Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 June already! What a start to meteorological Summer; stunning weather and easing of Lockdown.

Firstly a massive Thank You to @SunshineCake who has done a stellar job in taking charge of May’s thread 🙏🌟❤️. I was happy for sunshine to carry on but she kindly invited me back to start the new month, so we agreed to make it a joint effort. (I’m still battling ill health and will post when I can).

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Thanks @Crazzzycat. I already knew fresh bread was a problem but sometimes it was worth it. Having done so well with the weight loss it has not been worth it this time. Ironically I've had less physically symptoms but the numbers are more than what usually happens after bread. I'm not daft enough to say I'll never eat fresh bread again but I will limit it to one slice and not three over two meals in one day.

When the kids were small every breakfast and lunch was the same. Cereal and toast then pasta and cheese or jacket potato. I then didn't eat most of these things for a long time and so my body was what are these things after a while. But I'm boring myself now so I'll shut up Grin.

TheRealHousewife · 15/06/2021 15:27

Good Afternoon All

@SunshineCake Thank you, and we’ll done on your run! 👍👏🥇🌟

Talking potatoes as some of you were. When ever I have them I try to buy ones with blemish free skins. I rarely peel potatoes as the fibre in the skin is very good for you. Also to a degree the fibre counteracts the starch/carb count! The small salad/Charlotte potatoes are lovely boiled in skins.

@Graphista I have salad, stir fry or soup most lunch times. Evening meals:-

Curry
Roast vegetables & chicken
Burritos & salad
Spicy salmon & salad or quinoa.
Protein Bean Bowls
Pan fried fish and vegetables with cream sauce.

I have many cook books and really enjoy perusing them for inspiration. You're more likely to see a cookbook on my bedside rather than the Karma Sutra 😬

The recipes @Crazzzycat posted are right up my street! Thank you for sharing.

A warm welcome @fat13, you’ll fit right in. Congratulations on your progress to date. 👍👏🌟

@Graphista I forgot to add that today’s menu is:-

Lunch - Cabbage sautéed in butter with butter beans and fried Halloumi. Seasoned to taste. A tablespoon of cream stirred in at the end.

Evening meal - Spicy salmon, steamed veg & quinoa.

Apple, peach and pear crumble (thin oat, nut, chopped date and butter topping) served with Greek yoghurt or fresh cream (need to work out cals - if enough it’ll be the cream).

OAN last week we lost the entire freezer contents. Did some restocking today. Once the lemon slices/wedges are frozen I’ll pop into a tub. Great to go into cold drinks. The choc ices and bread are my OH … honest 😬

Hello everyone! Still not running so did a 10 mile hilly walk this morning after work 😊 was absolutely gorgeous 💕

So far I’m keeping out of the biscuit tin. Considered a chocolate chip shortbread but decided I’ll have it later if I really want it.

Just deciding what to have for tea. Kids might have pizza. Wish the husband liked pasta as his diet is a bit limited tbh.

fat13 · 15/06/2021 17:09

That crumble sounds divine!

The hot weather is good for me in terms of sticking to my diet but it does mean I don’t get as many steps in as I’d like (fair skinned DCs!)

swampytiggaa · 15/06/2021 17:15

I’ve just had pizza 😬 I’m within my calories without eating back my exercise calories so that’s ok.

Crazzzycat · 15/06/2021 18:53

I hope you enjoyed that pizza @swampytiggaa! I’m in awe of anyone who can eat crumble in these temperatures @TheRealHousewife, but I must say it sounds delicious!

My menu for the day is/ was:

Veggie burger & salad wrap for lunch, with a Skyr yoghurt and an apple

Mini sourdough crackers with homemade feta cheese & jalapeño spread for an afternoon snack

Bean & halloumi stew with bulgur for dinner, with a kiwi for afters.

That comes to less than my calorie allowance, so I may have a few (25g) nuts later this evening or some nice dark chocolate, depending on what I feel like 🤔

swampytiggaa · 15/06/2021 18:55

It was blummin lovely @Crazzzycat 😋

Graphista · 15/06/2021 19:39

Yes 2 tbsp is for all of us. ahh cool

I can't get on with the feet colanders somehow

@Crazzzycat I'll check out "green roasting tin" oven baked meals are ideal as very little standing. Just prep, in oven and then I can sit while it's cooking

Interesting about craving foods that we're intolerant to

Op thanks for tips and links, one link has scrambled eggs with basil which I would NEVER have thought of but is something I'd love. I need to eat more eggs/egg based dishes

I went slightly over cals yesterday and learned a lesson!

The "light snack" I had late at night worked out at more cals than my lunch! In future I'm having a 2nd lunch!

TheRealHousewife · 15/06/2021 20:06

@fat13 it was rather lovely!

@Graphista you’re welcome. Don’t worry too much about you going over your cals. Tomorrow’s another day, another fresh start 😊

@Crazzzycat I needed to use up the fruit before it expired. I hate waste. I washed everything, didn’t peel any of it. Had a smaller main to accommodate cc. Yummy scrumptious it was!

Tomorrow’s menu is:-

Lunch = Salad Bowl with boiled eggs/butter beans.

Evening Meal = Tray bake with chicken legs and vegetables. I’ll serve it up with my pimped up Bisto Chicken Gravy.

Enjoy your evening …. I’m a Footy widow at the moment as OH watching whenever it’s on.

Nearly a whole bag of lentil lime crisps
Huge piece of cake

Not even sorry.

Going running tomorrow Hmm.

Loss this week - 0 lb
Loss this month - 4 lb
Total loss since starting - 51 lb

fat13 · 16/06/2021 09:10

So I’m next gonna weigh myself 30 June so two weeks today (obviously.) I’m really hoping I might have cracked through the 12/11 stone barrier but that would be 8lbs in just over a fortnight and probably not realistic. I’m hoping maybe 12’2, 5lbs so 2.5 lbs a week. But any loss is good.

132orbust · 16/06/2021 09:48

Hello chums - I have not given up I promise BUT last week was a week off for DH and I as we celebrated a milestone wedding anniversary so treated ourselves to some leisure time/meals out etc. We also picked up DD1 from Uni so it has taken me until Wednesday morning to get back to a reasonable weight again. Still 1lb up from my low 2 weeks ago but I will take that as we ate very 'well' and I don't regret a bite of it ( as @SunshineCake says Not even sorry) but we also walked a lot and I stuck to one indulgent meal a day and tried to somewhat balance things.
By tomorrow I will hopefully have chipped away at that 1lb so I can get closer to 132(or bust!!).
Onwards and inwards chaps, onwards and inwardsSmile

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 16/06/2021 10:20

Yay yay yay!

Swimming pools in Leicester are finally re-opening for lane swimming, just 3 months after the rest of the country (grrrrrrrr) so I'm booked for swimming next Monday, aqua aerobics next Wednesday and hoping they'll release slots for family splash about swimming for next weekend so I can take DD.

SunshineCake · 16/06/2021 11:52

Hi @132orbust your week off sounds lovely and a pound is nothing. You have made me decide that on dh and my wedding anniversary next month I will take a day off from sensible eating. Can't promise not to run though.

Really pleased for you about the swimming @HalfShrunkMoreToGo.

I went early to run as it was due to be hotter today and I ran slower too. So 1 hour 40 minutes and my longest distance of 14.23km. It is becoming a bit of a problem as I use it as my clear my head and thinking time and don't want to go home.

Been lazy since, reading in the garden on my lovely new so comfortable sun lounger. Hope to take doggy out tomorrow as she's not had a proper walk for ages but she's all better now.

TheRealHousewife · 16/06/2021 12:11

Good Morning All

Weighed rather reluctantly…. Up a bit from last week. Not to worry. I’ll roll back on carbs (don’t usually have so many) as I hold onto water weight whenever I have too many. In the past week I have oats (on crumble), gluten free wraps, oven chips and white rice. Now I’ve seen it written down like that it’s far more than I generally have. I’ll up my protein and water intake too. Onwards and downwards.

Hi @132orbust … you’ll soon be back to your previous low. Happy belated anniversary… a well deserved celebration 🍾

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo great news on the swimming pools! Enjoy 👍

@fat13 any loss is good 👍

@SunshineCake you must have been hungry. You do run a lot and that will deplete your stores. You body perhaps wanted a re-load of energy. Great run! BTW … don’t forgot to turn around and run back towards home 🏡

Today blitz cleaning kitchen. Walls, cupboard doors etc. Hot weather not a problem as it’s nice and cool in kitchen.

Your lunch looks lovely @TheRealHousewife

Well done on the losses (and I include staying the same weight in that. Your weightloss is inspirational @HalfShrunkMoreToGo!)

I agree that you’ll soon shift that small gain @132orbust. It sounds like you had a lovely time and that’s really what matters most!

I’m exhausted today. I actually found myself reaching for a full size chocolate bar at lunchtime. I was on complete auto-pilot and only really noticed I’d done so after I’d broken off the first piece 😳 Fortunately that was just in time to stop myself from scoffing the whole bar!

It’s interesting how much hungrier I’ve been feeling too. I really feel like I could easily empty the fridge and still be hungry. I’m trying to remind myself that eating won’t actually make any significant difference to my energy levels, but I think it’s going to be a very long day 😣

Anyway, enough of the pity party! I hope you’re all feeling a lot more energetic than me!

SunshineCake · 16/06/2021 15:38

You've been very productive @TheRealHousewife and don't fret about the scales.

Well done on not eating all the chocolate @Crazzzycat and I hope you feel better soon.

I've done nothing today other than change the bedding and post some cards. The rest of the time I've been reading my book in the garden. I did make DDog some carrot lollies though. I'm now in my room watching tomorrow's Coronation Street as DH has been hurtful and I can't trust myself not to say more than I should. I might just not bother turning for home tomorrow on my run AngrySad.

TheRealHousewife · 16/06/2021 17:04

Sorry to hear about your home situation …. Run to mine and I’ll pop the kettle on. 🫖

Well done on swerving your chocolate @Crazzzycat 👍. Hope you feel more refreshed tomorrow!

Thank you Flowers. DH came to find me and apologise but he knows he's upset me and while I don't want to leave him it doesn't mean he can treat me like that.

swampytiggaa · 16/06/2021 18:53

Oh @SunshineCake sorry things seem sad for you 😢 run to north Devon and I will buy you a cream tea then we can run it off together 💕

I’m still avoiding the biscuit tin also keeping away from chocolate. Drinking loads of water and trying to eat healthily.

Today was my day off so obviously I did 4 hours in work this afternoon delivering shopping to elderly vulnerable people 😂😂 it was very hot in the van. Doing the same tomorrow and Friday after work 😇 I’ll take water with me next time tho!

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 16/06/2021 19:22

Sorry to hear about DH @SunshineCake Flowers

I am feeling quite stressed at the moment as we are in the middle of selling the house and buying a new one and desperately trying to get it done before stamp duty increases and our buyers solicitors are being so slow and useless and I’ve been tearing my hair out today. I’ve been snappy with my kids and I’m feeling bad about it now. Had a shop bought sandwich and an icecream earlier which aren’t great calorie wise and then a large glass of wine. Will have a healthy dinner to try and balance it out and try and do better tomorrow

SunshineCake · 16/06/2021 20:06

@swampytiggaa 🤣 I thought you said run OFF together. It was only in the third time of reading it saw the it!Blush.

I'm sure I'll feel better after a sleep and I am going clothes shopping which hopefully will be fun. My new shorts from last year are all too big.

Hope the house move goes smoother @MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat. Maybe remind the solicitors they work for you..
