Hello and a warm welcome to new & established members. July already! Lockdown easing and an end in sight! Hallelujah! Let’s embrace the summer and extending freedoms feeling like our best selves.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will reap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a healthy cycle.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. Personally, I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I try to not overload on carbs etc, include a protein source with most meals and aim to glug enough water. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. I’ve weighed daily at times and weekly at other times. Do what works for you.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

You're only watching mission impossible now? I'm simultaneously shocked and envious - great films, envious you're getting to watch for first time

veryblearyeyed · 10/07/2021 17:03

I’ve been doing my virtual Pennine Way (thanks again @swampytiggaa), now done 6.3 miles. It’s time consuming, so I’m trying to get one DC to come with me each time for for some one-on-one time.

SunshineCake · 11/07/2021 07:30

Morning all. I'm rather tired today as didn't get home until nearly 1am and I've still woken up at half six and can't get back to sleep. We had the most amazing day. Even without seeing any tennis I was loving just being there. I really want to go again. DH looked a little panicked when I asked if we could go again today Grin. He's in luck. Seems they are all sold out for today. Sad. We had strawberries and cream which were lovely and I thought were a good price. Dh felt not really but he's thinking about what we pay in the supermarket. We took a picnic and had it sat on a bench and in between matches in Centre Court. We waved to Catherine and William but they didn't wave back. Probably as they couldn't see us I don't think Grin. I'll shut up now but honestly, if you ever get the chance to go, grab it. 🎾

In other news I'm taking the weekend off for running and being careful with food. We're having our anniversary dinner tonight with 🍾and then it will be crisps for the football ⚽️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Hi SunshineCake Smile That sounds like a fab day. Star You sound like you really enjoyed it. I hope you have a wonderful dinner tonight, and of course, celebrating the football! Football
I went to bed last night at 9.30pm, I was tired. Got to sleep but woke at just gone 3am and have been awake since. Confused Oh well, at least I got all my exercises in early. Hope everyone is having a good day?

Menora · 11/07/2021 09:31

I am struggling to be honest, despite eating well and exercising plenty this week, I have put ON 2lbs

I worked out my TDEE properly and it looks like I can eat 1700 a day, I always eat about 1400-1500 so I should be in a deficit? I don’t get it.

joysmoy66 · 11/07/2021 09:48

Sounds like a great day sunshine! Enjoy your dinner tonight and the football!

Puffalicious · 11/07/2021 13:26

Sounds brilliant Sunshine did you actually get to Centre Court to see the final? It was a great match. I'm buzzing for this afternoon - go Berrettini!🎾👟.

I've been a bit snacky and not sticking to things v well, especially my IF. Need to get back on track! Slept until 12noon today! I do love my sleep but that's the first in a long time. I must have needed it. DH was up at 8 with DC, God love him. If Carslberg did men...Grin

SunshineCake · 11/07/2021 14:36

@Menora you need to eat the 1700 you've been allocated. Logically many of us think we would lose weight if we ate less than usual, not much, etc but it doesn't work like that.

Thank you @joysmoy66 and @73kittycat73 hope you feel better soon.

Yes @Puffalicious. We were at Centre Court and saw three finals - ladies singles, ladies doubles and gentlemen doubles.

I'm shattered as didn't get to bed until after 1am and woke at half six but I'll power through and hopefully sleep tonight.

Graphista · 11/07/2021 16:51

@SunshineCake glad you had a great time sounds amazing! Hope you have a great time today too and yes, enjoy the bubbly and food.

I had a late night even by my standards as I was finishing off a craft project that's a gift and I was soooo close to a finish I just wanted to get it done

@Menora I'm struggling to stay on track too I was so disappointed with that STS I am struggling mentally to stay on track. The gains I had before I expected as I knew I'd not been sticking to plan but the STS honestly felt like a kick in the teeth!

In addition I'm feeling really hungry and I don't know why and that's making me give in to the snack monster! I'm still under 1600 cals per day but it's being bloody hard to stick to

73kittycat73 · 11/07/2021 16:53

Well, I've well and truly fallen off the wagon today, the day before weigh in! I felt really bad earlier, really bad hot flushes that left me drenched, then cold and shivers and was freezing. Felt weak and light headed and dizzy too. Thought it might be blood sugar so crammed in about 1000 calories of chocolate and sweet food. It made a bit of a difference but not much. Went for a lie down and feel a little better but still ill.

SunshineCake · 11/07/2021 17:02

I think it is fine when some days we need more food. If you think logically, if we all stuff our faces tonight we aren't going to be 4lbs heavier tomorrow just as if we are really good for two days we aren't going to be loads lighter on Wednesday. Things take time. So if you have days where you are really hungry there will be a reason. Been more physical, hormone related, so just go with it but take the extra calories as much as you can from the good stuff and not just eat five choc ices! Have one but also lots of protein and vegetables. Just a thought.

I have a really unusual pain in my head at the moment so if that ^ makes no sense, that is why.

SunshineCake · 11/07/2021 17:03

@73kittycat73 that post wasn't an attack at you. I hope you feel better soon. I just felt I'd read a few posts where people were struggling and / or had been needing to eat more.

73kittycat73 · 11/07/2021 18:24

Thanks SunshineCake, that makes perfect sense. Smile I hope you head feels better soon. Did you watch today's Wimbledon finial? I won't post just in case anybody is avoiding spoliers.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 11/07/2021 18:25

I definitely agree @SunshineCake. Yesterday I was feeling really run down. Just tiredness of 2 small children and general life but I ended up eating far too much but some days you just have to don’t you. I remember someone saying on another thread that one day of ‘bad’ eating won’t do any damage long term to an otherwise healthy diet just like one day of healthy eating wouldn’t do much if your diet was unhealthy the rest of the time. I remind myself of that on days like yesterday.

Today I’ve had a McDonald’s for dinner but I’m within my calorie allowance so I regret nothing Grin I weighed yesterday and I’m down 1lb on last week so I’m 1lb away from getting back to what I was before my holiday.

Hope you’re feeling better soon @73kittycat73

@Menora sorry to hear you are struggling. Very frustrating but sounds like a fluctuation, especially if you’ve been exercising I think your body can retain water to repair your muscles so might be why. Hopefully will drop off soon.

Glad to hear you had an amazing time at Wimbledon @sunshinecake. Sounds like a wonderful day, I would love to go one day.

SunshineCake · 11/07/2021 18:37

I watched most of the final and was glad we went yesterday and not today. Now gearing up to watch the football and trying not to get too stressed. Still have a headache.

73kittycat73 · 11/07/2021 18:41

Thank you MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat, and congratulations on the lb lost and good luck losing the next one. Smile
Enjoy the football *SunshineCake8 I hope it's not too stressful!

73kittycat73 · 11/07/2021 18:41

Sorry SunshineCake

joysmoy66 · 12/07/2021 08:00

Ok I've eaten terribly again this weekend but I'm back on it today, I won't weigh as totm so will wait until Friday. Need to maintain or drop a pound by end of month for a wedding. Will do some extra exercise this week to try and limit damage done this weekend. Writing down for accountability. Hope you are all ok this morning Smile

Crazzzycat · 12/07/2021 09:55

I’ve been on holiday for the last week, so not posted much. My goodness, so many posts to catch up on! I hope you’re all doing well.

I’m weighing in at 83.5 kg this morning, which is a 0.5 kg/ 1 lbs loss for me. Pleased with that, especially as I was on holiday AND had two birthday celebrations (not mine!)

What I’m not so pleased about is that I’m starting to feel a bit down about the rate of my weightloss. It’s ridiculous, because I’ve had such an easy ride so far, with losses every week since I started back in March. I don’t know, it’s like I’m expecting that loss to stop any minute and feel like I need to loose as much as possible before that happens? It makes no sense!

Anyway, I’ve decided to hide the scales until the end of the month and I’m planning to set myself some new goals that focus on exercise and nutrition, not weight. I might also buy some new clothes, as 90% of what I’m wearing is at least one size too big. That’s not going to help me feel like I’ve made much progress.

Sorry that’s so long. Just trying to get my head around this little wobble! 😄

73kittycat73 · 12/07/2021 10:50

Felt really ill yesterday. Still feel a bit off today so cancelled yoga.
Binged last night....Two small tubs of Haagen Dazs, a double chocolate muffin and quite a few Celebrations chocolates. sad
Weighed in today. I don't know if last nights binge had any impact on it but...I lost 2lb. (Now 11st 3.2lbs) I hope I don't sound sound insulting to anyone but I'm disappointed in that. Hardly a slither of chocolate has passed my lips these last two weeks and I exercised every day. Makes my goal weight (10st) seem so far away...I might weigh myself again tomorrow after being 'on plan' today and see if that makes a difference? Now the stats, BMI of 25.2 (So close!) under bust stayed the same, 36", hips an inch off now 41", and waste 2.5 inches off down to 36" and now within NHS guidelines.

Puffalicious · 12/07/2021 10:56

I'm with you on the needing accountability joysmoys. I was very good yesterday then couldn't cope with penalties and cracked open the chocolate ice cream tub! Bad enough but it was soooo late, so bang goes IF hours. Don't know if it's summer holidays affecting me- no routine of work?- but I'm really struggling to stay focused.

Puffalicious · 12/07/2021 11:00

PS Feeling very upset for all the England football fans. I thought it was awful seeing the scenes of devastated players and Gareth Southgate. My heart went out to the 3 young players who missed penalties. So sad. And I say that as a staunch Scotland fan. I'm sure down South is a very subdued, sad place to be this morning. It really is terrible.Flowers

joysmoy66 · 12/07/2021 11:09

Puff I know what you mean about no routine-makes things harder to stick to for sure. I fell into the biscuit tin yesterday and ate about 10Blushbut all my favourites have gone and I won't replace them! Been for a walk this morning. Salad for lunch and workout this afternoon so hopefully will even out!

SunshineCake · 12/07/2021 12:35

Good luck @joysmoy66. I'm sure you'll achieve your goal.

I don't get why you are upset @Crazzzycat but that doesn't matter. I'm sad you are. You've done so well and not many people will have achieved a loss every week for months. Keep going. You are doing great.

Hope you feel better @73kittycat73. A 2lb loss in a week is very good!

It's fine @Puffalicious. The ice cream is calorie free to make up for our not winning 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.

I went running this morning as took the weekend off. Did well but haven't lost any weight. Not bothered. Will keep going.

Puffalicious · 12/07/2021 16:43

Calorie free ice cream? Now that's something I could get on board with.🍦
