Accomplishing August

Octopus37 · 01/08/2021 08:11

Hi all, here's the new thread. Lets all hope for some sunshine in August.

Weighed in at 8st12.75 this morning, down 4.75 pounds in July, but its a very unusual month. Not setting a specific goal as such, but if I lose a couple more pounds would be great, would prefer less stress though.

I went out for lunch with my sister yesterday and have my Dad's 75th birthday meal tomorrow so this week is a bit of a write off really. Also seaside got cancelled and haven't been to the gym.

Not getting on the scales.

I did however manage a decent nights sleep for the first time in ages.

Octopus I'm not sure - initially I felt I was still having hot flushes but they were less intense and it was incredibly hot anyway. Now I'm not at school it's harder to assess as they usually come on when I'm flustered or rushing about or changing temperature (eg. walking to work then standing still in a classroom/staffroom or going from cool outside to warm inside).

I think it will take September to really assess how it's going when I'm back in usual routine.

NutellaEllaElla · 05/08/2021 17:25

I've been craving snacks out of boredom today so my calorie count will be higher than other days this week but still good thanks to Fibre one cake bars and mini stroopwaffles and mini Reese's! No walk this evening as it's raining and due to thunderstorm too but I did get an hour walk in this morning at least.

LadyDanburysHat · 05/08/2021 18:52

My eating has not been great still, until the past couple of days where I have managed to stick to my calories. I have been walking a lot, so enough to make sure I haven't gained. It's DS1s 18th next week, and I would like to have my stone by then, which is only 1.75lbs away.

NutellaEllaElla · 05/08/2021 21:10

I feel like i've screwed up. I feel utterly exhausted and was dizzy when I stood up. I've had low iron levels before and think that might be happening again. I do have Spatone in my OJ every morning and that feels like it has been helping but first thing tomorrow, i'm off to buy broccoli and spinach. I do have cabbage in my chicken soup and I had chorizo in my dinner yesterday but maybe it's not enough and maybe my calorie intake was too low.

TheHoneyBadger · 06/08/2021 01:15

Could be worth a blood test - iron, thyroid etc and it's always worth taking vitamin d and c - I always forget to take c but I have a d deficiency so I remember that.

NutellaEllaElla · 06/08/2021 06:02

My last blood test was in June, after taking Spatone and adding more veg in my diet, it was just about within the normal range and GP was happy. It's such a PITA getting GP appts and they didn't seem bothered about underlying reasons for it being low.

Octopus37 · 06/08/2021 07:25

@NutellaEllaElla its worth getting a blood test, know what you mean about getting GP appointments etc though. Hope you feel better soon. Do you eat a lot of red meat, might be worth doing that. I had low ferratin 8 years ago and started eating meat after being veggie for 23 years, I have been ok since.

@LBB2020 thanks, things are still stable, just feel bad for my Sister. Could do with him going in somewhere for a couple of weeks, but she hasn't talked to him about it. He can be very stubborn and will only do things on his own terms. Sorry, I know that sounds harsh.

8st13 this morning.

NutellaEllaElla · 06/08/2021 07:33

I'm not veggie and some weeks are more meaty than others.
2lbs off fav number. Feeling a bit better this morning.

LadyDanburysHat · 06/08/2021 09:26

Low iron is awful. i had it with every pregnancy, and other times too. I tend to sit at what is classed as just about healthy. I couldn't donate blood last month as it was too low. I think this must have been because I've been trying to lose weight.

A couple of days of being good and I'm down to 12st 4.75 today. Gives me the motivation to continue just seeing that half pound off.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 06/08/2021 09:45

Hi everyone, just popping on to say hello. People seem to be doing super Star

TheHoneyBadger · 06/08/2021 10:28

Hi HeyGirl - how are you doing? Hopefully happy and feeling more relaxed about food.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 06/08/2021 10:50

Well the eat what you want strategy worked until it didn't! Felt absolutely dreadful, headaches, low energy etc so I've gone back to sensible eating now and feeling better. Weight loss not on the agenda tho as it's a work in progress around that all important healthy relationship with food and good consistent habits. I almost feel allergic to sugar so hope it won't come calling. Delighted to read all the successes here!

TheHoneyBadger · 06/08/2021 11:30

Oh good I'm glad you've stayed focussed on the most important bit. Slow and steady for me and this week a bit of a write off. I think we all did some reflection after you left and rethought goals and stuff. Currently happy to just keep slowly chipping away at it and avoid extremes.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 06/08/2021 13:25

Slow, steady and moderation always good. Well done! Hope you're enjoying the break. I'll 'call in' again Smile

NutellaEllaElla · 06/08/2021 21:29

@LadyDanburysHat iI wonder if my low iron is related to me losing weight too. No idea how really though. I haven't been turned away from donating blood yet though.

Good to see you Heygirl.

Octopus37 · 07/08/2021 07:55

Great to see you @HeyGirlHeyBoy. Hope you are ok. 8st12 yesterday but didn't eat properly yesterday, lots of crisps, chocolate croissant, chocolate, two biscuits and a cereal bar and a pint and a half. Nevermind will eat a bit more normally today. Got to stay in cause someone is coming to tile the bathroom, so probaly wont manage many steps.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 07/08/2021 08:33

You're doing amazing octopus, massive well done! I'm OK, in a much better place (finally) now so long may it last! I'll duck out again now, hope it's OK to say hello!

TheHoneyBadger · 07/08/2021 08:41

I'm a couple of pounds up after this week. Official weigh in tomorrow so only did a quick hop on and off the scales rather than check the actual exact number. Enough to tell me I'm at least a couple of pounds up but not too disastrous.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/08/2021 08:43

I'm going to the gym this morning so that's something. Then I need to reign in the eating and drinking. This week was a lunch and drinks out with my sister then dinner and lots of drinks last night for my Dad's 75th.

Octopus37 · 07/08/2021 11:23

Hope your Dad had a good Birthday @TheHoneyBadger

13:3 definitely a flop of a week but I was expecting that.

Hopefully I can repose it as quickly as it was gained.

Octopus37 · 09/08/2021 10:12

8st12.75 this morning. Wont be worrying too much for the next few days. Going away later, back on Thursday night. Hope everyone has a good week x
