I’ve now lost 62.4lbs, 9 weeks post op, 12 weeks since the LRD.

Can’t really believe it, still a long way to go, but it’s a significant chunk. Still don’t have any regrets.

RalphtheMouth · 12/03/2021 14:29

Fantastic @QueenOfPain

I don’t know what to do with myself actually - day 1 of LRD and I just feel pissed if. I’ve waited two years for this, been desperate for this time to come and am even paying privately so I don’t have to wait any longer for NHS and here I am feeling like this! Honestly, I get on my own bloody nerves sometimes.

Seriouslyconfused3 · 12/03/2021 14:34

@Undertall I had a bmi of 39 when I started

QueenOfPain · 12/03/2021 14:35

I was like it too, but this is the last few weeks of feeling hungry and deprived that you’ll have for a long time so it’s worth it. Just try and keep busy and it will go quickly.

When is surgery day?

Seriouslyconfused3 · 12/03/2021 14:35

Well done @QueenOfPain that is amazing Grin

CoronaCurls · 12/03/2021 20:08

I got to 7 stone (98 lbs) off today - more than I ever lost on slimming World!

Feeling so positive- Ralph you won't regret it. It's the best money I've ever spent.

PUER125 · 12/03/2021 20:41

@RalphtheMouth, My LRD is going really well. I haven't felt hungry at all, and haven't actually eaten the small potato I am allowed with my evening meal.
I've also been really busy at work so even though I am WFH, I have not had time to get breakfast on a couple of occasions.
I am surprised I am not missing crisps and chocolate. In fact the only thing I am missing is the cup of hot chocolate I usually had when I sat down after finishing work.
Good luck with your own LRD.

AwFeebs · 12/03/2021 21:35

I have my date through for my sleeve. 12th April. Grin

RalphtheMouth · 12/03/2021 22:03

@QueenOfPain surgery day is 26 March.

@PUER125 good to hear it’s going well.

@CoronaCurls that’s amazing! You’re doing so well.

Thanks for the support, feel a bit better tonight.

Pob13 · 12/03/2021 22:11

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a gastric band? In particular getting it removed.

summeriscomingsoon · 12/03/2021 23:58

I'm waiting for a surgery date for bypass. Paying private.

But ...

I'm worried about smelly flatulence. Is it a problem? Will I be able to work in an open plan office without offending someone Confused

I've read about Shreddies pants. Do people use them?

It's my main worry.

summeriscomingsoon · 13/03/2021 00:06

@Undertall

I had surgery 10 days ago if anyone would like to ask me any questions, I'll try to help.
On a percentage scale, how much do you feel normal again or able to function?
Undertall · 13/03/2021 01:09

@summeriscomingsoon
3 weeks post op and I'd say I'm 90% back to normal.
I wouldn't lift anything heavy, I have light bruising on my abdomen.
I'm not cleaning (my house) as thoroughly as I'd like.
I'm also quite tired, but that's probably due to low calorie consumption.

My recovery has been fantastic, minimal pain, no wind, sleeping well.
I can drink, and do, as normal, no sipping required.
I'm eating normally, LCHF with no ill effects, albeit small portions. I've not experienced any dumping, reflux or any side effects.
I am also exercising, but not as intensely as before the procedure.

Undertall · 13/03/2021 01:10

@Seriouslyconfused3 thanks, I'll search and read your past posts on this thread.

QueenOfPain · 13/03/2021 11:01

@summeriscomingsoon

I had the bypass, I’m 9 weeks post op.
I had some pretty bad wind in my first few weeks after surgery, and it was pretty err stinky, but now things have settled and I think I fart a lot less than I did pre surgery.

My stomach just seems a lot less temperamental than it was before. I’m not really bloating or getting uncomfortable or doing horrendous farts. It makes lots of upper tummy gurgling noises after I’ve eaten, but I think they’re preferable to how things were before. I think a change of diet is big contributor to this too though.

Thank you for replying.

Just so worried about returning to an office if it's bad

CoronaCurls · 13/03/2021 12:27

I was concerned about this too, but because I've had to give up fizzy drinks 😪 I'm much less gassy than I was before surgery.

Turmeric capsules are very good for stopping smelly farts worth trying if you are worried.

Good tip, thank you.

I do hope I can make this opportunity work for me. I've been through the NHS programme but it was suspended due to Covid so now going private.

I think I'm addicted to food so worry that I'll still not lose.

gallileofigaro · 13/03/2021 12:37

Glad I've found this.

I'm contemplating surgery ballon or band. I've got a private consultation next week and I'm hoping for some answers.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has had surgery as to the highs and lows etc and if there's any questions I should be asking.

Seriouslyconfused3 · 13/03/2021 15:07

@gallileofigaro I’m not an expert but I think surgeons generally are reluctant to offer the band now. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on the balloon. The vsg has been great for me though

OP posts:
MindBodyChocolate · 13/03/2021 17:22

Hi all, good to catch up with news from everyone. @gallileofigaro you have to make your own decisions but from what I read the band and balloon aren't seen as being as effective as the sleeve or bypass. I understand that the NHS doesn't offer either because they don't represent value for money. I'd really recommend the sleeve. Good luck with whatever your decision.

gallileofigaro · 14/03/2021 15:06

@Seriouslyconfused3 thanks what is the VSG?

@MindBodyChocolate thanks. I'm self funding and not sure I can afford sleeve and definitely don't want a bypass.

BigToLittle · 15/03/2021 14:53

Hi all,
I am coming out from lurking! I am teetering on the edge of booking my gastric sleeve surgery in Turkey for end of June. I know a few people here have gone through GetSlimInTurkey... I think i am just after a little reassurance to push myself over into booking flights and confirming the surgery!

RalphtheMouth · 15/03/2021 15:31

Hi @BigToLittle, I’m having mine done in the UK but would suggest joining some of the Facebook bariatric pages as there are lots of people that have gone abroad and can advise more.

Day 4 of LRD today and 9lbs down!

LadyShmuck · 16/03/2021 19:26

@BigToLittle I went to Turkey. I couldn't have afforded to do it in the UK. I'd go again tomorrow. Lost just under 5st since November, and I feel great, no complications.
