Good grief, I’m sure the year is speeding up! July has passed so quickly!

This is a space for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will reap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a healthy cycle.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. Personally, I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I try to not overload on carbs etc, include a protein source with most meals and aim to glug enough water. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. I’ve weighed daily at times and weekly at other times. Do what works for you.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Welcome @UnLunDun

@Puffalicious hello

@fallfallfall I'd love to grow bean sprouts too. Dh has just picked our first crop of potatoes and I felt really emotional Blush. We are having them boiled with butter and mint or roasted with olive oil and garlic salt.

Thank you @Juno231 Flowers. DH seems bit better today so I'm focusing on that. We have had a lovely morning and have made some inroads in some jobs so all good. Well done on your exercising and enjoy your time with your friend.

Thank you @QueenMabby. I'm so relieved and happy for dd. She's had a rotten year as most have but has also had extra difficulties on top so to do as well as she has , couldn't have gone better really, then it makes it even more special. Well done on your loss!

I went running. My 223rd. I've knocked 36 seconds off my previous best 5km time (I ran 8.15km today) and while I'm up 0.6lbon last Tuesdays weigh in I'm focusing on the fact I've lost 3 stone 1.2lbs in total.

SunshineCake · 11/08/2021 12:32

Ah missed the biggest post! @TheRealHousewife well done on your 2lb off!

Crazzzycat · 11/08/2021 12:58

Oh yes @TheRealHousewife, congrats on your 2 lb loss! Not sure how I missed that 😳

fallfallfall · 11/08/2021 14:17

@TheRealHousewife, two lbs is a lovely number! Well done.
I’ll make new sprouts in a couple days and post photos.

CescaCesca · 11/08/2021 15:58

Reporting back, our home grown potatoes were delicious. I baked them in the oven with olive oil and garlic salt and they were so nice. They tasted better than the shop ones !

joysmoy66 · 11/08/2021 18:35

Therealhousewife so pleased your test is negative and 2 lb loss is amazing well done!!
Glad your DH seems a bit better and your daughter is doing well sunshine and well done on the runStar
That hummus looks delicious cesca😋
I had a bit of a bad day and had a couple of biscuits that were left from hols😬gave the rest to the kids so all gone now and I know it's hormonal cravings. Did extra long workout so not stressing over it to much. My sleep has been awful over the last few days so drinking camomile tea and hoping tonight will be a better night 😬

CarolinaWeeper · 11/08/2021 19:32

Well done @TheRealHousewife on your 2lb loss, that's brilliant.

Just checking in with my meals today....been a bit random but within my calories.

B: skinny latte
L: prawn sandwich with lighter than light mayo. Apples and strawberries.
D: sausage roll with huge salad of carrot, cabbage, sweetcorn, lettuce and red pepper.

fallfallfall · 11/08/2021 20:00

@SunshineCake, tell me more about your garden. what other goodies are under or above ground?

Graphista · 11/08/2021 21:57

@fallfallfall thank you - only me here though

@UnLunDun happy to help. I've nothing to offer these days except my time. Pancreatitis is known to be one of THE most painful conditions. Chronic is not solely alcohol related there are other factors too, genetics can play a part too.

@Juno231 - I am enjoying happy scale - weigh in tomorrow so be good to see how the graph is then

@QueenMabby thank you. Dd has had a rough few years so it's nice things are turning around for her

Well done on getting a loss!

I'm resisting the chocolate honey cos I think it would be lethal for me!

@Crazzzycat I've got 1600 cals set as my upper limit. I'm occasionally a wee bit over but most often about 100-200 cals under

@TheRealHousewife thank you for the compliment on the menu. Well done on the 2lb loss!

@SunshineCake glad dh doing a little better. Home grown always tastes better I've not had a garden or even a decent windowsill for years though!

Meal 1 - scrambled eggs on toast

Meal 2 I've not had yet! I've halloumi to use up though so off to browse t'internet for ideas

SunshineCake · 11/08/2021 22:04

So far @fallfallfall we have eaten spinach, parsley, a spring onion and the potatoes. The dog has had more parsley than me as I put it in her biscuits. I'm so pleased. Still feel tears when I think about our spuds, I fed us tonight and it turns out I'm not useless after all!

SunshineCake · 11/08/2021 22:07

I am also growing parsnips, leeks, chives and courgettes but a snail had my first courgette and so far no more have appeared. Next year I'm going to try carrots and maybe a berry.

swampytiggaa · 11/08/2021 22:22

Hellooo! I’m back from my moms 😊 done 10k steps over 2 days and eaten the biggest portion of fish and (battered) chips I’ve had in a long time. Hadn’t seen her for 2 years due to pandemic.

Run in the morning I think but tbh I really don’t care if my weight has shot up because it was worth it 😊

swampytiggaa · 11/08/2021 22:23

My mom and my chippy tea 😂😂

@SunshineCake, are your zucchini flowering at all?? If so, tickle your finger inside the male flower and then onto the female flower. This will help fully fertilize your zucchini. Do a quick google and then check out your plant, the boy and girl bits are ease to tell apart.

SunshineCake · 11/08/2021 22:26

I did have a huge yellow flower but then it seemed to vanish. I will check tomorrow. Thank you @fallfallfall.

Lovely photos @swampytiggaa. all worth the calories!

swampytiggaa · 11/08/2021 22:30

Seriously the chips were amazing. Mom’s first chippy tea in about 2 years so she thoroughly enjoyed hers too 😊 I couldn’t eat all of mine mom had the mini version

fallfallfall · 11/08/2021 22:31

@swampytiggaa

QueenMabby · 12/08/2021 07:29

@swampytiggaa - that chippy tea looks yummy. Think I’d struggle too. I love chips but they do not love me!

@TheRealHousewife - well done on your loss - more 🐆 than 🐢 this week!

@SunshineCake - am most envious of your home grown potatoes. My parents grow loads in their garden but they live hours away so I don’t get to sample very often!

Not much happening here. My dd is going away for a weekend residential tomorrow (she’s 12) so she’s baking cookies this morning for her “tuck box”. I’m sure one or two will be sampled. 😉

swampytiggaa · 12/08/2021 07:35

Well I meant to run this morning but I’m still in bed and can’t be bothered 😂😂 walk later for definite 😊

SunshineCake · 12/08/2021 07:47

I decided not to run @swampytiggaa as my knees were sore but then was awake early -GCSE results day - so did consider going but I'm also still in bed as decided I'll do the bike while dh takes ds2 to school.

swampytiggaa · 12/08/2021 07:54

@SunshineCake hope gcse day goes as you wish 💕

Would love a bike or elliptical again for some low impact cardio. Don’t have room tho ☹️

I’m still a bit tired from a busy couple of days so I’m going with it 😊 I’ll get a walk in today for definite tho 👍

UnLunDun · 12/08/2021 07:58

@Graphista yes sorry, didn’t mean to imply chronic was alcohol-caused, more that I don’t want to risk turning chronic myself by having any if that makes sense, it may well turn chronic anyway but I am hoping diet will have positive impact.

Today’s plan: gardening, need to weed after all our recent rain and dig out for a new one hedge. Should do me some good but I’ll be aching later! Food is B - Berries & F/F yoghurt, L - mushrooms & tomatoes on dye rye toast, no butter, D - leftover curry. Portions still vey small, can’t manage any more.
Lost 4lb this week, not surprising as don’t feel great.

swampytiggaa · 12/08/2021 09:04

Well that was a surprise! I don’t appear to have gained over the last couple of days 😊 woohoo 🥳

SunshineCake · 12/08/2021 09:44

Up a pound. What an idiot for weighing. I need to eat more in the day as I had crisps at 8 last night.

Did 20km on the bike. Ours is in the garage Couldn't settle. Wanted to shower to be ready when ds2 gets home. So far all I know is he can stay at school for sixth form and do the A levels he wants. Woo hoo!

Well done on not gaining @swampytiggaa!

I feel disheartened a little but I know I've done well so far.
