Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 April came around so fast. The sunny Spring weather and easing of Lockdown brings so much joy and promise for the coming year.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Abra don't get forlorn, I often find i only lose every 2 weeks: keep at it.

Chilled Sunday here pottering and sister came for brunch in the garden. Beautiful day here. She's on Slimming World so we had gorgeous, local eggs, lashings of tea and no treats at all- result! DS1 studying in the sun and I'm painting garden furniture- perfect Sunday.

Wiebsa · 26/04/2021 10:42

I did not avoid the pork pie! I had one slice and one sausage roll, they were delicious. Will try to be strict today. Lunch is just plain boiled eggs, dinner is roast chicken, spinach, carrots, cauliflower, sugar snap peas.

How is everyone doing?

SunshineCake · 26/04/2021 11:39

Doesn't matter @Wiebsa as long as you enjoyed them and it sounds like you did.

I'm struggling today as feeling anxious and faint but don't want to eat my feelings and do want to eat the right stuff. I am making crusty rolls from scratch to have with soup for lunch and then dinner will be a picnic. I don't think I need sugar. I think it is habit of feeling faint, brain fog, tired that the default is to eat chocolate or biscuits to get me going. I have also self imposed Saturday as my last day for a bigger treat to give me a few days to run it off but I'm not sure it is working. I don't go mad - good, but then feel I've failed when it is Monday and I fancy a biscuit or share or chocolate - bad.

Hope everyone else is feeling good.

CocoaMojo · 26/04/2021 18:08

Feeling absolutely wiped here. Finding work exhausting, and life too tbh! Managing to stay on track with food at the moment but totally failing with exercise, just can't seem to find the motivation or fit it in; too exhausted at end of the day. Have managed to drag myself out for a short walk to clear my head a bit so I suppose that's something.
SW 12 lbs 7
CW 11 lbs 13
GW 11 lbs 7 for the moment but that will change.
Today I've had-
B - banana and a coffee.
L - homemade rice salad and a Go ahead bar.
D - will be chicken kiev (not great) with a small amount of rice and a load of veg. And a yoghurt.
@SunshineCake I hope you're feeling betterFlowers

Puffalicious · 26/04/2021 19:18

After 2 days of not being very hungry I'm famished today! Made healthy choices and now it's 7pm I won't eat anyway, but I'm definitely over calories for the day. I'm not sweating it, though.

SunshineCake · 26/04/2021 19:37

Your Kiev isn't bad @CocoaMojo. It's protein, dairy and carbs and lots of veg. No food is bad. The Kiev would be bad if you ate seven of them Grin but one is okay.

Knickers to calories @Puffalicious. You were owed some and you have done great.

Feel like I needed one more thing to eat but it's too late now. I've got a headache from trying to watch tv without my glasses so I've come down to get them and will drink plenty of water.

I was falling asleep at 2pm and needed three wees in an hour so that along with feeling off has made me wonder about diabetes. Confused.

Crazzzycat · 27/04/2021 09:46

I hope you’re feeling a bit better today @SunshineCake and @CocoaMojo

I have a stressful week this week, which always increases the risk of overeating for me. I’m trying to stay strong, but the urge to give in may well turn out to be stronger. We’ll see how it goes!

Wiebsa · 27/04/2021 10:44

Lunch today is 2 scrambled eggs, dinner is sugar snap peas, roasted courgettes and chickpeas. Snacks when I need a boost will be peanut butter, cashew nuts, cherry tomatoes. Weighing in day for me tomorrow so trying to be strict. Fingers crossed.

Wishing everyone a good day, keep going.

Wiebsa · 27/04/2021 11:37

Just saw myself in window reflection side on, and didn’t recognise myself. I am a barrel, my bust is so big, the horror. How did I let this happen? I really am not one of those people who can carry a couple of extra stone. I think it’s my narrow shoulders and lack of height. Going to google some weight loss success stories pictures.

SunshineCake · 27/04/2021 12:45

Hi everyone

I had a marmite sandwich last night as I felt I wanted something and I thought the iron would do me good. Slept okay. Still feel a bit off but I think I need to eat a bit more.

Decided a shorter run as not feeling 100% so just did 5.35km.

Weighed today as not running tomorrow and logging a 2.6lb loss since last Wednesday so Smile.

Hope your stress isn't too bad @Crazzzycat and You Have Got This. Tell yourself you are in control and do not have to give in.

@Wiebsa. You are doing great. I put two stone on and didn't notice! DH did and didn't think to tell me!

SunshineCake · 27/04/2021 13:36

Just checked and I am back where I was in February. And November HmmSad. Nett month loss is rubbish!

Wiebsa · 27/04/2021 14:08

Sorry to hear that SunshineCake, weight loss just isn’t easy. Keep plugging away and remember your goals, you should be very proud of your fitness. I have put on some loud 80s music to raise my spirits and it’s helping.

SunshineCake · 27/04/2021 17:06

Thanks @Wiebsa. I'm okay really. I was 14 stone in October 2018 and 12 9 when I started running in May so I'm fine really. Slow and steady is better than fast and I put it all back on again.

CocoaMojo · 27/04/2021 17:13

Just took a good hard look at myself in my underwear in the mirror for the first time in....a long long time. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't like what I saw. Made me realise that this is going to be a long process to get to where I want to be. Was a bit of a reality check, as in my head I'm not as big; but I've been deliberately avoiding the mirror. It doesn't feel good.

I actually forgot to eat at break time and went all the way through to 1.15 without eating anything since it dinner at 6.30 last night! I suddenly realised when I felt a bit faint Blush
Having salmon for dinner with a load of veggies and a bit of rice.

SunshineCake · 27/04/2021 18:34

Good fasting though @CocoaMojo!

Puffalicious · 27/04/2021 19:58

Brilliant loss Sunshine! Go you!Wink

minthumbugs · 27/04/2021 20:12

Hi all

Hope I'm ok to join in. I'm not at my heaviest weight but the batteries on the scales broke in January and I decided not to replace them - oops!!!! I've put on 9 pounds from where I'm comfortable and so I'm a stone from the weight I'd be happy but can never quite seem to get to.

I generally eat well but if I have one 'unhealthy' snack, it sends me on a downward spiral and I seek out all the rubbish in the house and demolish it, and this is how my weekends have been going. Joining for some accountability to get this stone off! :)

CocoaMojo · 27/04/2021 20:13

@SunshineCake thank you! Hopefully will start to see results from it, if I can maintain motivation.
I bloody wish I'd flaunted my size 10 body in my 20s when I had the chance!!!!

CocoaMojo · 27/04/2021 20:14

@minthumbugs hiiiiii!

Ohhhh, I get you CocoaMojo if only I had appreciated the size 8/10 and even 12 days. I joke that I put on dress size with every child (3DC) but then another in the first lockdown! Least I've lost the Covid size.

Wiebsa · 27/04/2021 20:39

Welcome minthumbugs (I am new too), you are so right to do this before it gets out of hand. One stone so easily becomes two or three stone (sobs).

Crazzzycat · 27/04/2021 20:42

Welcome @minthumbugs! Is there any particular plan you’re following, or is it just a case of ditching the snacks?

@CocoaMojo, I’ve been where you are (and probably am still there if I’m totally honest with myself 🙈). I try not to focus too much on the end goal, as that feels a long way off. I find setting mini goals quite a good way to stay motivated, as well as having a realistic timeline for weightloss. Nothing worse than setting yourself unrealistic goals.

minthumbugs · 27/04/2021 20:52

@Wiebsa you're so right. Over the last year I've been trying to shift that last 5 pounds (unsuccessfully obviously!) and this is the result. Time to get it together... Good luck to you too!

Thank you @Crazzzycat! No particular plan, did SW with success after LO was born and got down to goal weight fairly quickly. Don't think it would be helpful for me now though, so planning to just watch the calories, limit the takeaways and snacks. What about you, what kind of approach are you taking?

SunshineCake · 27/04/2021 21:03

Thank you @Puffalicious. I just checked it was 2.6 as couldn't believe it and it is Grin.

Welcome @minthumbugs. I think many of us have had a treat then thought shucks I've failed I might as well eat all of them now but today is the last day. Tomorrow you will have your small treat, savour it, enjoy it and then put the rest away for another day .

minthumbugs · 27/04/2021 21:05

Yep @SunshineCake, exactly. Every weekend has been the same recently. Wee treat on a Saturday... oh well, will try again Monday! Well it's Tuesday and I am DOING not trying Grin
