Optimistic October

Says she, thought I would start a new thread. After yesterday's triumph, I ended up eating rubbish yesterday (lack of time and planning) and weight out for a Toby (bar snacks) last night to get my Dad out of the house to give DS1 space. Weigh 9st2 this morning, but confident that I didn't eat the 8,000 calories needed to gain over 2 pounds. Aim for the end of October is 8st13.5 (rather than .75 which was my new low yesterday), the sky is the limit

14,6.75 today. The initial bloat is coming off ready for the long slog next week.

I share menus because I need to plan in advance to prevent accidents 😁

B chicken omelette
L prawn salad
D chicken and baked rice
S rocky road, cup of soup

Lalanbaba · 15/10/2020 08:39

Morning everyone,
63.6 this morning, I haven't done too much damage Grin
B: Greek yogurt and a ton of berries. I need the fibre iykwim
L: pumpkin soup, rye crackers
D: burrito bowl

Heygirlheyboy · 15/10/2020 09:24

Exactly I post it to commit! Home with cc as close contact today Biscuit

Eggs and beans for breakfast after v poor sleep and a late night h/m granola and Greek. Didn't weigh, bit fed up.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/10/2020 09:25

Not weighing today. Yesterday I burned nearly 2600 cals without going to the gym just dashing around work - ended up not eating all day and then eating crap - pot noodle, snickers ice cream and a packet of ready salted snack size crisps.

Plan today is to try and fast till after I go to the gym late afternoon and then to use the leftover stew that's in the fridge to get some actual nutrition!

Have had to order a new (refurbished actually) phone - hoping signing in with my apple ID means it's easy to recover everything. It should arrive tomorrow so hopefully I can get it set up and have my scales and fitbit apps back up and running.

Heygirlheyboy · 15/10/2020 09:25

DC not cc

Monochrome4 · 15/10/2020 09:31

Good to see someone else using metric units Lalanbaba :-) Good luck with the new job! When do you start?

64.1 today which I'm happy with. Exact half way house between 68.2 and 60. Got a pair of jeans out of the cupboard that I hadn't worn for a while.

I have decided I'm not going to count calories today. For a start, I'm going out for lunch. Also, I've been slipping into snacking habits the past couple of days and I think it might be because my meals were too small. I'm going to try to eat reasonable sized, healthy meals and see if I can stave off the snacks that way.

Honeysucklejasmine that's already a good chunk off since your first post. Well done!

IDontMindMarmite · 15/10/2020 10:10

Hello hello, I'm back on it today. I haven't stepped on the scales to see the damage in full glare...might need sunglasses to look at it head on. Maybe tomorrow or maybe after a week 😆. Looking forward to my favourite foods again. Dreading returning to dark mornings and evenings, might buy a light box and see if that helps.

Looks like everyone has been keeping on keeping on, good work. We'll be happy we did come Christmas.

I "discovered" a BBC mini series on Netflix called "Press", I really recommend it.

Monochrome4 · 15/10/2020 19:07

Ladies I've had a day off and feel nice and full this evening, which I reckon I needed. HOWEVER please KICK MY ARSE if I'm not here tomorrow, or if I spend all day reaching into the cupboards for nibbles. Thank you!

Octopus37 · 16/10/2020 07:04

Honeysuckle thats a great loss in a week. 9st0.25 this morning, not eating very healthily at the moment, partly cause of time and everything being so difficult. Off to the pub for the last time in a while tomorrow, our area goes into tier 2 tonight.

Morning, I weigh 6lbs more after my holiday, DH 7lbs more. Easy on easy off hopefully. Doesn't help that we have to stay inside for 2 weeks but we have an indoor cycling device and rowing machine (which I'm not a fan of especially and I much prefer walking but never mind).

Drink lots of water everyone!

IDontMindMarmite · 16/10/2020 07:59

Oh and my skin has suffered from my less healthy diet. I'm hoping that will improve too.

Monochrome4 · 16/10/2020 09:19

Morning all! Reporting for duty. 64.1kg this morning.

Welcome back IDon'tMindMarmite! I hope you had a lovely holiday. I'm sure it'll come off easily if you jut get back into the routine and do plenty of cycling to nowhere. My skin is always terrible after holiday because of wearing sun cream.

Over and out.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 16/10/2020 11:36

My skin definitely suffers if I eat crap. Which is very annoying as I've never been particularly spotty, even as a teenager Hmm

Just done a 10km hike. My feet hurt.

B chicken omelette
L prawn salad
D chicken pie (leftovers)
S rocky road

Monochrome4 · 16/10/2020 14:33

Well done Honeysuckle. Do you feel good for it (apart from the feet)? Time for new footwear?

I am doing reasonably well today, not reaching into the cupboard, and cycled up a decent hill this morning. Plan is home made pizzas for dinner though. Hmm. Time for me to put the calculations in the app and weigh everything very carefully.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 16/10/2020 14:50

Yeah definitely. I live in Cotswolds AONB so it was a beautiful walk. Feet only hurt because the waterproofing needs redoing on my shoes. Wet socks, they rubbed.

Now trying to avoid the "did a long walk, have a great" school of thought.

Lalanbaba · 16/10/2020 20:04

Hi everyone!
Busy busy day.
@HoneysuckIejasmine so jealous of being able to go for a hike from your doorstep.
B: toast and tea
L: vegetable soup, fruit
D: gammon, egg and chips. Some cucumbers and peppers on the side

TheHoneyBadger · 16/10/2020 21:18

Evening. Busy day. Think I was 13st13 this morning but can't see beyond that without my app. New phone arrived today but I'm too tired to try and set it up this evening. Hopefully get it sorted tomorrow and remember my password for scales app and fit bit.

My fitbit has just buzzed away on my wrist to tell me I've hit my 2100 calorie burn target. No gym or anything today just work so pleased I'll be exceeding goal again.

Fasted for about 19hrs then ate a cheeseburger and 2 snickers ice creams. My nutrition, if you can call it that, is shite a lot recently just from being busy at work and knackered from that and insomnia.

One more week then it's half term for me and my new supply of melatonin has arrived at last so hopefully I can get my sleeping back into a working pattern.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 16/10/2020 21:31

Ha, yes it's beautiful but I've had to buy a new car today. I used to live in the flat south east, where it was the perfect car, but it just can't handle the escarpment. So, time for a bigger engine. Tomorrow I get the fun of clearing the car (complete with sheep poo) and phoning insurance etc, before collecting on Sunday.

Badger do you find melatonin helpful? My sleep is terrible.

Heygirlheyboy · 17/10/2020 08:35

Up 6lbs since Tuesday Hmm So that's what happens when I go off piste. Very bloody annoying.

IDontMindMarmite · 17/10/2020 09:56

Crikey it's disheartening. Still as they say, easy on easy off. Won't be fat etc etc. I'm 1lb down from my holiday 6lbs after one day of eating normally.
Lalanbaba · 17/10/2020 09:57

@Heygirlheyboy

I don't think you have eaten over 20000 calories over your maintenance needs since Tuesday. So I will say main part of that is water. B: toast and tea L: bean soup D: babambip

At least that is the idea, I have to run lunch with boyfriend when comes back from work but I really want wintery food. It may end up like a bean and sausage casserole. I have some sun-dried tomatoes that may end up in there too

Octopus37 · 17/10/2020 10:00

That will come straight off I'm sure in a few days Heygirl. Went out to O'Neills last night, had 2 pints and Nachos, 9st1 today.

TheHoneyBadger I'm intrigued by what you said about the Fitbit. Does it actually work out how many calories you've burnt throughout the day? Is that based on number of steps or on heart rate? Sounds useful.

I have a cheap pedometer but I find it annoying. It tells me how many steps I've done in the day, although I'm not sure how accurate it is. It's supposed to connect to my phone GPS to work out my cycling route and therefore calories, but it's hopelessly inaccurate (it thinks I've cycled 100km and burnt several thousand cals) . If I get it to switch the GPS off at the beginning of exercise then it'll work out calories based on my heart rate, but it won't work out a day's worth of calories.

So I took the kids to TGI Fridays for lunch today. I had a salad. I thought I'd be able to look up the calories online, but the salad I had isn't listed anywhere and the list of salads on the chart I have found varies from 400 to 1100 calories. So I have to guess, which is annoying. I don't think it was toooo calorific but it would be good to know so I can work out what I'm allowed for dinner.

HeyGirlHeyBoy, Lalanbaba is right. It'll be mainly water and will come off easily.

Lalanbaba · 17/10/2020 17:05

@monochrome4 which salad? I love to find stuff like that
