Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 June already! What a start to meteorological Summer; stunning weather and easing of Lockdown.

Firstly a massive Thank You to @SunshineCake who has done a stellar job in taking charge of May’s thread 🙏🌟❤️. I was happy for sunshine to carry on but she kindly invited me back to start the new month, so we agreed to make it a joint effort. (I’m still battling ill health and will post when I can).

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

@SunshineCake I’m game if you are 😍😘😍

CocoaMojo · 16/06/2021 20:30

Hi all, not posted on here awhile but still ticking along, sort of. (🐢🐢🐢) Have had a rough start to the week with DH 's work which has then had knock on impacts on me doing absolutely bloody everything with the kids/house on top of working so am quite knackered. Once more exercise is not happening 🙄 My colleague at work had a birthday on Monday and brought in the most delicious home made cake and I scoffed 2 pieces, just like some of you I regret nothing!! I am trying to get hold of the recipe 😂
Other than that being reasonably good and actually lost 2 lbs last week so 👍
I am enjoying the recipe ideas from this thread. I can't remember who mentioned goats cheese and lentil salad but that's been my lunch at work this week and its bloody delicious so thanks 👍
Evening meals I love a bit of salmon with pesto, veg and a bit of rice. Lentil dahl is good, easy and tasty. Often have a 'summer-in-winter chicken' recipe from BBC good food which is super easy and tasty (chicken + cherry tomatoes + creme fraiche + pesto) Found a recipe for chicken pilaf traybake recently which is v easy and tasty. I'm also not a cook really and always so tired from work so always looking for super quick things!
Friday is always pizza night but have swapped the chips on the side for salad and eat like a bird the rest of the day to compensate.

CocoaMojo · 16/06/2021 20:31

Also I am 1.6 lbs away from a healthy BMI which is exciting. Hope to get there by end of the month....

Hi @CocoaMojo. sounds like you are doing great in difficult times. Good luck getting rid of your extra 1.6lb.

We are having random evening meals at the moment as my freezer really needs defrosting and is too full so it is a case of just eating what we find.

Millie2008 · 16/06/2021 23:17

Hey everyone, just thought I'd check in. I'm not posting much but reading everything! I'm getting loads of recipe inspiration so thanks for that! We get an veg box and seem to have an endless supply of cabbage atm 🤣 guess it must be in season. So used a pp suggestion (can't remember who sorry!) of sautéed cabbage in butter, with halloumi, butter beans and some cream stirred in at the end- had for lunch today and really enjoyed. Also liking the sound of the goats cheese and lentil salad.
It was my weigh in day today and I'd lost 1Ib- obvs would prefer 2 but better than nothing! Thinking I need to work on cutting out a few more carbs (and wine 🤣)
I do have a question for the group- I have a lovely post pregnancy "pouch" in my lower tummy. It feels different from any excess weight pre pregnancy and doesn't seem to budge. I'm not feeling overly concerned about it (as my main reason for trying to lose weight is health related - and also I feel quite lucky to have had the opportunity to grow babies -very big ones I might add!)- but equally I wouldn't mind if it reduced a bit in size! Has anyone experienced similar? And does it decrease with diet alone or does it need some serious focussed abs work?! I'm a year and a half post partum btw so it's not going to go on its own at this point ! 😂

Puffalicious · 17/06/2021 08:22

Morning lovely peeps,

Weigh in day and I'm the same weight- 3 weeks in a row now. Not too upset as we're in the middle of a loft conversion (last bit so I'm painting like a demon as well as working , therefore rather shattered) and I've definitely not been sticking to my IF hours and having more carbs that I should. Bread is just too tempting!!!

I'm going to try and be extra, extra good this week. I've been too 'picky' in the evenings with no bigger meal so I reckon I need to sort that. Had baked sweet potato with tuna and salad last night and I definitely didn't pick after.

Back on it.🐢🐢🐢

TheRealHousewife · 17/06/2021 08:57

Good Morning Lovelies

Feel a bit blaaaaa this morning. Pain/numbness in night kept disturbing me and feel all foggy headed now.

@SunshineCake @swampytiggaa you two made me laugh 😂🥰😘🥰 what you like!

@CocoaMojo welcome back. There are no cals in Birthday Cake 🎂😬 Nonetheless, Well done on your loss 👏🥇 It all helps in getting you towards your bmi target.

@Millie2008 welcome! I posted the cabbage recipe. Love it! I sometimes add chilli, red pepper … anything really. I loves me cabbage I do …. and Brussels sprouts! Can’t wait for those to be in season again. In answer to your question, it’s almost impossible to spot reduce, sorry. However, any fat loss will reduce your overall silhouette including tum … iyswim. Core exercises will help your stomach muscles lift your torso (to a degree) Congratulations on your healthy babies !

Good morning @Puffalicious. Stalls are so frustrating! I’m sure when your less tired and distracted with home renovations you’ll get back on it for sure. You seem to be doing your best to get through this extra busy time.

Lunch - Mushroom Omelette

Evening - Chicken Stir Fry

Snacks if needed - Apple, yoghurt, nuts.

Have a great day!

@TheRealHousewife glad we made you smile 💕 hope you are feeling better soon!

Well done on losses and STS’s 😊 all good!

Doing a double shift at work today so I’m home for a bit. Just done a slow steady mile on the treadmill to test out my wonky knee… seems ok I think as long as I’m careful 🤞

I’m planning an early lunch as I’m out delivering again later starting at 12. Burgers for tea I think… husband is making beef burgers and I’m planning on halloumi burgers for the newly vegetarian teen. I’ll probably have those too. There will be plenty of salad and probably some chips as well.

Really trying to keep my water intake up. Will weigh and measure after my shower 😊

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 17/06/2021 09:38

@Millie2008 I also have this (also had 2 big babies!) it has reduced a lot with diet - I’ve now lost 3 stone but is still there. I suspect it may go with abdominal exercise but I am too lazy and also ttc another baby so no point really when it will just get stretched again 😂

I’ve just weighed and I’m 2lb down on last week so I’ve managed to get over my plateau. I’m now 7lb away from my goal weight and 3 stone 1 down in total. Really happy about this weeks loss as I’ve really not been on top of things diet wise and having a lot of stress with the house purchase and eating things I normally wouldn’t.

swampytiggaa · 17/06/2021 09:59

Just weighed in. 1/2lb down on last week 😊 measurements have stayed the same 👍

Pleased with that. I’ve only just started getting stricter with my food and water intake and my exercise has been down due to injury. 1/2lb a week is my goal tbh. It’s realistic given my starting weight.

Rewis · 17/06/2021 10:06

Weekly weigh In

Start may 14: 88.8kg
Last week: 86.3kg
Today: 85.7kg

I'm very happy but this makes no sense. Between Friday and Wednesday i was away and drank (margarita jugs are amazing) and ate a lot and did absolutely nothing active 😅

joysmoy66 · 17/06/2021 10:53

Weighed in this morning at 10st 0.2 Shockso so close! Hoping maybe tomorrow I will hit my goal if I'm super careful today!

Crazzzycat · 17/06/2021 11:18

Well done on all those losses! Sometimes I think there really is no logic to weightloss @Rewis. But well done!

I ordered some new jeans over a month ago. Because there was such a long waiting time, I thought it would probably be best to order two sizes. I didn’t expect that the smaller size would fit at this point (and they don’t really), BUT I can do them up! 😱 I can’t say they’re very comfortable and I’m not confident that I could actually sit down in them, but I’m sure that’s only a matter of time. They’re two sizes smaller than what I was wearing in March, so I’m pretty happy with that progress!

Have a good day everyone!

Has anyone ever tried the pancake alternative recipes and found a good delicious one?

I've tried the 'banana pancakes' which is just judged up banana and egg and it was horrible just tasted like a weird banana flavoured omelette but have recently seen a recipe using cottage cheese and then this one today using cold porridge as the base

Where I'm from quark seems to be the most common healthy substitute. I've never tried but a friend said they were good pancakes. You can make a healthier version and less so 😅

Porridge is commonly used as a base for bread so I can totally see that working. As much as I love cottage cheese I don't like it warm like that.

Thanks everyone Grinand well done to all of you!

Apologies for my rubbish earlier message. I have crashed today and was feeling rather sorry for myself.

I have just cycled just over 28km on the exercise bike and feel a bit better. Tomorrow I am running no matter what.

@Millie2008 I have a lovely cabbage recipe with spaghetti and a fish I can't remember if you would like it.

Hi @Puffalicious 🐢🐢 On the Sunday's when I couldn't be bothered to make something and have picked I've ended up eating stupid things and it all going wrong so I'm with you on needing a proper meal. Keep going. We're doing okay.

Sorry you were feeling rubbish @TheRealHousewife. I hope you have felt better as the day has gone on.

A 2lb loss is fabulous @MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat. Well done!

Good loss there @swampytiggaa and a positive attitude.

It makes perfect sense @Rewis. You ate enough to let some weight go. Sometimes we don't eat enough to lose weight.

🤞@joysmoy66. You'll do it!

Brilliant news on the jeans @Crazzzycat. It's such a great moment when you can buy a size or two down.

Puffalicious · 17/06/2021 20:11

Thanks Sunshine been really good today: met my gorgeous friend I've not seen in almost a year and I stuck to just a tea! Then visited niece and new great nephew- adorable- and resisted my favourite cake she'd bought. I am virtuous today.

Your 28km makes me weak even thinking about it!

joysmoy66 · 17/06/2021 20:49

Thanks sunshine Smilewell done on your 28km! Amazing!

Graphista · 17/06/2021 22:00

Gaah did a long post and it's vanished. So annoying when that happens!

I've a 2lb gain to report. Not regained all of it but still far from ideal.

BUT it was a crappy week for a number of reasons weight loss wise and otherwise (bereavement, rather not say more) - so I'm drawing a line under it!

I think I know what I need to do now to get back on track

Avoid the biscuits! In fact stop buying biscuits!

Plan and prepare - Tesco delivery tomorrow so I'm going to review what I had already ordered (which was 4 weeks ago before I started this) and add in healthier choices

What veggies are good for tray baked? As I'm thinking to do those rather than my usual oven meal of something with chips and beans! Are tray baked a little on dry side? Where does moisture/flavour come from?

Make sensible choices - like cutting portions of carbs down, choosing lower cal sauces, drinking more (I've hardly drank this week which is stupid and made me headachey which makes me reach for the carbs!)

I need to get back to eating at sensible times too - I'm sat here not having eaten anything yet today and I've been awake since about midday! (Bad night) Stupid!

So onwards and onwards as @132orbust says

To those who've had tough weeks for whatever reason may next week be better!

Congrats to those with losses/sts I think I'm the only one with a gain? Wow BlushBlushBlush

Right graph! Get your fat arse on track woman!! Grin

SunshineCake · 17/06/2021 22:06
