Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 June already! What a start to meteorological Summer; stunning weather and easing of Lockdown.

Firstly a massive Thank You to @SunshineCake who has done a stellar job in taking charge of May’s thread 🙏🌟❤️. I was happy for sunshine to carry on but she kindly invited me back to start the new month, so we agreed to make it a joint effort. (I’m still battling ill health and will post when I can).

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

@Graphista

Gaah did a long post and it's vanished. So annoying when that happens!

I've a 2lb gain to report. Not regained all of it but still far from ideal.

BUT it was a crappy week for a number of reasons weight loss wise and otherwise (bereavement, rather not say more) - so I'm drawing a line under it!

I think I know what I need to do now to get back on track

Avoid the biscuits! In fact stop buying biscuits!

Plan and prepare - Tesco delivery tomorrow so I'm going to review what I had already ordered (which was 4 weeks ago before I started this) and add in healthier choices

What veggies are good for tray baked? As I'm thinking to do those rather than my usual oven meal of something with chips and beans! Are tray baked a little on dry side? Where does moisture/flavour come from?

Make sensible choices - like cutting portions of carbs down, choosing lower cal sauces, drinking more (I've hardly drank this week which is stupid and made me headachey which makes me reach for the carbs!)

I need to get back to eating at sensible times too - I'm sat here not having eaten anything yet today and I've been awake since about midday! (Bad night) Stupid!

So onwards and onwards as @132orbust says

To those who've had tough weeks for whatever reason may next week be better!

Congrats to those with losses/sts I think I'm the only one with a gain? Wow BlushBlushBlush

Right graph! Get your fat arse on track woman!! Grin

Aw sorry to hear about the bereavement @Graphista Thanks Don't give yourself a hard time - sounds like you've had a tough week so be kind to yourself. Next week is a fresh start Smile
Graphista · 17/06/2021 23:14

Thanks for veg tray bake info @SunshineCake

@Millie2008 thank you. I'm not good at being kind to myself need to learn

SunshineCake · 18/06/2021 07:09

Definitely @Graphista. we have to look after ourselves. It's so important. Even if no one else to care for as we all know the can't look after the family if we aren't fully okay ourselves saying.

joysmoy66 · 18/06/2021 07:11

Yes yes yes!! 10 st exactly! The last bit seemed to take forever to come off but finally there. New goal-keep it off or I wouldn't mind losing another pound or two Grin

SunshineCake · 18/06/2021 07:17

Congrats @joysmoy66! I'm really pleased for you.

I'm off for a run in the rain now. DH thinks I should go back to shorter distances to try and get faster but I need the longer time out more than ever at the moment. Not sure how much I'll do today. It's raining, ddog needs a walk and ds2 wants to go shopping, plus after my 28km cycle I'm not sure how cooperative my legs will be; but mentally I need a long one.

Hope everyone is well and has a good day.

joysmoy66 · 18/06/2021 07:25

Thanks sunshine Smileenjoy the run but don't over do it after the cycling. I get what you mean about needing it mentally. I've been through a fair bit of crap the last 8 months and exercise has really helped improve my mental health.

swampytiggaa · 18/06/2021 08:28

My knee is hurting again 😢 no run for me today.

Well done @joysmoy66! Lovely feeling isn’t it?

Crazzzycat · 18/06/2021 09:11

Congratulations @joysmoy66! That’s pretty awesome 🥳

I’m sorry some of you are going through such rough times. Hugs to you all.

@Graphista, just to add to @SunshineCake’s list, fennel is lovely too in a tray bake. I know it’s a bit of an acquired taste, but I really love it and think it adds a lovely bit of flavour. If you’re concerned about your roasted veg not having enough flavour, add a few cloves of garlic in their skins and roast that with the veg with a bit of oil. Then just squeeze out the roasted garlic at the end and mix with your veg 😋

You can also add fresh herbs. Basil, thyme and rosemary all work well. Just make sure there’s a little bit of oil on them, or they’ll burn.

I found this earlier and thought I’d share in case any of these recipes appeal/ meet your needs:

joysmoy66 · 18/06/2021 09:28

Thanks swampy, sorry about the knee ☹️thanks crazzzycatSmile

SunshineCake · 18/06/2021 13:37

Yes! @Crazzzycat garlic baked them squashed is lovely. I knew there was something else but I couldn't remember it.

Thanks @joysmoy66. Sorry you've been having tough times Flowers. When out today I think about going home at a certain point but just knew it wasn't enough time. I missed out a bit as needed to repeat a bit in advance as there was a enormous lorry in the way so was a bit fed up when I got home and I had done 17km when I thought I'd done 18. Still my longest ever though.

I hope your knee is better soon @swampytiggaa. I used Sanctuary heat boost thingy ma jig on mine. I can look up the actual name if you want Grin.

I was chatting to my neighbour today who runs for her job and she said I was running too fast. I actually didn't think I was running that fast, all I'm today were 6s and 7s but if I've understood her correctly it was to do with my heart rate. I know now what rate to run at and she said it will help me get faster so I'll try it next time. I felt fine while running, felt easy and not that fast, but now I've got a bit of chest discomfort. Feels random as I finished running at about 9.35 and then walked the dog for an hour and a bit.

joysmoy66 · 18/06/2021 13:42

Wow sunshine I'm in aweShockthat's amazing!

Welcome @Canwegodancing. I hear you about the clothes. I got rid of some that would fit now and have conceded the ones that are too big should go. They are only in the loft for now.

TheRealHousewife · 18/06/2021 17:00

Thank you @TheRealHousewife Flowers. My MH is awful at the moment, worst is has been for a while, so the running is medicinal and I'm already fretting about tomorrow as I think I should probably rest.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 18/06/2021 17:27

Ooohhh it's been an interesting old day. Been offered 2 internal promotions by different teams both a 20% pay increase and good benefits, significant development opportunities and really good titles.

Now I have hard decisions to make, and being on a diet means I can't employ my usual thinking process of eating lots of chocolate fudge brownie icecream while mulling it over 😂

SunshineCake · 18/06/2021 17:30

Congratulations @HalfShrunkMoreToGo!

A smaller portion of ice cream is definitely justified. You owe it to yourself to make the best decision Wink.

132orbust · 18/06/2021 20:25

Anyone who has a yearn for ice cream but doesn't want to waste calories may I suggest these:
www.ocado.com/products/solero-exotic-ice-cream-lolly-29000011?ds_rl=1291426&ds_rl=1291558&vreg&gclid=eaiaiqobchmignnappoh8qivw_hrch10aqfmeaqyasabeglms_d_bwe&gclsrc=aw.ds
Absolutely yummy and under 100 calories.

swampytiggaa · 18/06/2021 21:20

SunshineCake · 18/06/2021 22:19

You look fab @swampytiggaa! I used to work at Morrison's. Many years ago.

SunshineCake · 18/06/2021 22:21

I've had loads to drink tonight. Feel really sad. I was already struggling and now I'm going to feel worse tomorrow when I see this. I wish I was better. I'm not brave enough

Graphista · 18/06/2021 23:12

@SunshineCake I have nobody to care for now really but I would like to be a lot healthier than I am because I know dd and my mum worry about me

Fwiw I'm sure I've read it's the distance covered determines calories used not the speed so much

So sorry you're having such a tough time, would it maybe be useful to see dr? Alcohol is a bad idea when feeling low as it's a depressant, I suffer from ocd, agoraphobia, depression and general anxiety and I won't touch alcohol when I'm feeling on low side. Just makes me pure maudlin.

@joysmoy66 well done!

@Crazzzycat unfortunately fennel is one of a very small list of veggies I don't like - or rather it doesn't like me gives me upset tum (I guess that's one way to lose weight )

Thanks for the link though

@swampytiggaa sorry your knee is hurting that sucks you look great! You must be very near or at goal surely? You look a healthy weight to me

@Canwegodancing this is a great positive supportive thread welcome

@TheRealHousewife thanks for the link I'll check it out in a bit

I have a fridge FULL like rammed with fresh veg and fruit!

Had my weekly "treat" of quorn sausage rolls for lunch but otherwise v low cal lunch

Dinner - salad with a tiny bit dressing and grated mozzarella and bread on the side

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo oooh interesting decisions to make! Well done

Ice cream wise I'm trying to resist the last 2 double caramel magnums I have in the freezer! (244 cals each!)

And instead I have Tesco strawberry and lemonade helter skelter lollies (52 cals) or mini milk (91 cals)

joysmoy66 · 19/06/2021 00:07

Thanks graphistaSmile. You look amazing as super girl swampy! Love the costume Grinoh sunshine ☹️ThanksI wish I could give you a hug. Try and get some sleep and hopefully tomorrow will be better for you.

swampytiggaa · 19/06/2021 03:57

@Graphista @SunshineCake @joysmoy66 thank you 😊

Graphista I am close… I just would like to lose a few more pounds or inches so my very expensive jeans fit me comfortably again 😊

I’ve been pretty much the same weight my whole adult life but unfortunately age has crept up and added over a stone on overnight. I decided to do something about it before it got out of hand 😊 the last few pounds are really stubborn tho!
