Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 June already! What a start to meteorological Summer; stunning weather and easing of Lockdown.

Firstly a massive Thank You to @SunshineCake who has done a stellar job in taking charge of May’s thread 🙏🌟❤️. I was happy for sunshine to carry on but she kindly invited me back to start the new month, so we agreed to make it a joint effort. (I’m still battling ill health and will post when I can).

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Thank you @TheRealHousewife for coming back and starting us off again. You are brilliant with your words and pictures to get us all going and keep us on the straight and narrower. Grin.

1stJuneNewStartBoom · 31/05/2021 20:18

Hi I will jump in and join you for June.

Have totally lost my way with my weight, its affecting my health. Lost 21lb in the first lock down which I maintained until Christmas and I have now regained the lot.

Because it's health related I have been prescribed orlistat by my GP. I successfully used this last year to lose the 21lb. To not get the nasty side effects you have to follow a low fat diet and be quite strict with it. Lots of healthy food. It's not for everyone but worked for me previously when I had my head in the game. The medication stops me from making wrong food choices.

Limited with exercise as my health issues means I have to be careful so lots of walking (aiming for 10k steps a day) and I recently bought a basic rowing machine which I can manage about 15/20 mins on so aiming for 3 times a week on that.

I have about 4 stone to lose overall but my focus for June is to make good progress into losing my first stone. Will also be doing dry June as I recently had my birthday and went to excess with the alcohol celebrating over various days with friends and family.

I just want to feel better about myself physically and mentally which I know comes with better food choices!!

swampytiggaa · 31/05/2021 20:26

Hello! I joined the last thread and found it really helpful! I’m trying to shift my perimenapausal weight gain with a combination of intermittent fasting keeping out of the biscuit tin and running.

Tell me to shut up if I talk too much about running please 😊

TheRealHousewife · 31/05/2021 20:34

You are very welcome and thank you 🙏 @SunshineCake ❤️ , you are very kind!

A warm welcome @1stJuneNewStartBoom & @swampytiggaa, the more the merrier or rather more inspirational. All the ladies who post their progress inspire others. These really are supportive threads.

@1stJuneNewStartBoom the main thing is you’ve got back on it PLUS you know what works for you. That’s a powerful combination. You’ll do it!

@swampytiggaa you chat as much as you want about running 🏃‍♀️, it’s great you hold the enthusiasm! I’m sure @SunshineCake will share running achievements with you, she’s a great runner too!

Thanks for the new thread! My June goal is to get to 10st which is same goal as last couple of months but haven't managed it yet. Only about 2lb to go but I keep gaining a bit and losing it due to meals out etc.

SunshineCake · 31/05/2021 22:29

Welcome @1stJuneNewStartBoom. I am sure you will do great.

Hi @swampytiggaa and @joysmoy66.

I didn't reach my April goal of dropping to the next stone down and only made it on week three of May so I'm with you @joysmoy66. The win is to keep trying. You'll do it and I'll be cheering you on.

Crazzzycat · 31/05/2021 22:35

Checking in on this shiny new thread 👋

May went a lot better than expected and I’ve almost smashed all the goals I’d set myself for the end of June. I guess I could set myself some ambitious new targets, but I think I’m going to stick with my original target of 88 kg by the end of June. Anything less than that is a win!

The simple answer to “how are you planning to lose weight” is calorie counting and intermittent fasting, but what I’m really trying to achieve is a complete lifestyle overhaul, including more sleep, better nutrition and much more exercise. It’s going well so far. I’m still overweight, but I feel infinitely better than I used to 😊

BirthdayCakeBelly · 31/05/2021 22:53

I’m joining to get help with maintaining my weight having finally hit my goal weight this year but have felt myself slowly falling back into bad habits in May for a variety of reasons.
Onwards and upwards in June!

joysmoy66 · 31/05/2021 23:19

Thanks sunshine Smileyou are absolutely right-the important thing is to keep trying and not give up. I'm really pleased with how my fitness and strength has come on so that's a plus. Will be pleased when I get to my goal but not going to stress about it Smilewell done to dropping to next stone bracket in may! That's amazing Smile

Puffalicious · 31/05/2021 23:20

Hey all,

Lovely to see you back TheRealHousewife. My fellow 🐢 club pal Sunshinecake did a sterling job in your absence.

Checking in for my 8th thread. Such a great support on here. I achieved my May goal of 3-4lbs (4lbs) and would love to think I could lose another 3-4lbs in June. I'll aim for that anyway.

31lbs down, 11 to go.

Looking forward to hearing about everyone's journey this month.

BrioLover · 01/06/2021 00:16

Checking in for June. I've had a rather hedonistic weekend booze and food wise so need to get back in gear for June. It's my 9 year wedding anniversary mid-month and I'd like to forget about food for those days so going to be on it for the rest of June.

Maria53 · 01/06/2021 02:39

Hey all. I was on this forum last year having lost a stone during first lockdown!

Sadly I've now put it back on and then some. New health kick starts today.

SunshineCake · 01/06/2021 06:43

@132orbust - hi, hope you are okay? Would it be ok if I sent you a PM as I would appreciate your advice/reassurance re DD? No obligation Smile.

Hi @Crazzzycat and well done on all your achievements. I'm also doing IF and carrying on with my running. I woke before six so will get up soon and go and do a decent run as I didn't go yesterday.

Welcome @BirthdayCakeBelly. You have come to the right place if you want support and friendship. Well done on your achievements so far.

Thank you @joysmoy66. I almost think that achieving better fitness is more important than weight loss but I am probably wrong Grin. Keep up the good work.

Thank you @Puffalicious Blush. I did try. Well done on your losses, that is great! I am aiming for two pounds off this month as I think that is achievable and 🐢and steady wins the race. I'm one of the slowest losers but I am keeping it off. I'm not sure how many threads I have been on but I started the May 2020 thread as well and I think I was first seen in August 2019 so quite a few. I will try and find my first one later if I don't forget.

Hi @BrioLover. Nice to see you. Don't be worrying about your indulgent time you have had and to come. Enjoy what you had/have then get back to normal ways. You've got this.

Welcome back @Maria53. We are all here to support you.

I messaged @HalfShrunkMoreToGo and she is coming back. Yay!

For the newcomers - I am doing IF and running several times a week. I can't do calorie counting. I seem to have got over most of my food intolerances so that makes life easier. I don't always have my 3pm snack as eating better at lunch but have slacked a bit at the not eating after dinner and may have a treat early evening. This week I will try and not do that.

Initial SW October 2018 - 14 stone.
Started running SW May 2020 - 12 stone 9.
Last week 10 stone 12.2
CGW 10 stone 7

I will run shortly then post June's starting weight.

Ready, steady go everyone for a great month!

132orbust · 01/06/2021 07:13

Yes @SunshineCake of course it would.
I am ok - lots going on like everyone but nothing too bad.

BirthdayCakeBelly · 01/06/2021 08:09

Thanks @SunshineCake.
I did it through stopping the night time over eating in front of the telly. It was hard but I knew that’s where the majority of my calorie intake was coming from, right before bed too so it would affect my sleep and I’d wake up feeling rotten.
Now the pubs and restaurants are opening again I’ve found myself eating much bigger portions then I’m used to, eating later and making poor foods choices when I’m out.
I’m still at a healthy weight but I can’t let it creep back up because for me that happens really quickly. I’ve literally spent 5 months this year on a diet but the last 2 weeks is like I’ve taken a step back in time.

TheRealHousewife · 01/06/2021 08:44

Morning All

I share your frustration @joysmoy66 … for those who remember a programme from the 70s Im playing Golden Shot at the moment… up a bit, down a bit, up a bit 😬

@SunshineCake congrats on moving down into the next stone 🌟🥇I witnessed you transforming your health and fitness and that’s inspiring! Thank you for sharing.

@Crazzzycat sounds like a plan! I’m similar in using IF and cico. Ultimately it does come down to that equation. I defo need to be in deficit to lose but poor sleep and hormone fluctuations play havoc with appetites.

Congrats on reaching goal @BirthdayCakeBelly! Great place to be.

Hi @Puffalicious … a agree @SunshineCake did a brill job! I’m so grateful. You’re making consistent and steady progress, awesome 👏 Overall you’ve achieved a significant loss and with will have gained so many health & fitness benefits.

@BrioLover Who can blame you, lockdowns easing, sun shining and family & friends getting together. That’s quite a heady mix after the year we’ve had. Congratulations on your 9th anniversary … pottery and willow wood are the traditional gifts fr that year d be straight off to Emma Bridgewater 😬

Welcome back @Maria53 it easy done. Life gets in the way sometimes. Get back in the zone and you’ll soon be back on it.

I agree with @SunshineCake it would be great if @HalfShrunkMoreToGo joins us for June. Is @fallfallfall around? Hope you’re ok Fall.

That’s enough waffle from me. Have a great day and stay safe.

I had a great bank holiday weekend so I can't complain really! Gosh it was nice to see some sun, get the bbq and the fizz out, watch the children play.

Run this evening for me, and then I am going to do a mix of IF and eating lovely fresh, colourful foods. The sun kind of makes this easier.

@TheRealHousewife I did not know that for the 9 year anniversary

Happy June everyone, good luck! And also remember my May nugget from @SunshineCake - if you need a snack you need a snack.

swampytiggaa · 01/06/2021 09:57

I’ve weighed and measured myself so I can see what happens over the month 😊

swampytiggaa · 01/06/2021 09:58

Posted too soon!

Weight 9st 12.8lb
Bust 84cm
Waist 71cm
Hips 91.6cm

Crazzzycat · 01/06/2021 10:15

The weight on the scales this morning was 88.2 kg, so I will be using that as my starting weight.

I’m going to have to take it easy on the cardio for the next few days, which is a bit annoying. I somehow managed to really hurt my hamstrings during a session on the cross trainer last Sunday. I’m not sure what happened as I’ve been using the cross trainer for months and haven’t recently increased the intensity or anything like that, but it’s pretty bad. I’m trying to keep moving, but I struggled to even make it up the stairs or get off the sofa yesterday.

It’s feeling a little bit better today, but think I’ll stick to a gentle walk for now. Or may be this is a good opportunity to finally try out some (gentle) yoga. Does anyone do yoga here?

SunshineCake · 01/06/2021 12:29

Just a quickie as doggy wants feeding but I have to log that I ran 13km this morning, took me 1.5 hours Blush but it didn't feel that long.

Weight is down too. 10st 11.8 so Mays loss was 3lb.

Be back properly in a bit and thank you @132orbust.

FearlessFairy · 01/06/2021 12:32

Happy June Everyone!
This weather is so lush!
Although factor 50 needed for my pale and (not very) interesting skin.

Weighed this morning to start June off and I'm 1lb up after the much enjoyed BH weekend. Going to make a real effort this month!

1stJuneNewStartBoom · 01/06/2021 15:52

So weighed in this morning at 196.lb so yes its 4 stone to go for my target of 140lb.

Just calorie counting today (no orlistat) as I have been out for the day with the kids.

Feeling rough with a cold too, think its withdrawal from alcohol, I've really hit the bottle hard this last week so knew this would happen.

Looking forward to my jacket potato for tea with some low fat cottage cheese. Been craving it all day. Then will have an early night!

Hope everyone's had a good day!

Ionacat · 01/06/2021 16:55

Evening all. I have no idea what May’s total is as I’ve just come back from camping. Suspect I’ve put on a couple of pounds despite the extra steps to the toilet!
Will update tomorrow. Here we go to June!!
Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine - even though I’m covered in factor 50.
