Hello & Welcome

Roughly 8 weeks to Christmas ๐ŸŽ„. We all know itโ€™s been a strange unsettling year. Unprecedented. Nonetheless we all deserve to feel the best we can, be the best we can and strive to be as fit and healthy as possible. Not only will you look great in your finery, youโ€™ll be (to a degree) improving your immune system and your ability to fight infection should you get one. In addition, if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main itโ€™s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and Iโ€™ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. Due to some unfortunate circumstances in October I didnโ€™t really lose but did maintain. Iโ€™m hoping November will see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Thanks everyone. I'm so relieved.

Breathmiller · 10/11/2020 18:28

Great news fatgirlshrinking and sunshinecake

LH1987 · 10/11/2020 18:36

So Iโ€™ve broken and had crisps and wine. The shame!

Iโ€™ll be back on track tomorrow and I am going to try intermittent fasting, it sounds like a it might work for me.

FatGirlShrinking · 10/11/2020 18:43

@LH1987 I just had an Cadbury Orange Twirl. Looked at my calories for the day and only 627 and thought fuck it, I can have a chocolate bar or 2 and still come in under target, might make a mug of proper hot chocolate with squirty cream in a minute.

One of the benefits of missing breakfast and lunch! That and dinner was pork loin steak with broccoli and green beans so low cal dinner.

SunshineCake · 10/11/2020 19:05

No shame necessary. If you want something sweet, have it. Enjoy it. Don't make it a negative thing.

Today I have had a millionaires shortbread and a mini bag of milk bottles. Not feeling bad.

I know it isn't Wednesday but my weight this morning tells me I have lost 2 stone 13.2lbs since October 2018 and over 1.5 stone since I started running in May. Just need to lose 0.9lb and I'll be ten stone something Shock.

Doseydots · 10/11/2020 19:33

Good evening, I am loving the good news on this thread.

I have re-started 16:8 and I am feeling good on it. I do it between 9.30 and 5.30, eat breakfast, a light lunch and a proper family meal on the evening. I donโ€™t feel like I am depriving myself and I love that empty clean feeling when I wake up, it sets me up for the day. I work from home mostly taking calls, I have my iPad on my desk and do walking at home exercise videos in between my calls. I just try not to get too out of breath!

LH1987 · 10/11/2020 20:13

@FatGirlShrinking and @SunshineCake, you are so right little treats are fine. Otherwise I suppose itโ€™s not sustainable.

Both of your success is a great motivation ๐Ÿ˜€

And I loved the wine and crisps, I am very satisfied!

Trisolaris · 10/11/2020 20:26

Hi everyone!

Glad to hear the positivity!

My scales are being mean as Iโ€™m premenstrual but I ran for 6.67km this evening so hopefully that will help. Trisolcat had her stitches removed today and is apparently doing very well so thatโ€™s my good news for today!

FatGirlShrinking · 11/11/2020 07:25

Start of this weight loss journey was 233lb, BMI 35.4

28/10/2020 - 198lb, BMI 30.1
04/11/2020 - 197lb, BMI 29.9
11/11/2020 - 192lb, BMI 29.1

Loss this week - 5 lb
Loss this month - 6 lb
Total loss since starting - 41 lb

Breathmiller · 11/11/2020 08:17

Wow! fatgirlshrinking that's amazing!! What an inspiration. Have you had to buy a whole new wardrobe?

FatGirlShrinking · 11/11/2020 08:48

@Breathmiller I've got rid of all my clothes and now have a 'capsule' wardrobe to tide me over while I keep losing. I have 3 pairs of joggers, 3 hoodies and a handful of T-shirt's ๐Ÿ˜‚

Breathmiller · 11/11/2020 08:54

That sounds like a plan.
I lost 2 and a half stone a few years ago and theeeout all my bigger clothes.

Then put it all back on this year and so have a 'capsule' wardrobe of only a few things that will fit. I refuse to throw out my smaller clothes and buy bigger ones again.
As well as the weight on the scales and the belt notches to guide size, i have a particular dress that I am determined to fit in again. That's my main aim. When i can fit in that I will be happy.

Breathmiller · 11/11/2020 09:14

Weight this morning is 4lbs down. That's a pound a day. Which seems an awful lot.
But I don't feel I'm dieting at all. In fact I feel I am eating really well. I take it that's normal when you start? Then if I remember it will plateau or go up and down.

I don't actually want to lose too fast as I feel it's less likely to stay off.

I ate 1750 calories yesterday, 3 meals, full plates and snacks at night. I did 12k steps and was pretty active all day.

CescaNicole · 11/11/2020 10:03

Good Morning All!

Phew there was a lot to catch up on the thread!
I hope you're all doing well! Hello to the newbies :)
@SunshineCake good news about your son
@FatGirlShrinking good news about your job!!!

Grin Grin
Well Done for all the losses this week too!

I have hit the plateau and stayed the same this week!!
28th October - 11 st 9 lbs
4th November - 11 st 4 lbs
11th November - 11st 4 lbs

Total Loss for Nov: 5lbs
Total Loss since starting (1st Oct): 11lbs

I guess it makes sense as I haven't been as strict with myself diet wise and also haven't been drinking as much water! I did download Gemma Atkinsons Ultimate Body Plan book as it's free on the kindle app with Prime - and I done a couple of her workouts and am going to try some of her recipes next week to mix it up a bit. There's nothing revolutionary in there though...

Everything is all set for our lockdown wedding at Christmas so that's exciting! I just hope I get my dress back from the seamstress (and it fits!) in time after this lockdown!!

Take Care everyone x

FatGirlShrinking · 11/11/2020 10:40

Just looked at my fitness pal which has my original weight from back in 2013 when I was at my heaviest and I'm 63lb down from that which just seems like a huge number.

Also tells me I've been logging my food every day for 103 days this time round, that's 41 lb lost in 103 days, so around 1lb every 2 days.

Im feeling pretty proud of myself this morning.

SunshineCake · 11/11/2020 12:43

Everyone is doing really well.

@Breathmiller it is all about what you eat and while you might not sustain a pound a day loss, it is a good start. Three squares of chocolate might be the same calories as baked fish, new potatoes,
lots of veg (no actual idea of the calories) but the fish meal would keep you going for longer and not give you a crash. I think.

I walked the dog after taking ds to school then set off on my run. I realised I had a headache but kept going and managed just over 5km. I went a different route but won't do it again as it isn't long enough. I've done the food shop and then just fallen up the stairs so I have a sore foot, a headache and have decided to just do easy stuff. A friend wants to buy some home made cards from me so I'll sort those after lunch and then take it easy.

May 1st BMI 29.45
Today BMI 25.6
May 1st 177lbs
Today 154.8lbs
Loss in a week 3lbs

Breathmiller · 11/11/2020 12:56

Yes, that makes sense sunshine - i am filling up my plate with lots of veg so it feels like I get a lot to eat but so far ut has all been highly filling and nutritious foods for the calories. Ive been there before where I ate rubbish as long as it was under calories but felt rubbish and constantly hungry.

Porridge made with a little salt and water today, which is how I prefer it anyway (scot here Grin) with a few cashew nuts for creaminess, prunes and maple syrup. So tasty

Galvantula · 11/11/2020 13:25

Hello.

I was sure I posted last night. Must have failed to hit post. Blush

Still hovering at about 57.5kg here, happy with that as I have had a few treats when I felt like it.

I will now try to catch up on all the thread i missed!

Hello to everyone and welcome to all the new passengers :)

LH1987 · 11/11/2020 13:36

Just bought myself a size 12 skirt, Iโ€™m going to use this as my inspiration. I will fit into it by next March!

Started the intermittent fasting last night and I think it will work from me. My DD mostly refuses to sleep unless held, so I spend a lot of time in the evenings and at night sat with her in the sitting room, it is so easy to just start snacking! Last night i stopped eating at 7 so I didnโ€™t snack.

slightlybonkers · 11/11/2020 13:47

Great news all around @SunshineCake & @FatGirlShrinking.

Am keeping to my plan but had 2 glasses of red wine last night. Finding it hard to eat well and not have alcohol. At the start of lockdown I didn't drink at all but wasn't missing it as was eating all around me. Wish I could be a more balanced person ๐Ÿ™ I seem to be slightly too obsessed with wine, chocolate & food!

Breathmiller · 11/11/2020 14:41

lh1987
My goal dress is a 12 too. Although it is a shift dress so gives a bit of leeway on my middle.
We can do this!!

Breathmiller · 11/11/2020 14:54

I also realised I hadn't given my weight yet.
I am 5'9" and weighed 13st5 at the beginning.

I am now at 13st1.
My big aim is to get to 11stone. And my smaller goal at the moment is to get to 12st something.

Next goal after that is 12st7.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 11/11/2020 19:29

Hi everyone. Great news all round for everyone!

Today i had soup for lunch and ramen for tea. Am very full. Might clean my teeth so not tempted to snack later!

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 11/11/2020 19:30

I'm 10stone 8lb. My target is 9stone 5. I'm only 5ft 1 so any extra weight really shows.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 11/11/2020 22:13

Oh I'm so cross with myself. Just ate a load of chocolates. No willpower at all. Sad
