat · 17/08/2021 08:21

@Octopus37 typical brothers. It is always hard saying goodbye to family.

12st 2 today, lowest weight yet. DS2 has a pre season football match tonight, so long walk while he plays. Planning my route now, to ensure I don't make it too short.

TheHoneyBadger · 17/08/2021 11:21

Well done both of you.

I'm still scale dodging. No period yet.

LBB2020 · 17/08/2021 12:11

Well done on the loses! Walking definitely helps!
I had a bad day yesterday making up for not eating much last week Blush
We’ve been at soft play this morning (for my sins Grin) and I’m not sure we’ll get out for a walk this afternoon as it’s wet and miserable out today!
