Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 June already! What a start to meteorological Summer; stunning weather and easing of Lockdown.

Firstly a massive Thank You to @SunshineCake who has done a stellar job in taking charge of May’s thread 🙏🌟❤️. I was happy for sunshine to carry on but she kindly invited me back to start the new month, so we agreed to make it a joint effort. (I’m still battling ill health and will post when I can).

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

@Ionacat power is back in, thankfully. It came back last night but one poor household is still out. I have to go to the shop and it would be a nice walk. I suggested to dh last night I'd walk there and then realised that won't work as can't carry petrol home for the car, part of the reasons for going Blush.

at @Graphista so very kind offer. Thank you. I'm not sure I'm brave enough yet.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/06/2021 14:03

@fallfallfall thanks. I like the idea of that! @SunshineCake, glad your power is back.

Graphista · 06/06/2021 22:22

You're welcome @SunshineCake

I'm on track I think weigh in will show if true

FearlessFairy · 07/06/2021 08:04

Yoga workout this morning

But having a pizza lunch with a friend today, so trying to be really "good" with the rest of my day & calories.

Happy Monday everyone!

swampytiggaa · 07/06/2021 08:34

Morning everyone!

My plan for this week is to hit 15k steps every day (at least) run 20 miles and do some weights.

I’m going to cut out biscuits crisps and chocolate and up my water 😊

CocoaMojo · 07/06/2021 09:07

Morning all. Feeling a bit disillusioned this morning. Haven't made any progress in weight loss for nearly 3 weeks and just a bit fed up. I've had about 3 days 'off plan' but other than that have stuck fairly solidly to calorie counting. I just seem to have stalled.
Went to a BBQ yesterday but only had 1 beer and 1 burger (admittedly in a bun), a tiny amount of potato salad and a load of green salad and ate very little the rest of the day.
I think at this point when I've tried to lose weight in the past I've given up. Just need to try to keep going and remember it's long term. I just find it a bit tiring when I'm thinking about food/steps/weight loss so much of the time.
I've been a bit hit and miss with IF so really going to try to stick to that this week and up my water. Exercise goals for week- 2 runs + 1 pilates + 1 ballet/barre.

CocoaMojo · 07/06/2021 09:08

@SunshineCake hope you are doing ok today as sounds like you have been having a tough time. Have some Flowers

FearlessFairy · 07/06/2021 09:20

@cocoamojo
It's so disheartening when that happens I have definitely been there.
Try remember all your efforts are going towards your overall health too! If your main focus is being healthy, the weight loss will soon follow! You got this!!

SunshineCake · 07/06/2021 09:27

Keep going @CocoaMojo. I had over three weeks with no loss, I might even have gone up a bit, but then when I lost it was a good one. Don't give up. You keep going and we've all got you.

I am going through a tough time with DD. Currently doesn't want to talk to me. She's been gone ten days and we've only given her her £5 a week pocket money. I've said to dh can we just bung her some money, he's not given her any as she was rude and didn't say please when we were discussing money, as I'm struggling with feeling I'm failing in my duty as a parent.

I was feeling disheartened as a lot of my 11.29km run this morning had quite a lot of 7min km and it is less than the 13 km I did the other day. Dh says it doesn't matter.

Cat is poorly. Dog is poorly. But my new size 12 shorts from last year and a lot too big.

Have a good day everyone. Have some extra salad and keep up the water. It feels like it's a hot week coming.

SunshineCake · 07/06/2021 09:37

I should have added that I think M&S do vanity sizes as there's no way I'd get into a ten.

swampytiggaa · 07/06/2021 10:18

@SunshineCake your husband is right about the running. Just enjoy it and don’t worry about times or distance 💕 be proud of what you can do and don’t pressure yourself as it sounds like you have a lot on your plate at the moment 💕

I would say your husband is probably right about your daughter too 💕 I have had lots of issues with my eldest we’re currently NC as it’s better than the abuse I was getting from her. Anytime you want to offload either about children or running please feel free to message me.

It all gets easier 💕 much love to you

SunshineCake · 07/06/2021 10:29

Thank you @swampytiggaa. I probably will take you up on that offer. I had a shitty childhood and don't speak to parents. Mother wants to. You may regret your offer. At least it will take my mind off other stuff stressing me HmmSad.

swampytiggaa · 07/06/2021 10:32

I’ll be your mom 💕 probably old enough to be! Happy to listen and swop tales of woe and encouragement as required 💕

SunshineCake · 07/06/2021 10:55

😢 thank you.

I've needed a mum all my life and if is so sad for me that a lady who looked after me as a kid, wanted to keep me, wasn't able to and is now hundreds of miles away. It is lovely we can talk though.

TheRealHousewife · 07/06/2021 12:15

Good Afternoon Lovelies

Firstly a massive hug to @SunshineCake . I wish I was near you and I’d give you a hug in rl! You’ve done brilliantly in your life. The changes you’ve made to your health/wellness/fitness are phenomenal! Don’t forget that! I wish there was something I could say to help inflate your self esteem. Sorry to read about your dog, cat and dd, yet you’re still holding it all together. That takes strength! You’re awesome Sunshine and you bring joy & light to a lot of people, including all on these threads 🌟❤️🥇👏🏃‍♀️🔥 and on behalf of all of us I thank you 🙏.

… and for the rest of my post …

A warm welcome back to @HalfShrunkMoreToGo. It’s lovely to see you. Once you’ve rebalanced your blood sugars the cravings will subside. When I’m trying to get back in the zone I up protein, water and cut down on refined carbs. You’ve got this!

Warm welcome @Graphista. I’m similar to you in that I have thyroid issues and a progressive physical disability. Also I’m petite in height so every lb gained shows. Those factors totally make it harder to lose and sustain changes; but ultimately addressing health and weight are the 2 things that help us live our best lives. In the past I’ve self soothed with food, but now I’m further down the line in my journey I’ve learnt better coping mechanisms and found more helpful none calorie activities. I like to get out into the garden, I can’t do what I could do but I’m satisfied that I do what I can iyswim.

@Avocadorable thank you! Well done on your awesome 4st loss 🌟👏👍

@1stJuneNewStartBoom hope urea feels better.

@Crazzzycat I hope the leg is feeling better. Yoga is great. I’ve sometimes done There are loads and they are free.

@Doilooklikeatourist a warm welcome. Given your stats 7lbs is doable for June if you maintain your consistency. Do it for you! This time next month you’ll be glad you did. Good luck!

@fallfallfall Great to read your update. My OH bought me an Apple Watch earlier this year. I’ve set it to the lowest duration of exercise (10 minutes) but rarely ever complete that ring as I don’t have the propulsion lol 😆. I complete my hours standing (8) and cals burned (250) but don’t think I’ll be ever able to get a trend going iyswim. The timer is useful on it 😬

@132orbust Welldone on nearly reaching goal. Unfortunately the last bit is a stubborn bugger. You can do it!

@RulesRulesRulesRulesRules are you ok. We are all here to help if that’s what you’d like.

@FearlessFairy well done on your loss 👏

Warm welcomes to @Elle200 @ExitChasedByABee & @SpongeBobJudgeyPants (sorry to hear about your friend) Great support to be had on here.

@CocoaMojo a weight loss plateau is so frustrating. Like @SunshineCake said, they do pass if you keep going. This might be useful.

Apologies if I’ve missed anyone.

Thank you so much @TheRealHousewife. This thread is such a life line and boost for me. I feel like this week is going to be a watershed/tough one for me and I'm going to need you all if it goes wrong. I'll have to run more to keep me from thinking.

CocoaMojo · 07/06/2021 14:52

@FearlessFairy thank you so much, you are absolutely right and I need to remember I'm making positive health changes and ultimately that's more important than a number on a scale!! @TheRealHousewife thank you so much for the link, I have just read it and found it really helpful Smile
Thank you @SunshineCake and a big hug to you, sounds so tough right now. Your running and weight loss is amazing and I just echo try to enjoy the running rather than worrying about times etc cos your distances are amazing!

I feel much better having read through this thread, it's so supportive. Have a good afternoon/evening everyone.

SunshineCake · 07/06/2021 15:05

Thank you @CocoaMojo Flowers.

Crazzzycat · 07/06/2021 15:11

Monday is weigh in day for me. I didn’t loose as much as I have over the last few weeks, but managed to shift a respectable 0.6 kg, so more than happy with that.

My exercise plan for the week is daily walks and six cardio sessions. I’ve already done one of those and am pleased to report that my legs are feeling much better than they did last week. I still want to do some yoga, but think I’d struggle to fit it in this week. May be next week.

@CocoaMojo sorry to hear that you’re feeling a bit stuck. Weightloss can be a bit unpredictable, but by the sounds of it you’ve made lots of positive changes so I’m sure that weight will shift if you keep doing what you’re doing. Keep going 💪

Hugs to you @SunshineCake. I really hope this week (and life in general) gets easier for you. I’m sure we’ll all be here if you need to talk 🤗

SunshineCake · 07/06/2021 15:45

Thank you so much @Crazzzycat. I've just walked to the post box and if is a shame ddog is poorly as it was nice out, not too hot, and I really wish I could have had a nice walk with her. Of course it has just dawned on me I could have gone for a walk on my own Blush.

Graphista · 07/06/2021 18:35

@CocoaMojo plateauing happens, pushing through, increasing activity can help sometimes even eating a LITTLE more can work - bodies are weird

@SunshineCake and others going through same, I have a good relationship now with dd and did when she was younger but the couple years just before she moved out were murder! Heartbreaking and a few times I thought I'd "lost" her but we're closer now than we've ever been. Those years are really tough - sending strength and support

Also had a shitty childhood (when i went to ww this was a very common story among members) so any time you wanna chat feel free to pm.

@TheRealHousewife thank you. Yes multiple health issues and meds that cause weight gain (steroids) and slow metabolism definitely don't help! And hcps when banging on at me about my weight seem to forget that! Yes yes to every lb shows too. I was always skinny until after I had dd. Had been a 6-8 all my adult life until then, wedding day I was 4-6 as I was running around like a mad thing organising a big white chapel wedding in 3 months (idiot!) and didn't have time to eat on top of high stress long hours job. Then I had dd, lost the weight initially then in the year after she turned 1 started gaining. This is what happens to every woman in my family on one side. The ones that don't have kids stay slim, the ones that do lose the baby weight quickly but then after the first year start gaining. I have a theory as to why but cannot get any dr to listen.

On the mh side I don't eat when stressed and lose weight quickly but that makes my loved ones worry my mh is declining badly again so when I am eating and gaining weight they are happy as to them this signifies mh is doing better. But I think I've internalised this somewhat and need to retrain my mind.

Having a stressful time at the moment and having to force myself to eat which is difficult. But if I don't then I end up not eating for up to 24 hours, suddenly realise I'm starving and shaking with low blood sugar and grabbing something unhealthy but filling

TheRealHousewife · 07/06/2021 20:08

Evening Lovelies

You’re welcome @SunshineCake … no thanks needed. You’ve done the same for me ❤️

@Graphista I think there is definitely a link between childhood adversity/trauma, ill health, my and weight. So many of us have had similar childhood experiences. All we can do now is take charge of the factors we can influence and take time to heal the aspects we can’t change. A bit like the Serenity Prayer.

Nice little loss @Crazzzycat 👍. Every bit helps!

You’re welcome @CocoaMojo, we’ll get you there 😊

Just done a nice steady 5 miles with my running group 😊 food has been ok today I’ve kept out of the biscuit tin which is a winner! Small amount of chocolate and lots of water so I’m pleased 😊

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 07/06/2021 20:53

Well I've stuck to my calorie count for the last few days and hoping for a good weigh in on Wednesday.

Works not a lot of fun at the moment but that's the way it goes, hopefully it'll improve in a few weeks. I am no way near as fit as some of you ladies running miles and miles but can manage 20 minutes on the cross fit machine now before my legs start shaking so that's an improvement 😂
