Cambridge/Exante/Slimfast 2021

New thread combining all the VLC shake diets: Cambridge, Exante, Lighterlife, Slimfast, etc. Everyone is welcome.

If you have any underlying health conditions, please check with your GP first (as I did).

I'm doing Slimfast (two shakes and one healthy meal a day). I use the premade shakes, because I actually like them! They are currently on sale here: www.amazon.co.uk/SlimFast-Replacement-Shake-Chunky-Chocolate/dp/B010PM6XO4/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I noticed Amazon is selling Lighterlife products now, too, if that helps anyone: www.amazon.co.uk/stores/page/DCB0D716-63B4-4265-8862-CF4AEEE9FEF9?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

My goals:

  • Get two stone off quickly, then swap to less restrictive healthy/calorie controlled eating.
  • Do 30 minutes of exercise (walking, jogging, lifting weights, whatever) a day.

Would love to share tips and motivate each other as we go!

Thank you. Love gin maybe I should look for a low calorie alcohol fix. Or stay away....
I ordered some dresses. I'm usually very petite and 9stone on me is very slim so all my clothes are 8s and few 10s I ordered some dresses for the registry office in 12s and they're not flattering at all. So that's kick started me into the diet now.
Thanks for the tip with snacks. I feel bloated and windy off the morning shake!

YourWurstNightmare · 04/02/2021 12:18

Welcome @sg622! How many calories are you having a day? You may need to lower yours due to your height if you're not losing.

Still 10st 6 lbs think i am snacking too much

sg622 · 04/02/2021 13:15

@yourwurstnightmare for the first 4 days I was having a shake for breakfast and lunch, then a fairly normal (but portion controlled) dinner. Didn't have any snacks as couldn't really be bothered making a separate 'diet' dinner for myself then something else for the rest of the family, so figured that would give me a bit of leeway with calories. I felt quite rubbish though - very bloated and a bit bunged up! So I have ditched the breakfast shake in favour of an apple or orange, then having a shake for lunch and normal dinner. So calories wise should be ok. But I generally do lose weight slowly and in the past have gained in the first week of a diet so think I just need to be patient and not lose heart.

lockdownrainbow · 04/02/2021 20:25

Seem to have been stuck at 10st 6 for last few days

YourWurstNightmare · 05/02/2021 09:36

@lockdownrainbow What are you snacking on? It could definitely be slowing you down.

@sg622 Sounds like you know your body. Fingers crossed you get some results this week!

Mini eggs Blush

lockdownrainbow · 05/02/2021 10:13

10 6 this morning too

CJDoxon · 05/02/2021 10:42

@lockdownrainbow ... just guessing but maybe the mini eggs might have something to do with it? Can you bear to throw them away (I would eat them too if they were in the house!!)? Not even going to suggest to substitute for something else (nothing would replace) but it might just do the trick? Fingers crossed......

YourWurstNightmare · 05/02/2021 10:52

Put them in the freezer until you hit goal!

Just heard from a friend of mine who has lost an incredible 4.5st since the summer, going from an obese BMI to well into a healthy one. She has been incredibly motivated, really embraced exercise and has completely turned herself around. I'm partly in awe, and partly really jealous...but i guess it shows that it can be done so I need to use her as inspiration!

Although I do now really want some mini eggs...

lockdownrainbow · 05/02/2021 13:02

Sg 🤣🤣🤣
I haven't had s mini eggs all in bin
I have had an apple for a snack and half a nutella pancake

lockdownrainbow · 05/02/2021 13:09

I am having 3 snacks making sure they are 100 kcal each

CJDoxon · 05/02/2021 14:41

@lockdownrainbow
enormous grin :-) (am numpty and havent worked out how to do an emoji on this yet ...)

lockdownrainbow · 05/02/2021 15:04

I googled and you can have water retention if period due which mine is
And your weight can plateau

lockdownrainbow · 06/02/2021 15:24

How is everyone doing ? i am eating choc but only within the 100 kcal for each snack still 10 st 6

YourWurstNightmare · 07/02/2021 07:14

I wish I had your willpower, @lockdownrainbow!

I was really hungry again yesterday (possibly due to the extra workouts?) so I had an all food day for a change. Egg whites w/ cottage cheese and baked beans, sandwich thins and soup, huge stir fry w/ small portion of rice.

I was able to keep to the same calorie count, so that gives me confidence that I will be able switch over to 100% food/occasional shake after Easter to keep losing in a less restrictive way.

Happy Sunday all. Smile

Well, last night I had chocolate cake. And gin Blush. Back inthe wagon today though, I promise!!

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 07/02/2021 11:50

I had a non scales win this morning - on a committee video call, and there was a vote to make me turn my camera off as I was looking too good Grin.

lockdownrainbow - I couldn't do that, I'm all or nothing with chocolate!

and sg6222 - did you enjoy it? If so, then that's OK, you're allowed to eat and drink nice things, just not all of the things all of the time Wink.

YourWurstNightmare · 07/02/2021 14:11

@MyVisionsComeFromSoup Ha! I bet that felt good. Grin

Shwighty1 · 09/02/2021 06:39

Morning all, sorry dropped off for a bit as l life and work is so busy! Back on it this week, I’m back walking again as my toe fracture is pretty much healed. It’s been so lovely getting out again properly and not aching too badly. Planning next week off work and going to build in more constructed exercise in the evenings again too. Have not gained weight but plateaued here too, interesting reading about period water retention though as I’m just off mine so definitely could be that

YourWurstNightmare · 09/02/2021 10:04

Hopefully upping your activity levels will help push you through that plateau, @Shwighty1!

Got another workout in this morning and am consistently walking on the other days. Echoing above, it feels really good to be moving more. Looking forward to spring weather and sunny walks (in slightly smaller clothing if possible Grin).
